Estrella had not been so confident going into the game with Gryffindor. Now that Ravenclaw had conquered their most formidable enemy, she was sure that they were going to smash Hufflepuff into the dirt. This was the reason she dragged herself out to the pitch. In this next game, winning was the only option. With the way the games had played out, Ravenclaw would either have the cup or tie with Gryffindor. Coming to a tie for the cup was unacceptable. At this point in time during the school year she really should be studying, but Estrella knew she was going to crack if she had to rewrite another damaged page of notes.

Amethyst Streak in hand, the eighteen year old did something different than was usual. She opened the door to the broom shed, snatching a beater's bat and a box with a bludger in it. Estrella released the black ball, watching as it ambled lazily over the pitch. She weighed the bat in her hand and smiled. Improving her strength was something that she should have worked at a long time ago. Kicking off into the skies, Estrella flew around a bit as she took practice swings with the club. It was awkward flying with it in hand. When she felt she was ready she dive bombed the bludger, whacking it across the field. Waiting a moment as it soared across the pitch, she followed it and drove it away. The Ravenclaw soon discovered that hitting bludgers wasn't as effortless as the beaters made it out to be.

Sumner felt a little stiff and sore from the game. He felt happy that they'd won but thought he could always have done better. So he came down to the pitch with his equipment; his beater's bat was a gift from his girlfriend Kat and his broom he'd bought himself after saving up for it. It was fast, it was good and it was his, which suited him fine.

He ran, hopped on the broom and took off in one long leap, effortlessly. Gazing around he noticed someone already up in the air. Recognizing Estrella it took him a moment to realize what she was up to. The bludger she'd hit zoomed his way. "Hey Estrella!" he shouted, "heads up!" and whacked the ball back toward her. Playing at his position, he smirked. He knew she could handle it but he'd show her a trick or two if she was inclined.

Estrella let the ball get a good distance away as she geared up to go after it. She was surprised as one of her teammates vaulted into the skies. Grinning wildly at Sumner, the older Ravenclaw took heed of his warning and steeled herself to meet the bludger. She swung the bat a bit too furiously, connecting with the ball weakly and sending it into a pathetic swirl. Frowning, she flew closer to Sumner, projecting her voice so that he could hear her, "Sorry! I'm not used to this kind of thing." She held up the bat as if to explain. Chances were she was probably holding it wrong too. The girl waited for the ball either to pummel the ground or for Sumner to pick it up again.

Sumner flew under the ball and hit it as hard as he could. His bat reverberated, his shoulder shoulder, his teeth clenched from the power of the shot. It'd buy them both some time though as it hurtled practically out of orbit before it'd boomerang toward them again. Zooming over to stop feet away from Estrella so they could hear each other better, he grinned. "It's your grip. Kind of like muggle baseball, you have to grip it like this," he demonstrated with his own bat with a firm, fist over fist grip. "Then when you go in for the kill, swing from your middle, you'll take the brunt of the hit with your shoulder." He showed her what he meant.

"Give it a go," he encouraged.

Estrella watched as Sumner managed to smash the bludger elsewhere. She smiled back at him and listened intently as he explained how to hold the bat properly. The girl hadn't seen a baseball for years, and hadn't had her hands on a baseball bat for much longer. Bringing her hands around the bat with one fist over the other, she nodded to him to make sure she was doing it alright. She thought the method of hitting the bludger made sense, and decided to go for a practice swing.

"Yeah, like that-," Sumner didn't get out much more than that as a gust of wind propelled him forward a bit, right into the line of her bat swing. Pain exploded, he heard then felt the pop as his nose gave and broke, then blood began spurting from it. "Mudderfu-" he swore, reeling back and just managing, barely, to stay on his broom.

Something cracked against Estrella's bat. It definitely wasn't a bludger. She recoiled in horror as she took in Sumner's face. Blood was everywhere, spurting from his nose and painting his robes a sickly crimson. "Merlin, Sumner, I'm SO sorry!" The older Ravenclaw knew that she would have to get him to the Hospital Wing. She was good at Charms, but she sure as hell couldn't fix broken bones. She wasn't able to suggest this as the bludger returned and pummeled her in the shoulder. Swearing loudly, she struggled to stay on her broom and hold on to the beater's bat at the same time. "Uh, how do you get that fu- thing back in the box?" she asked, gritting her teeth. One of them was going to have to do it before they even left the pitch. Considering she had just smashed the team's beater in the face, she was probably responsible for it. Bludger hit aside, she felt absolutely horrid.

Sumner ended up getting the bludger back in the box. After seeing Estrella take a hit while distracted, it prompted him to push through his own pain for the safety of a team mate. He'd called for her to land while he dove low after the bludger. He threw himself onto the damned thing, smearing bright red blood all over it. He stuffed it back into the box and stood up, weaving a bit on his feet. He'd lost a lot of blood. He turned to Estrella. "Ar' yu nky?" Spots were dancing behind his eyes and buzzing started in his ears.

Estrella bit her lip as Sumner took to answering her question. All she could really do was follow his instruction. The Ravenclaw landed as softly as she could, wincing as agony wracked her shoulder. She hoped to Merlin that she hadn't broken something. If the situation hadn't been so utterly painful, she would have found Sumner attacking the bludger quite hilarious. She completely forgot to clean off the bludger as she took the box from the Ravenclaw boy. Gritting her teeth, she kicked open the door to the broom shed and set down the box and club, not caring at all about putting things back where they belonged. The girl shook her head as Sumner asked if she was okay. "I think we're both far from okay. I think my shoulder's shred to pieces, and you're the human fountain." Using the arm that hadn't been smashed, she wrapped her slender arm around the fifth year's just in case he were to pass out. "We're going to the Hospital Wing. I'm useless at healing anything." Her tone was firm, but apologetic at the same time.

Sumner staggered and fought not to lock his knees; he did that and it was lights out for him. He leaned slightly on Estrella and told himself to suck it up. He'd had worse injuries but that only worked to tell himself once the actual pain was over. And he wasn't soaked with his own blood. Between the two of them, it was a long while before they actually made it to the hospital wing inside the castle.

On the way he spotted a small group of firsties who gasped at the sight of him. He couldn't help himself and started moaning. "It's out there," he moaned piteously, in a frightened, reedy and wet voice. Once they were passed the little kids he smirked to himself and grinned at Estrella. The sight was horrific in itself, as blood had spilled into his mouth and stained everything red. "Couldn't help myself." His words were nearly unintelligible from the break but he made himself be heard.

It seemed to be forever and a day before the two Ravenclaws made it through the front doors of the school. Despite the less than desirable situation they were in, Estrella found herself amused by the expressions on the first years' faces. Her mouth fell open as Sumner made an attempt to scare the kids. He gave them quite a fright. The young children were out of their way in no time. Fighting the urge to punch the fifth year, Estrella laughed, "You're an *******!" She said it jokingly of course, a mischievous grin consumed her features as they continued their slow and laborious journey to the Hospital Wing.

Sumner laughed, flecks of blood spattering the ground. He wiped her face on his sleeve. It didn't really help as he was still bleeding. All it managed to do was make him look more like a rogue Troll had bludgeoned him. "So my girlfriend says," he smirked. "Eff me, are we there yet?" It took them five more minutes to reach the wing.
