It was going to be so weird, but he was so ready. He'd never been in a real school before, and there was more than just something new to think about. He could make new friends and all sorts of other things too, and it was really exciting that he would get to know more about how scholl's worked and also more about his family's time at the school, well his mother at least. Not to mention his Aunt's and Uncle's, because he didn't get to see them very often. Still, one of the good things about all of this was that he would get to spend more time with Kael... although maybe that wasn't such a good thing since he was never quite sure if he could consider the other boy a friend. Still, Elio was probably friendly enough for the both of them so he didn't really think it mattered. Grinning as he stepped into the great hall for breakfast, he spotted Kael immediately, since he wasn't hard to spot. He always had a certain look on his face of displeasure, and now with more of his family in the school, Elio doubted there would be any peace for him, not for Kael either, but mostly for him he was sure because he would probably have to deal with Kael's moods. Well, they were sort of friends, right? "Kael!" he called, plopping down at the Slytherin table with the only other person he really knew in the entire school. "Are you glad to see me? My mum says hi by the way."

@Mikael Nightray

Mikael was dreading breakfast. Between his sister and Elio, it was only a matter of when and not if either would come to bother him. He'd managed to avoid both since the Start of the Year feast but he doubted that he'd be able to avoid them for much longer. What Aunt Kelsey was thinking when she decided to send Elio to Hogwarts New Zealand after all this years was beyond Kael. He arrived in the Great Hall relatively early, hoping to avoid the rush of people and his family entirely. Of course, he should have expected that it was something that was never going to happen. He should have sat next to Horror. Maybe he would have been enough of a deterrent. Mikael snorted at the thought, he doubted Elio would even bother noticing the said plausible deterrent. He couldn't help but glare though at his... Kael didn't know what to call him but he was the son of his mum's friend? Was that what that suddenly sat at the Slytherin table despite wearing obviously Gryffindor clothes. "No," he said and wondered if ignoring him would work better. It probably would not. "Go back to your table Elio."

Elio looked at Kael, tilting his head slightly. His eyes twinkled with unbridled enthusiasm despite Kael's curt response. “Come on, Kael, don’t be like that. It’s my first day, and I wanted to sit with someone I know. Besides, it’s not like I’m going to bite.” He flashed his sort of friend a wide grin, taking a piece of toast from one of the trays in front of him and looking around for some jam. The air was casual, despite the frigid winds coming from his right. (Kael) Elio leaned in a bit closer, his tone light and cheerful. “Besides, I’m here now, so might as well make the best of it. Hogwarts is supposed to be an adventure, right?” He glanced around the Slytherin table with genuine curiosity, hoping to engage Kael in conversation. “So, how’s your morning been so far? Anything interesting happening at the Slytherin table?” He tilted his head, trying to gauge if there was anything worth talking about that might spark Kael’s interest. “I mean, I’m still trying to get a feel for everything here, so any little tidbits you can share would be great. Maybe you’ve got some insider info on the best spots to hang out or avoid?” He got the sneaking suspicion one of those spots would be an Elio free zone.

"Then get to know your housemates," Mikael bit out, wondering if it would be worth it to just leave. But it would be quite a while until lunch and he didn't really feel like wandering down to the kitchens to bother the house elves because Elio was being an idiot. "No. It is a school," he said completely deadpan. Kael doesn't even bother with giving a response because giving Elio gossip would just be feeding fuel to the fire that he so badly wants to put out. He even glared at his housemates because none of them better give Elio anything, otherwise he was never going to leave. Thankfully, they were smart enough to just ignore the Gryffindor boy. Mikael was getting progressively annoyed because he was hungry and the Gryffindor just wasn't leaving. He gave up and grabbed some fruit from the table and began to eat them, trying his best to ignore the annoyance beside him but Merlin was it difficult. "Hang out at the Cliffs and die. Avoid anywhere I am currently at."

Elio grinned at Kael. He was always like this, so serious, threatening. It was a little tiring having to be so chill about all of it, his mother had always told him he had to play nice, and so he did, but clearly people hadn't given Kael that same advice. The older that Elio had gotten the more the negativity grated on him, but he knew he had to be the bigger person, his mother put so much faith in him, so much of herself and she'd raised him entirely on her own, what else could he do but to emulate her? Wasn't that the point of all of this? Everything he was here to do was for his mum. That meant a lot to him. "Yes, but a school can be an adventure as well," he countered, biting into some of the toast he'd picked up from the abundance of food. "Avoid the cliffs is good advice, but I can't tell if you're telling me I will die or that people that hang out at the cliffs in general will die, and it's a really important distinction," he said, leaning slightly back in his seat to look down the table. "Okay, what about some more advice, who should I avoid other than you?"

