Laura was having one of those days where she thought about how things used to be, it made her equal parts happy and sad. Happy because she was glad to back here in New Zealand the place she had 'come' from. But it made her sad to think of all the years she spent here hoping and praying for a home of her own. Now she was back again and had a place to call home but it wasn't that place she had always wanted, a place with family and friends and people who love you and tell you everything's okay. What she had was different a place to live and sleep, not yet a home and Laura was having her doubts that it ever would be. It were times like this when she started thinking about all these things she reminded herself that someday everything would come together and she had to do things for herself and not wait for the future. That was why she had gotten dressed and headed outside for some fresh air.

Laura smiled as she made her way through Brightstone. She remembered coming here when she was younger, and it helped her to think of moving here as a good thing. It hadn't been easy after living in France so long while attending school. Laura had friends and people who cared about her there. Here there were only the children left and Bayview. Most of the kids Laura had grown up with had either been adopted or had moved away so there really wasn't anyone for her to visit or try and reconnect. Coming back here was a fresh start for Laura she felt that maybe if she stayed here she could figure out if there was anyone out there for her.

Thinking about all this Laura realized she was coming to a park that she didn't remember very well, but it was sunny and welcoming so Laura followed one of the paths into the park and took it all in. All the trees and benches lined with families and children, dogs and kites. It made Laura smile seeing the childhood she was never able to have. Continuing farther she found a place without many benches and more trees. It was quiet and seemed a nice enough place to stop and think, so Laura sat under a large tree and hummed idly to herself and soaked in the sun.

Elijah was happy to be back in New Zealand where he got to spend a few happy years of his childhood with his mother before she got ill. He loved this place when he was young and had many fun memories but being here now made him miss his mother. Her kindness and the way her face lit up when she was happy, especially when they first managed to get away and live here. He just wished they had had longer.

He hoped to make some friends here but so far he hadn't made much progress in that respect. It was lonely not having anyone around, especially being the social person he was. But at least here he had happy memories to make it feel more like home. He decided it wasn't much use to sit around the house so headed out into Brightstone once again.

It was still sunny out as he headed towards the park. He had enjoyed the park growing up here for the time he did, and in his recent time here had also been here often. It was a great place to go to get out of the house and today was no exception. Elijah wandered through smiling at the site of children flying kites.

As he continued to wander through he noticed a quiet spot with a girl sat there alone under a tree. She looked quite relaxed and after a moments hesitation he decided to go over and speak to her. He approached to here her humming to herself, stopping a short way away he asked "Mind if I join you?" Smiling slightly as he did so.

Laura's thoughts had drifted to more peaceful things after sitting under the tree for a while as she had hoped they would. She had been trying to think of some lyrics to her humming when she heard a voice ask if he could join her. Laura smiled and looked up to see a dark haired boy who looked to be around her age. "Not at all." Laura was glad for the company. Laura had been used to constantly doing things with friends and keeping busy after she graduated from Beauxbatons. Coming back here she had assumed she would magically have friends the second she moved in but had realized now things didn't work like that. But seeing this boy in front of her Laura new this was a start and that as soon as she started meeting new people she would settle into life here easily.

Patting the grass beside her Laura motioned for the boy to join her. "My names Laura." Laura didn't have a problem being social she had made many friends in France but she had been apart of a group for so long it felt weird starting from scratch. She wondered what this new person would be like, what kind of music and if he was a wizard. Being that they were in Brightstone made her think the odds of him being a wizard were high but you could never be sure. In a way it was almost exciting to Laura not knowing anything about the person before her and having the possibility of finding out if things went well.

Laura didn't want to get her hopes up right away because she knew not every random person that you meet on the street becomes a friend, but he had approached her and asked to sit with her. So it seemed obvious to her that he was looking to talk to someone, and being open minded she liked to believe you could befriend almost anyone.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been really busy recently :erm:

Elijah smiled again and sat down next to the girl as she patted the grass beside her telling him that she didn't mind him being there. This is a start he thought. As he sat down she told him her name, "Laura, that's a nice name" He replied as her turned to face her "I'm Elijah, nice to meet you".

The smile was still across his face, and he hoped that he wasn't smiling too much and that he didn't look weird. He was trying to be friendly but getting back into the swing off making friends again especially in a country that hadn't been to in a while was not going as smoothly as he had hoped. He was used to having friends, and making new ones often but now he was out here on his own it was more difficult.

He did hope that this girl he had joined sitting under the tree however would become a good friend, he was in much need of one of those again. Granted not all strangers sitting under a tree would become your friend but the girl seemed nice and so far it seemed to be going well.

Laura watched as the boy sat down, he was cuter close up, Laura shook the thought from her head she didn't want to start off a relationship based on that. He introduced himself as Elijah and said she had a pretty name. Laura smiled at that, she had always loved her name bit often wondered about the meaning behind it. Was she named after her grandmother, had her parents just thought it was pretty as well. Laura tried not to dwell on things like that but it was hard not knowing anything about her heritage. "Thank you, nice to meet you too Elijah. I've never known anyone named Elijah before." Laura said thinking aloud. It would be an easy name to remember if they became friends. Back in France she had a lot of friends with the same name she knew several Jean's and Marie's, it got confusing after a while.

Laura wondered what Elijah was doing this far into the park away from everyone else but didn't ask.She had come this far for her own reasons and she didn't want to get annoying asking too many questions, they had just met after all. Instead she decided she would just talk and see where it lead, "It's so pretty this time of year. I'd almost forgotten how nice New Zealand is." Laura smiled thinking about the woods near the place where she grew up. It was very similar to what she was seeing now. Then she realized she had been kind of vague and added, "I just moved back I went to school at Beauxbatons." Satisfied that she had opened a good lane for conversation Laura smiled and waited for Elijah's response.
