Solitude was increasingly becoming Maddie's best friend and she found it most effective when she was outside. It was self imposed however, she had decided to keep her distance from her friends to protect herself, and in some respects, them. The only person she could really turn to was her cousin but even she seemed a little busy and bored of Maddie these days. She found an empty bench that was surrounded by heather which she sat upon. She decided that it would be the perfect place to compose a letter to her cousin and hopefully this one would warrant a longer reply than the ones she had received previously.

The gardens were quickly becoming one of Marisol's most frequently visited places at Hogwarts. Of course it didn't help that the secret entrance to the Howling Cavern happened to be concealed deep within the garden, but that wasn't the only reason the Gryffindor frequented the area. However visiting the gardens in her free time also provided a nice cover for if she was ever caught going or leaving the cavern, since she was always here. Now that the weather was so nice and she was feeling much better, Marisol decided to write a letter back to Ellie in the comfort of the outdoors. As she made her way through the maze of a garden to her favorite bench, she walked straight up to her favorite bench and then realized someone was already there. "Oh," she said in surprise. She had been so used to the grounds being isolated over the holidays but now that school had started up again all the students were back again. "Sorry I didn't realize you were here," she said with a small apologetic chuckle, hoping she hadn't startled the girl who looked deep in thought.

Maddie looked up at the voice and realised that it was a Gryffindor girl that was a little younger than herself and she smiled at her. "Oh, hi. Did you want to sit too?" she asked moving over a little to make space for her "it's Marisol right?" Maddie asked as she rolled up her parchment and replaced the top of her ink and put her things back in her bag.

Marisol smiled when the girl looked up and addressed her, nodding slightly at her question. She was going to say she could just find somewhere else to sit but the girl was already making space for her so Marisol decided to take up the invitation because she had seen the girl around a lot before. "Thanks," she said as she took a seat. She saw her rolling up what looked like a letter and Marisol held up her own parchment and quill, though it wasn't written on yet. "Looks like we both came here for the same thing," she chuckled lightly. Marisol smiled when the girl got her name correct, she hadn't expected anyone outside of her circle to have noticed her at Hogwarts. "Yeah, how did you know?" she laughed. "And you're Maddie right?" she asked even though she already knew the answer.
