School work was already starting to become a sort of mess for Isabelle Vernier. She hadn't seen her family in a long time which was starting to make her slightly homesick, despite the fact that she didn't really know where her home was anymore. Throughout her whole life, her family moved all around France trying to find a good place for them to live. Her father had told her now that everything was permanent after he married his new wife which Isabelle kind of found pretty hard to believe. She hadn't really liked her spoilt daughter very much and was going to move out of the place as soon as she could just to get away from her. Truthfully, Isabelle only disliked her because her father didn't and was admittedly quite jealous of her. If only Isabelle was able to get away with many of the things her step-sister did when she was a child. Life would have been much easier.

As Isabelle made her way out of her dormitory, she found her feet yet again leading her towards the library. Despite Christmas only just being over, she had wanted to study as much as she could to get a good head start on the upcoming semester. Her father had taught her many things whilst she was homeschooled but not even what he had taught her satisfied her enough. She wanted to do as well as she could at Beauxbatons to show her father that she was good enough for it and that he wasn't wasting his money on sending her to a really good school for nothing. When she entered the library, Isabelle took a seat at the nearest available table and dumped all of her textbooks onto it. She sighed and took a seat before taking out her quill and parchment, ready to take notes on all of the information in front of her. It was quite a lot of work but she was ready to take it on. With her head down, she scribbled away, not trying to worry about many of the distractions that could take place.

The last few month had been a bit of a whirlwind for December. She had spent most of the summer months in New Zealand (where it was actually winter) and it seemed for a long time like she would be going to school at Hogwarts in New Zealand, the girl was coming to like the country and had been getting excited at the prospect of going to the school, but it had not come about. Instead her father had surprised her with enrollment at Beauxbatons. On her first glimpse of the school she had fallen in love with it and had forgotten all about Hogwarts New Zealand and what could have been.

Being home schooled by her father hadn't prepared her for life in a school, regular lessons, homework, intense studying, it was all new to her. More so was the constant flow of people. December had never spent so much time in the presence of other people before, she wasn't the best when it came to social interaction so it was something she found difficult. The girl found herself spending a lot of time in the library because it was somewhere she could be alone and focus on keeping up with her studies. Most of tables were already full, December spotted one where there was only one person sat at it she decided to sit at that one. She didn't make eye contact with the girl at the table and just took a seat and pulled out one of her textbooks.

It didn't take long before a distraction occurred and Isabelle sighed, looking up to see what it was. A girl who looked about her own age walked over to her table and decided she would sit down without a word. Isabelle gave her a dirty look and watched her every move as she began to open up a textbook and study just like she was. Couldn't she see that the table was already occupied? If she was one of Isabelle's siblings, she would most likely have her face bitten off, but Isabelle simply sat there, unsure what to do. It wasn't that Isabelle didn't like company (if the girl had just asked her then she would gladly say yes); it was just that she thought the girl was being quite rude and was only trying to do it to invade her privacy.

"E-excuse me." she spoke up in French after quite a long moment of silence. Her hands began to shake and she balled them up into fists underneath her desk. She did not want the girl to see that she was nervous and tried her best to be the more superior one. "Y-you could have a-asked." she spoke a bit louder this time, emphasising the last word, and felt herself starting to sweat. Talking to people wasn't always her best talent but she hoped that the girl would take the hint and perhaps try again. There was no harm in asking and it made Isabelle feel slightly uncomfortable. The girl in front of her didn't look like trouble at all which was probably the main reason why she decided to speak up. If she looked more muscular then maybe Isabelle wouldn't stand a chance and she was not going to test that theory. She just hoped that that wasn't going to suddenly be the case.
