Ceylonese wandered the corridors of Beauxbatons, her head hung low, tears pricking her eyes. Her long thick hair sheltered her from the looks and comments being thrown at her by her peers. The room around her seemed to fall silent, all she could hear was the beating of her heart echoing through her head. It was a miracle that the blood was still flowing through her veins at all, she felt as though he had ripped her heart from her and left her bleeding love. Her legs kept moving, her feet still moving on, one in front of the other, moving her body towards the doors. Her dirty hand wiped away the tears flowing down her cheeks, seemingly having no end. Her feet began to stop moving and her chest ached so much she leant her frail body against the stone wall of the school hall. Her body slid down it, crumpling onto the unforgiving floor below her. Ceylonese found her arms winding around her knees, drawing them in close to her body, holding onto them as if they were her only comfort.

Her heart kept pounding as the tears flowed down her cheeks and fell to the stone floor beneath her. Heartbroken she didn't know what to do, where to go. He was her only one, her true love. But he had cut her deep and she wouldn't stop bleeding. People walked by her, always keeping their distance, they didn't know what to do, how to help. They couldn't help.

Melody wandered out of her dormroom for the first time in what seemed like months. Apart from meals and lesson, it had, she realised. After her complicated and emotional first year at Hogwarts New Zealand, she had moved to Beauxbatons, which was nearer to her parents house in Britain anyway. She had arrived at Beauxbatons without anybody trying to speak to her. It was almost as if they knew she didn't talk. The only person that she had talked to was Ceylonese, her favourite cousin. She trusted the sixteen year old more than any other person in her family. However that had been about a year ago, when she had first arrived at Beauxbatons, and she hadn't really seen her cousin since.

As Melody walked slowly through the corridors, looking blankly ahead with hollow eyes, she made up her mind. She needed to go outside. She hadn't seen the sun in who knew how long. She rounded a corner, and immediately spotted a familiar figure hunched up against the wall. Melody instantly clicked to the situation. A broken heart. She'd been there. She knew. Without speaking, she sat down next to her cousin comfortingly.

Ceylonese felt somebody sit down next to her, she wondered who it could be, she didn't have many friends at school. She looked up briefly through her matted hair and caught sight of her cousin. "Melody!" she exclaimed, a smile spreading across her tear stained face. "Where have you been?" she asked, it had been a long time since the cousins had spoken, too long for Ceylonese's liking. She wiped the tears from her face with the edge of her cardigan and sat up a little straighter, she laughed at how pitiful she looked. "I must look a right mess" she said, her British accent playing through her mess. Ceylonese may have been born in France, but growing up in Britain meant her accent and phrases were quite heavily influenced by where she lived.

The young girl looked around, the corridors seemed to have emptied out, so her younger couisin and herself were the last ones left sitting there in the middle of the hall. Ceylonese looked over at Melody and waited for her to speak, lord knew the older cousin had no idea what to say, or where to begin for that matter.

A little smile lit up Melody's face when cousin seemed happy to see her. She was glad she had come across Ceylonese. A change in her boring routine was quite nice, she found. She loved the way her cousin's famaliar voice sounded. She missed British accents. Though there were some people here at Beauxbaton from the same country as her, Melody didn't speak to them, and mostly tuned out all the French being spoken around her. "Well-" her voice came out a squeakily. She cleared her throat, before starting again "I haven't been anywhere" she said rather flatly. It was true. It must have just been unfortunate coincidences that she and her cousin had missed each other in the hallways. Maybe the recent excitement of the Tri Wizard Tournement had kept everyone busy. Melody had, after all, gone down to watch the tasks.

Melody smiled again, a little more sympathetically this time "Not really..." she said quietly. Truthfully, Ceylonese did look rather pitiful, but Melody wasn't going to tell her that. She looked at the opposite wall, wondering what to say. She had to admit, she was curious about why Ceylonese was in such a state, but she didn't want to ask "How have you been?" she asked, not averting her eyes from the wall.

Ceylonese puzzled over the fact that the two girls had been in the same place all along but had still managed to miss eachother in the halls. "This place must be bigger than I thought" Ceylonese said, sitting up a little straighter and smiling a little. Ceylonese knew she looked pitiful so she sat up and tried to look normal, or at least as if nothing had happened. "I've been ok.." she said trailing off. She really didn't know what else to say so she turned the question on Melody. "What about you?" she asked. Things had been rough lately, but that didn't mean Ceylonese had to wallow in self pity. She needed to smile and get on with it. Thats what her mother would say.
