Literary Obsessions

Conan watched as the Ravenclaw boy searched through his stuff. The boy looked excited while looking for something that Conan had a pretty good idea on what it was. And when the boy had finished searching he brought out a white box, and when opened, Conan knew his guess was right. It was a jigsaw puzzle, and a five hundred piece set at the least. Conan watched as Raziel started solving the puzzle with incredible speed for a hard puzzle. "I love it as well," he replied to the boy. Raziel seemed happy solving the puzzle, but Conan was surprised when Raziel had suddenly stopped solving the puzzle. Conan felt uncomfortable, but not at the stare of the boy. It was the boy's sudden change of behavior that made Conan feel that way. Conan decided to use his ability, he focused on the boy and realized instantly what was wrong. "Raziel had remembered something," he thought. His family ability lets him figure out if someone was hiding something and gives him an idea on what it was. He decided to comfort Raziel, "It's going to be okay, Buddy. Now come on, we have to solve this puzzle, okay." he said and waited for the Ravenclaw's reply.

The young Ravenclaw continued to stare, stare at the yellow boy from the yellow house. But in reality, instead of the young boy, what the blue boy was seeing was his beloved grandmother, the person whom he misses so much. He wondered how she's doing at the moment, or if there'll ever be a chance for him to see her again. Out of all people, Raziel's grandmother is the one whom he treasured the most. She didn't judge him like other people did, nor did she treat him as a fragile being, instead, she saw him as who he is, a young kid who had lots of ambitions in life, a young kid, who, despite how weak he seemed, had more things to offer. He wasn't able to say goodbye to her, and though he somehow learned to push unwanted thoughts to the back of his mind, this one is not working. Surely, she'll be able to wait for him though, right? The blue boy snapped from his reverie when the gentle voice of the young puff rang in the air. He blinked his eyes a few times, visions, memories of his grandmother vanishing into thin air. With a slight tilt of his head and a confused look, the young Ravenclaw cast a glance at the yellow boy. Was he, what was that word again, comfort? Was the yellow boy comforting him? Was that the right term for it? A few seconds had passed and the young boy from the blue house is yet to respond. His mind processing the situation before him. With a few more blinks of his deep eyes, he spoke, voice sounding like whisper, albeit a little too soft. "I'm supposed to say thank you in this kind of situation, right?" It was an innocent statement, like a kid confirming from his parents that what he was doing was right. He placed one hand to the side, pushing himself from the floor as he crawled towards the hufflepuff. "Kamsamnida" He said as he touched the top of the yellow boy's hand before he crawled back to his previous position, pulling his knees closer to himself once more and turning his attention back to puzzle pieces scattered at the floor.

Raziel continued to place the puzzle pieces to its right positions, happenings moments earlier already forgotten. He continued and continued without any other care in the world, before he stopped once more, this time around, to look at his companion. "Conan should help too." It was a flat remark, pushing some of the white pieces to the other boy's position. Usually, the blue boy wouldn't really invite any other person to join him in this game of his, he'd just be perfectly fine with just doing it on his own, just like he usually does, but this time around, it wouldn't hurt to share, right? He picked a puzzle piece using his index finger and thumb only, raising it to eye level before he showed it to the other boy, "This one looks like a duck." His remain was impassive, as if what he was saying was full of seriousness before he placed it on the board again. "Raziel's really happy to meet Conan. He learned about the yellow house, and now, he found a new friend too." He remarked. It was this odd habit of his once more. From time to time, the young ravenclaw would speak in third person, a habit that he doesn't really notice at times until someone points it out. It's a bit of a childish quirk really, the way that he would refer to himself using third person point of view, a quirk that he hasn't been able to fix.

Conan smile as the Ravenclaw boy asked him if he was supposed to say thank you. "Up to you," he said, but the boy had already approached him and said what he thought was thanks. "Uh. You're welcome?" he told the boy was scratching his head. After the boy had told him to help, Conan had picked up a few pieces and put it in the puzzle, trying to guess if he had put them in the right places. After a while, Raziel had shown him a puzzle piece and Conan smile saying, "It sure does." After a while, Conan was surprised to hear what Raziel has said. "Then, Conan is really happy to meet Raziel. He learned about the blue house, found a new friend and get to play jigsaw puzzle," he said as he smile at the boy.

