Even though every fiber of her was more than ready to leave Hogwarts, Ivelisse would be a fool not to attend the yule ball one final time. Staying in her dorm would be sad and even though this meant she would've gone seven years without a date to the ball, she wasn't going to miss the opportunity to dress up. It didn't matter if no one else cared. She knew she looked good. Especially against the clean white of the fake snow all around which made her dress pop even more. Ive strutted into the great hall with a type of confidence she hadn't felt in a while, letting the mindset of not caring about what anyone at the school thought completely take over for her final months at the school. The only opinion she needed to care about was her own. She headed over to the huge christmas tree and picked up one of the presents, carefully shaking it in attempt to figure out if whatever was inside was worth taking with her.

Silas was enjoying some snacks from the table, particularly these mini pavlovas that the elves had made. The berries were wildly fresh, and Silas probably ate about 5 before he started walking around the hall. He enjoyed just observing people, and while most of his friends wanted dates, Silas was perfectly content engaging with anyone and everyone. As he found his way around, he noticed a girl who was really owning her outfit at the tree in the center of the room. Silas was an avid appreciater of fashion, and he always felt the need to compliment someone who was wearing an outfit instead of the common mistake of letting the outfit wear them. "Red is really your color," he said to her, switching his focus to the box she had picked up. "Found anything good, you think?"

Ivelisse wasn't really able to figure out what was in the present and was debating opening it to just see. If it turned out to be something dumb she could always put it back. She looked up when someone spoke to her, tossing some of her hair back over her shoulder as she took in the compliment. "Thanks." She smiled, looking the boy up and down. "Your suit's interesting. Definitely bolder than most students would dare." Ive said in an attempt to say something nice about his suit. It wasn't really her style, but she could appreciate him being more forward with his fashion than just a sad, black suit. "Nah, I don't think so." She replied to his question before putting the present down under the tree. "Probably just something silly or useless."

Silas smoothed out his suit jacket as the older girl somewhat complimented him. He could be somewhat aloof to tone, and if there was a hint of sarcasm in the girl's voice, he probably wouldn't have noticed. "Thanks! I think it can be good to stand out. Try new things, you know?" he said, eyeing the gift she just put down. "Silly gifts are fun though," he said, picking up the gift for himself. He shook it a little and listened to see if he could figure out what might be inside. "Maybe it's sweets?"

Ivelisse nodded at the boy's response. Trying new things was worth it. Sometimes. Standing out wasn't always a good thing though, but she didn't feel like this was the moment for such a discussion. "Hmm, I'd rather have something nice." She replied to his remark about silly gifts, shrugging when he said it might be sweets. "That would be.. dumb." Ive said, not so much thinking his guess was dumb but wondering if the professors could have actually thought that would be a good idea. "I mean there's literally a table filled with sweets and snacks."

Silas was surprised that the girl thought his idea was dumb until she explained further. "True, but like, candy we can take home. But maybe it's something more substantial. Maybe it's like, Hogwarts themed ornaments?" he suggested, looking at the box again. "Oh, I'm Silas," he continued, realizing he didn't know the older girl's name, and he knew many people felt awkward about asking names when they weren't formally introduced at the beginning of a conversation.
