Laura was having one of those days where she thought about how things used to be, it made her equal parts happy and sad. Happy because she was glad to back here in New Zealand the place she had 'come' from. But it made her sad to think of all the years she spent here hoping and praying for a home of her own. Now she was back again and had a place to call home but it wasn't that place she had always wanted, a place with family and friends and people who love you and tell you everything's okay. What she had was different a place to live and sleep, not yet a home and Laura was having her doubts that it ever would be. It were times like this when she started thinking about all these things she reminded herself that someday everything would come together and she had to do things for herself and not wait for the future. That was why she had gotten dressed and headed outside for some fresh air.
Laura smiled as she made her way through Brightstone. She remembered coming here when she was younger, and it helped her to think of moving here as a good thing. It hadn't been easy after living in France so long while attending school. Laura had friends and people who cared about her there. Here there were only the children left and Bayview. Most of the kids Laura had grown up with had either been adopted or had moved away so there really wasn't anyone for her to visit or try and reconnect. Coming back here was a fresh start for Laura she felt that maybe if she stayed here she could figure out if there was anyone out there for her.
Thinking about all this Laura realized she was coming to a park that she didn't remember very well, but it was sunny and welcoming so Laura followed one of the paths into the park and took it all in. All the trees and benches lined with families and children, dogs and kites. It made Laura smile seeing the childhood she was never able to have. Continuing farther she found a place without many benches and more trees. It was quiet and seemed a nice enough place to stop and think, so Laura sat under a large tree and hummed idly to herself and soaked in the sun.
