Ever since the holidays, Alex had been a bit worried about his overall relationship with Victoire. He'd waited for her in Obsidian Harbour, but she'd been too busy to come and see him ever since she'd started at the Ministry of Magic. He hoped that next year, when the two of them sort of worked together, that they'd be able to see each other more. He walked up to the Owlery, having written a letter to her, to hopefully catch up.
Letter said:
Victoire,

How's things? I hope work isn't treating you too badly. Back to school and classes for me, but at least I'm in the final stretch. Before long, I'll hopefully be able to apply for the Auror Office and then we might be able to see more of each other. I was in Obsidian the other day, and I missed you, but I'm sure that you had a good reason for not being able to come down and have lunch. I'm not annoyed, so don't worry about that. I trust you'll be coming to my Graduation?

Hope to hear back soon,

Roi Soleil.

Victoire had felt pretty bad about not managing to meet Alexander over the school break, but she had been pretty busy with work, it kept her happily busy and though she'd sent an apology the former gryffindor was still looking to make it up to him. That was why she was fairly surprised when she received a letter from him, of course it was one of the primary methods of communication in the wizarding world, but she was still surprised when the owl was at her flat with a letter attached to it's leg. She liked it and found herself smiling at the words written on the page. The stress of the final year, the final semester was bound to be weighing on him and she was sure that as long as no one died he'd be just fine. The woman though she had little time wrote a response before heading to work, it was nice to hear from him and though she hadn't thought of him as more than a friend there was a small part of her that really enjoyed his company and she found herself liking him more and more.
Roi Soleil,

Things are as ever busy, my job keeps me working random and many hours, I have been challenged in ways I never thought would be possible, but it is wonderful. I love it, my job is everything I could've hoped for. The people I work with and under are great, they are truly wonderful people. I do miss the structure of school, but I love the freedom I have.

The final semester of school! Good Luck Alexander! You'll be just fine and then we can work together at the ministry. I do hope you do well, and I'm always available to help, you know that i would always love to help. I would've come, and I tried to get a message to you that I could but things got so busy at work and I just couldn't leave. I am very much at desk lunch person as bad as it is. This job is important and I want to prove myself. Regardless I hope you had a good lunch without my company! And I hope you had a good christmas, I have a present sitting waiting for you in my house, if you have the time at the next brightstone weekend we should do something so I can give it to you in person.

of course I'll be at your graduation, I am so looking forward to it! Best of luck with classes! How are they going? This is the final stretch, and you'll be just fine!

It is good to hear from you,
Victoire

Alex had developed the biggest grin on his when he had received Victoire's response. He had definitely been expecting it, he just hadn't expected it so soon. He knew that she was busy, and he was too, but he would always venture to ensure that he made some time for her. He had expected his final year to be busy, that was an unavoidable fact, but he hastened to make a short reply in between lessons.
Victoire,

Thanks for the response! I didn't expect to hear back from you so soon, especially since we're both the busiest beavers it seems. It makes me happy to hear that you love your job, and I was so proud when I heard that you'd entered the Ministry like you wanted. Last semester, yeah. This year has been crazy and it's only half done, at least when it's over life will calm down for a little while at the very least.

The next Brightstone Weekend? Of course! We can work out the details closer to the date, but I'm looking forward to it already. I got you something, as well, and I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll love it!

I eagerly await your response, and I hope your job treats you well.

Victoire was kept busy with her job, but she had been overjoyed to receive another letter from Alex, their friendship had been something she held dear and he was someone she had grown to like a lot. Perhaps it had just been because of her break up with Jean being now so long ago and distant in her mind that she felt herself actively looking, going on dates and trying to find someone who had been as good to her as Jean had been, thus often her mind had strayed to Alex. Finally, at long last and making the poor guy wait too long she replied to his letter

Roi Soleil,

I have to admit my life got out of control so fast, clearly the first few weeks were just to lull me in and now I'm just full steam ahead. It has admittedly been good, I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment, but it does mean I wasn't able to reply in time. Although I know you are coming up to graduation so perhaps we could meet up after that, and I can offer you some congratulatory drinks!

Tell me about how your semester is going? Any tricky subjects or professors, I'm sure I can relate!

With kindness,
Victoire