From the look of things, the yellow boy didn't understand what it was that the blue boy had said, after all, it was stated in his mother language; Korean. He didn't mean to speak in the said language though, it comes and it goes. Living under a house with parents who travels a lot, Raziel had been used to hearing different languages, and he had been able to adopt some of them too. So, it was kind of natural for him to just switch from one language to another, not really noticing when he's doing it already. "Ah, gomenasai. it's supposed to be like this ne?" The blue boy started before he went on his knees and bowed his head down, "honto ni, arigatou gozaimasu Conan-kun." He then went back to his original position once more, with his knees now closed to his chest again. "Conan's Japanese after all. Raziel's sorry that he spoke in Korean." The boy then continued with his puzzle, pausing every now and then as if deciding where the pieces should go. They were far from being over though, probably finished only a hundred pieces or so. But it was fine, Raziel would never ever get tired of this game after all. His eyes followed the yellow boy's hands as the said boy started to help in constructing the said puzzle. Unlike him though, the yellow boy seemed to have difficulties. Raziel took a candy from his pocket once more before he pointed at the piece on the yellow boy's hand. "That's not where you should put that." He said flatly as his left hand hold the other boy's and positioned it to the right place where the piece would fit. There was no arrogance on the blue boy's tone though, and hopefully, he hadn't offended the yellow boy at all. He was just pointing out what he thinks after all.

The smile from the boy from the yellow house had brought a smile on the blue boy's face too. It was rare, rare indeed. Raziel would smile on the smallest things, when he's excited, when he found a new bar of chocolate in their fridge, when he saw a flower blooming, but all of these would usually be done when he's alone. He rarely smiles a lot in front of other people, but during this day, he cannot possibly count how much he had smiled. And added to that, the yellow boy had confirmed their friendship once more, a thought which really made him happy. "Conan's really really kind." The young Ravenclaw said under his breath, statement not meant to be heard at all as he continued with what it was that he was doing. Comfortable silence then passed between them, with only the sound of the puzzle pieces being fit into the board and the sound of the pages being turned the only ones being heard. "Is Conan happy?" It was an innocent question, one that came about out of pure curiosity. The yellow boy had somehow made the younger boy from the blue house quite happy despite how short it was that they have known each other, but he haven't even asked about the other boy's feelings at all right? He might have been bored already, and much more, maybe he was just putting up with him. After all, the hufflepuff must have went to the library to read and not to chat, much more, to play with a weird Ravenclaw like him, right?

Conan was surprised to hear Raziel speaking Japanese, although he did know that Raziel's mother was part Japanese. "You're welcome, and, it's alright. You don't need to be Japanese nor Korean nor Swedish. Just be yourself, okay," he told the boy. Conan smiled when Raziel had guided him to where the proper places of the pieces were. "I see," he said. Conan continued to help Raziel with his puzzle, although not being much of help. He was surprised to hear a remark from Raziel, "Then, Raziel is really, reallly smart. And. really, really kind as well," he told him. After a while, Conan was even more surprised to hear the boy's question, "Listen to me," he said. "I am very happy that I met you right now, and doing these things. So, I don't ever want you to think that I'm unhappy whenever you're with me, okay," he told the Ravenclaw boy and patted his head. Conan was happy meeting the boy and wasn't unhappy at all, "How about Raziel? Are you happy?" he asked curiously.

The words coming from the yellow boy is like a breath of fresh air for the boy from the blue house. Conan, the said hufflepuff, seemed to really appreciate him for who he is, not forcing him at all to do things that he's not comfortable to do. And this single thought was enough to make the Ravenclaw happy. Knowing that there was someone who accepts him for who he is is something that the young boy appreciates. It is rare for him to find someone outside his family to accept him as he is after all. Though of course, though people sometimes judge him from the way he acts, teh way he looks, and the way he talks, Raziel had learned to not care about them at all. Again, as what he would always say, he is who he is. There's nothing wrong with that. He's not hurting anyone after all, is he? And besides, whatever happens, he was happy with his persona. Some people may find him to be weird and all, but then again, why should he care? Again, he's perfectly fine with who he is. "Hai.Yes." The blue boy's face remain lethargic, though from his tone, his appreciation could already be heard. It's just that he wasn't used to this kind of situation at all. It just felt a bit, foreign for him. The young hufflepuff continued to help him with the puzzle, placing the pieces on the board, and little by little, they were making progress. Though of course, seeing as it was the first time that the yellow boy had played the said game, he didn't help at all. But then again, it's the thought that counts. It doesn't matter how big the help was. He pushed a few more pieces to the other boy's direction. Correcting him every now and then whenever he would make a mistake. It's a Ravenclaw's trait right? Learning is a continuous process at all, it's good to be corrected at times, so one would learn something in return.

