Open Mirrors

[Fraser Fergusson]

Fraser, as with the year before, was extremely excited by the fact he was at the ball. There was just so much for him to do at, and he was never sure what to go for first. This time around after grabbed a snack he headed towards the funhouse mirrors and decided this would be the thing he'd do. He wanted to do it, the fun house mirrors wasn't something he'd gotten to do in the previous year. Fraser had just run out of time for it. But this time, at that very moment, he was doing it first.

Eloise was quite pleased with her costume this year, even more so because the oversized tennis ball doubled as a bag. Something her mom had made happen. She hadn't done it herself, obviously, but she had probably send it off to one of her designers. Still, Eloise liked it. She also liked the fact that her costume repped the country she was born in. It was a fun little detail in her mind. The plus side to the school parties was definitely dressing up. The downside was that she never quite knew what to when she arrived. She had wandered around for a minute before ending up at the fun house mirrors. People seemed to be having fun there. She stepped in front one of the mirrors and watched as it distorted her image. "That's just silly." She said to the kid closest to her with a soft giggle.

Fraser glanced at the girl who joined him in the house of mirrors. "This one will make you super tall," he said, since he was standing just next to her but looking at a different mirror. His tone was lightly and jovial. The house of mirrors was very fun to him already, though he'd only just stepped into it, and this was just the second mirror he had looked at.

Eloise couldn't help but to wonder if her mother would approve of the fun house mirrors. They weren't exactly.. classy, but she admit to admit standing in front of them was funny. And surely she was allowed to have some fun. "That one's the opposite, it squishes you together to make you tiny." She replied to her classmate, pointing over at the mirror she had been in front of before taking a step towards the other mirror so she could see herself suddenly getting very tall. "Have you seen mirrors like this somewhere else before?" Eloise questioned. She knew they had probably been at the Halloween party last year but she had never seen something similar outside of that.
