Scott had never been to a ball, but his mother had mailed him a thrifted suit to wear. He noticed dress robes were fairly popular as he arrived and wished he had known that. Being from a non-magical family, Scott wasn't quite used to the way wizards dressed, but luckily there was some crossover in attire. Walking through the large crowd full of students and teachers, Scott was starting to feel a little overwhelmed by all the people. He adjusted his suit that just didn't quite fit him right and walked towards one of the walls. Scott looked out across the dance floor at his classmates who were dancing the night away. He had never been good at dancing, but it did look like a lot of fun.

A very round belly, tall professor appeared by the entrance wearing what could either be a black dress or robes. Whatever it was, it felt comfortable on her skin and she wasn’t all that worried about what she was wearing at the Yule Ball. It didn’t concern her much last year, and this year with a little bean in the pot it made no difference. Madlyn maneuvered around carefully with so many students attending the Yule Ball, she had to be at least concerned where she moved. “Hello,” Madlyn greeted the young Hufflepuff, craning her neck to one side. “Why aren’t you having fun? Hmm, you look a little lonely over there.”

Scott gave a small smile towards the professor as she approached. He was short for his age, but the professor was incredibly tall. "Hello" He replied as he shifted his feet. The professor's question had thrown him off, he wasn't not having fun, but she was right about him being lonely. "I'm not really good at dancing." Scott felt silly for giving this excuse. If he learned one thing this semester at Hogwarts it was to try his best, no matter what. Learning magic and being far from home helped him open up to trying new things.

Madlyn returns the friendly smile, hers spreading a bit wider than she had intended. She didn’t want to scare off the little first year. “Oh, I don’t believe that. You can move your feet right, and your arms? Hmm,” Madlyn extended out her long arm with an open hand for him to take. “Anybody can dance, as long as you’re moving you’re dancing. Even if you do happen to look silly. Would you like to give it a try?” she offered, counting on him to say yes. Even if she would have to haunch over just a little to move with him, Madlyn wouldn’t mind giving it a go.
