It was rare for Daisuke to be outside. Most of the previous year had been spent indoors, hiding out in the Hufflepuff Common Room to be away from his twin. It had worked well in the last year - only spending time outside of the Common Room during meals and classes meant that there was very little chance for Daisuke to encounter Hachiro at all. He had to admit though that doing that had made just a little bit stir crazy. Which is why he'd decided that this year, he was going to get out of bed early. Early enough that he thinks Hachiro wouldn't even think to be out of bed. He was sat out on the Great Lawn, bundled in warm enough clothes and reading his Astronomy text as he suppressed a yawn. Despite the sleepiness though, he had to admit that this was nice and he was definitely going to keep doing this for a while.

Chiro was out for a wander as he liked to be sometimes during the day, and he immediately spotted a rather familiar, if a little abstract, figure hunched over something. He couldn’t tell from this distance but it might’ve been a book. He grinned, well, what was Daisy doing out here? Didn’t he usually like to keep himself locked away like some creepy little cryptid? The fact he was out here must have meant he was missing his brother dearly and wanted him to come say hi and so that was sort of what Chiro had in mind when he started to sneak up behind him. He leaned in just enough for his voice to carry, but not enough to get smacked in the face when Daisy inevitably reacted. “Aw, look at you, Daisy. Touchin’ grass like a real boy.” He quickly ducked around and plopped down next to his brother without even bothering to wait for an invitation. “What’s the matter? Hufflepuff cave finally run outta air?”

Of all the times. Hachiro wasn't even a morning person - like he wouldn't get up if there wasn't anything specific for him to get up for. But somehow, somehow, his brother actually got out of the Slytherin Common Room early in the morning and ended up finding him. He nearly jumped in the air when his brother's voice came from behind him, slamming his book closed as he looked at Hachiro and squirmed as his twin sat down next to him. "I think I should go back, it's almost time for breakfast," he said because he mostly had a peaceful first year when he'd managed to avoid his twin for most of the year after they were sorted into different houses. Now, he would prefer it continue through his second year thank you very much. Maybe he should find a different spot next time, he thought as he made to pull his bag so he can stuff his book back into it.

Chiro snorted, in his mind this was friendly banter between brothers, he didn’t think his brother actually hated him. It was all harmless fun wasn’t it? Of course it was - they were brothers. He flopped dramatically onto the grass, his back landing on a rather pointy stick, making him curse under his breath before he managed to move the stick that was making him uncomfortable. That was annoying, he’d been trying to look cool. “Wow, Daisy, you just got out here and you’re already running away? Hurtful. I was starting to think you missed me.” He looked up at the sky, and then rolled onto his side to eye his brother's bag. “You know, I almost didn’t recognise you. Sunlight? Fresh air? Being vertical before noon? What happened to my hermit brother?” His brother had been spending so much time in his common room - and it was obviously because he was sleeping - that Chiro hadn’t seen him much.
