Being away from the common room, and with that her books and the homework she still had to do, felt good. Katherine had never been one to push herself into doing her homework, always telling herself she'd do it later and most of the times she actually did. Okay, sometimes she did it, but until now she had always seemed to manage, so she didn't really care. The young girl had always heavily disliked spending an entire day in a room with books laying all around her. She far more enjoyed wandering around the castle, most of the times ending up outside walking around the grounds or just sitting in silence, enjoying the fresh air. Making her way through a group of students, who were talking in the middle of the corridor, Kath finally found her way to the entrance of the courtyard. As soon as she stepped outside she breathed in the fresh air and made her way to the side, leaning against one of the stone pillars.
Although Katherine was a rather outgoing person and was always trying to socialize with people, she still hadn't found a lot of friends yet. She was the only one to blame though. Ever since she was little she had been very picky about who she wanted as her friend. She didn't mind talking to people and she would always be friendly to anyone who approached her in a friendly way, she just wasn't one to make friends easily. She would always want to make sure the person was fun to be around, good company, because what use would a friend be if he or she was dull and always sticking to the rules. No, Kath needed people who were confident of their case, people with their own opinion, people she would be able to have fun with. She was sure she'd find some people like that though, it's a big school right? And she still has three years to go.