Mikael didn't even want to argue with Elio about school being an adventure. He supposed it would be to Elio been homeschooled his whole life. To Kael, school has just been boring. There were too many people to keep track of and an endless pile of homework listed. Not to mention that this year there was an abundance of family members in the castle. Elio just seemed to be the most prominent one right now, he supposed he should be grateful that Eury hadn't had any ideas so far. "People have died up on those Cliffs. Take it how you will," he said completely deadpan. He didn't actually confirm that but he'd heard the rumors. And besides, there were memorials of kids who died in this castle. The Cliffs seemed like one way to go. Even then, he feels like he'd already given his Elio too much. "Elio," he says, eye closed as he pinches the bridge of his nose to stave off the oncoming headache. "Do I really look like someone who engages in idle gossip just to inform you about who you need to avoid?" he says with much resignation that he was capable of showing in public.

That was a good thing wasn't it? That no one had died on the cliffs? Why did Kael want to make it sound so ominous and why did he get the distinct impression that if they were there right now, he might even try to fling him off? Sometimes he wondered what Kael was thinking, but he could never seem to get a read on him, he couldn't seem to work him out. He had been like this for as long as Elio had known him too, and it still didn't help him with any insight into how their world worked. The Edogawa's and Nightray's specifically. "So in other words, it's safe, yeah?" he wasn't about to tho up there because he'd heard it was out of bounds and he's not looking to get himself into trouble in his new school by the new Head of House. It would be a pretty dumb move he felt, considering everything else. It would just be best to keep his head down for now, he thought, and worry about everything else later. "You don't, but I was hoping you would know anyway, you're the quiet kind of guy, that means you hear things right? Like people in your dorm, who should I avoid of them? Anyone older I should look out for? Professors? I already know I have to look out for Uncle Conan," he said, cringing because it was going to be weird to refer to him as Professor now. He'd always been Uncle Conan since Elio was like five.

Mikael wondered why Elio was a family friend at all when his brain didn't even seem to work properly. In what world was the Cliffs safe when he'd just said that people had died there? He needed a replacement. One that wasn't this... Kael couldn't even figure out what Elio was, but he definitely needed a different family friend if that's what they were like. He decided not to give him any further response about the Cliffs, figuring that he was only going to give himself a headache. He and Elio could go around in circles for a long while, and he really just was not going to deal with that this morning. Today. At all. And yet Elio still thought that he'd be able to provide him with the type of information as to who to avoid. The simple answer would have been everyone. But Elio had never been one to not poke his nose in other people's business. If Elio was capable of avoiding people, Kael wouldn't have to deal with him at all. "Anyone with the last name Styx or Zhefarovich," he said in resignation. He wasn't sure what Horror would think of Kael telling Elio to basically avoid him and any of his family but he was already dealing with Hinata interacting with him. Besides, those two families had tempers. He didn't want to deal with Aunt Kelsey being miserable if Elio died pissing people off - even if that was a nearly foregone conclusion. It was only a matter of when and how.

Elio was completely oblivious to his friend plotting his death in his head, which was probably a good thing or he might have been mildly upset. He nodded, pretending to write this information down in a fake notebook, even moving to lick the tip of his fake quill and dip it in fake ink to write it in his fake notebook. Dedication for the win. "Styx and Zhefarovich, got it," he said, nodding to himself. He didn't think he'd met anyone by that name yet, so he was going to have to check in with the other boys in his dorm to see if any of them had that last name. He didn't think so off of the top of his head, and there weren't many boys in his dorm to begin with, but there was probably one or two in his house, which might be a bit of a problem. "And if there is a Zhefarovich or a Styx in my house? Because I know mama said they're a bit like swinging a dead cat around, you'll always run into one," he said, frowning. He couldn't half tell if Kael was pulling his leg or not. He might not of really been much of a joker, but he was as sarcastic as they came and maybe this was some kind of sarcastic approach to... whatever.