The boy from the yellow house's compliment made the younger boy smiled again, this time, it was more natural. Being told that he was smart once more made him really happy. Really happy indeed. "Thank you, arigatou, kamsamnida." He said, still smiling as he nodded his head. He then turned his attention back at the puzzle. Almost done. Having someone to help makes everything faster after all. "We're almost done." It was a statement that need not to be answered at all. The young Ravenclaw continued with the process of picking a piece and placing it back to the board. When he felt a hand on his head though, the young ravenclaw stopped everything that he was doing. It was an unfamiliar gesture, though somehow, it made him feel comfortable. He turned his attention to the said boy, his deep eyes locked at the other's eyes. Those innocent looking orbs of his held too much depth and confusion as he listened to the words of the yellow boy. So he was happy to be with him then? Was it the truth? Be it a truth or lie though, just being told that someone's happy with his company was enough to make the blue boy happy as well. He nodded his head, long blond hair covering part of his face as it bobbed along with his actions. He looked like a child who had been given a reward, to eager to show his happiness to his parents or something. "Raziel's...really, really, really happy." He said with a big smile on his face, as he clapped his hands a few times, not being able to contain the happiness that he was feeling at all. "Raziel's really happy to be friends with Conan."

Conan was glad that the Ravenclaw boy was now glad. Raziel thanked Conan in three languages and he replied, "You're welcome. Do itashimashite. And, uh, you're welcome? Sorry don't know any Korean," he said. Conan was happy and contented. When the boy told him that they were almost done, Conan nodded his head and said, "You're making progress. While I, ah," he paused. "Continued making mistakes," he finished. When he knew, that Raziel was happy and was glad to be his friend, Conan couldn't help but smile. "Me too, Raziel. Me too," he told the younger boy and continued with the puzzle.

At the yellow boy's words, the young Ravenclaw's lips tunred to smile, an innocent little smile that seconds later, had turned into a serious of laughter. Yes, for the first time that day, Raziel Kim had indeed laughed in front of another person. It wasn't a loud one, but his laugh was probably enough to send a smile on another's face too. It was a laugh that could probably warm one's heart, as it was a laughter which is definitely pure, full of innocent happiness and childlike glee. "Don't worry. Shinpai shinaide.. Koktchongmaseyo " Again, these simple words were uttered. Slowly, as if this would let the other party understand it even more. It's not like he was being arrogant at showing that he can speak these languages, he just found it to be quite amusing. As his parents travels a lot, and sometimes, with them too, they have been taught various languages from different parts of the world already. But these three are the ones that he would commonly use. English whenever he is at school, Korean when talking to his father, and Japanese when talking to his grandmother. Japanese words sounds adorable in his opinion, and it sounds soft too, and the way that they write is interesting too in the young Ravenclaw's eyes. It is rare though that he would use it, that's why, talking to this yellow boy had been quite fun too. "It should be Anieyo...you're welcome." He said slowly, emphasizing the words as he bounced his head a little, right hand counting the syllables in the said word.

The young boy shook his head as the yellow boy commented on him committing lots of mistakes. He didn't really mind it really. Though he had indeed placed the pieces in the wrong places for a couple of time, it's not like he was being a burden. Raziel had invited him to help, and no matter how small the help maybe, it was fine. Solving the puzzle with a friend had lifted his spirits and enthusiasm already after all. "No.Aniyo.Ie" He started once more, using three languages again. "Conan's been a big help to Raziel. and you're improving too." He then positioned the other boy's hand to the right place again. It was true though, the yellow boy was improving in solving the puzzle. Little by little, he's learning how to distinguish the pieces and learning where they should be placed. Raziel turned his attention back to the board again, just a few more minutes and probably, they'll be done. "Conan must have lots of friends. Cause he's really warm, just like the color yellow." The blue boy commented impassively, not really looking at the hufflepuff's direction as his right hand picked a duck shaped puzzle piece and placed it on the board, his left hand casually tapping the top of his kneecaps in rhythm with an unheard melody.

Conan smiled as his new found friend started speaking in three languages. Raziel spoke in English, then Japanese followed by Korean. And it was a wonderful sound for Conan's ears. He couldn't help but smile as the young boy told him the Korean of 'You are welcome'. It was indeed a wonderful thought. "Ah. Anieyo. You're welcome, right?" he said. When Raziel told him that it wasn't true that he was no help at all, Conan stared at one piece and tried to figure out its correct place, "Onegai, be correct," he thought to himself and place the puzzle piece. "Ne, Raziel. Does this go here?" he said as he pointed the puzzle piece and he could only pray to the Gods that he was right. When Raziel told him that he must have a lot of friends, Conan only shook his head, "Ie, just a handful of them. Arigato," he said as he smiled at the young Ravenclaw. "How about Raziel? Raziel is also warm, intelligent as well," he told the boy and waited for his reply.

Raziel nodded his head in confirmation, affirming the yellow boy's statement. He may have seemed a little arrogant as he was currently using three languages to communicate, but really, he has no ill intention in what it was that he was doing. He was just in the mood to do it, and besides, it was quite interesting too. He had no intention to confuse the other boy though, cause from the looks of how things are going, he really cannot understand any Korean word. With an uncharacteristic sigh, Raziel rested his head on his knees, hands playing with the puzzle pieces remaining in the floor. "Hai. Anieyo Conan." His voice sounded a little soft, his eyes boring at the older boy, his hands continuing to play with the puzzle. It's not like he was bored or anything, but Raziel is a person who cannot stay idle, he feels uncomfortable doing nothing, thus, even though there was no real reason to do it, he joined the remaining puzzle pieces together, forming a long line of the said pieces. He was probably wasting time as he turned his attention to this instead of continuing the puzzle, but well, he just have to do something else. If there's one flaw in him, it is that his attention can quickly be stolen by something that interest him, and if in such case that he had gotten tired of doing something, his focus would slowly falter. Not that he was tired of building the puzzle already, he just found it to be a little bit redundant already at the moment. He'll return to it later though. And besides, they're almost done, it would be no fun if they finished it that quickly.

He heard the yellow boy called out to him, but he nevertheless didn't answer, eyes still boring on the bold white puzzle pieces before him. He remained to be oblivious of what was happening around him until had unintentionally hit one of the books stacked around him, thus, resulting to it falling hard on the floor. Eyes were then turned on them for being the cause of the sudden noise. Raziel didn't paid attention to it though , as he crawled to pull the book, lightly touching it and putting it back on its previous position. He slowly stacked the books up again, not minding the whispers the he had heard. "Hai. Raziel believes that that piece goes there Conan." He said without even looking at the yellow boy as his attention was still focused on fixing the books around him, stacking them up as if he was building a barrier around himself. "Raziel treats everyone as his friend... I don't know abut them though." He answered flatly, as if he was just stating the obvious, as if his statement was something that is just so simple and basic. He then crawled back to his position, back leaning against the wall, before he pulled his knees closer to himself again. Finger tapping his kneecaps, eyes looking at something faraway, while he hummed a tune, somehow forgetting that he was not alone in the room.

Conan smiled as his friend, Raziel agreed that Anieyo was indeed the Korean of You're Welcome. He was glad to have met this young boy from the respected Ravenclaw House. He had a friend, he has been given entertainment and has been given a bit of knowledge as well. "Arigato, Raziel," the young boy told his friend. The young Hufflepuff was glad that Raziel told him that the piece was indeed in the right place, "I finally got one right," he told his friend gladly with a smile on his face. Conan frowned as Raziel's answer, "Well, Raziel need to have more confidence at how people treats him. Don't you think?" he told his friend as he watched him build barrier. "Because Raziel has a friend he won't need a tall barrier anymore, it will slowly fade away if you put trust in your friends," he said as he lessened the number of books surrounding the Ravenclaw.

Raziel watched as the boy from the yellow house moved and take some of the books that he had stacked around him. Little by little, the shadow cast upon him by the mountain of books that he had formed disappears. And little by little, he can see a better view of the room that he was in. His face remained impassive as he listened to the yellow boy talk, something about trust, confidence, and friends, words that he would often hear from his older sisters. He wasn't exactly sure about the boy's intention, or the things that he was trying to imply. He wasn't sure why the yellow boy was acting this way, as if he could see right through him, right through the impassive and lazy expression that he would so often wore. It's not like he was pretending to be someone else though, it was just him. Instead of dwelling on things like being alone, or not having anyone to trust, Raziel would be drifting away in his own world, thinking of things that would not so often cross someone else mind. He reads a lot, in fact, if he has some other obsession aside from sweets, it would be this literary inventions, and that's probably why he daydreams a lot. Why one moment he would be talking to one person, and a minute later, he would be staring off at something that doesn't really exist. And this is probably the reason why people deemed him to be really weird, someone who's a little too out of it, and that's also probably why he doesn't really have a lot of people considering him as a friend despite him considering everyone as his friends. Cause again, in Raziel's world, four things are extremely interesting; sweets, books, riddles, and humans.

"Wae? There's no barrier around Raziel though..." He stated quite meekly as he rested his head on his knees, peeking on his fringe to look at the yellow boy sitting near him. Silence passed between them, with Raziel just staring at the boy before him. Really, out of all the people that he had met at Hogwarts, this guy interests him the most. "I don't have barriers around me Conan.... but you see, it's a matter of perception, how you view things." Raziel said, shifting into first person speech. His statement was quite ambiguous, unclear, but he decided to just leave it at that. The yellow boy is free to have his own interpretation. Raziel's not the type of guy who would isolate himself from everyone else. It's not him who had shut everyone off, it is probably the other way around, he wasn't sure. "But if Raziel did have a barrier, then Raziel's happy that Conan had managed to get through it.." He shifted to third person once again as he slid down the floor, lying on the cold stone, hands outstretch on either side of him as he closed his eyes, just listening to the sound of book pages being turned and the footsteps of the students occupying the area. With the position that he was in, he was quite sure that a professor, or a librarian would reprimand him. It's not a good thought, but then, the floor looks so inviting that he had to just lie on it.
