Xavier was disgruntled to find out that the forbidden forest was truly as it's namesake and entirely forbidden so he had temporarily resorted to skimming the forests edge in his quest to search for worms. The lack of trees caused him to feel frustrated so it didn't take him long to throw caution to the wind and walk directly into the forest so he could continue searching with more success. Since arriving in New Zealand, Xavier had been curious to discover the many differences the environment had to Australia and among those curiosities was a question to whether or not worms were the same everywhere. He already knew that the spiders in New Zealand weren't as dangerous, and he also already knew that New Zealand was too cold to have as many reptiles as Australia. He knelt down at the base of a tree and began digging his hands into the dampened soil. He had yet to find any worms, but he was determined to find at least one. They were merely another question he had about the strange and new environment he found himself in since starting school and answering that question was his only goal for that day. A smile made it's way onto his features as he continued to dig a small hole in the soil in front of him. From his eleven years of being alive, Xavier had known that worms could always be found in the dirt closest to trees so he knew that if he continued digging he would find a worm sooner or later.

this is the worst. i promise my posts will get better!

Never one to make reckless choices, Zara had no intention of ever going into the Forbidden Forest. Despite "Auntie" Jenna's assurances that it was a safe spot as far she she remembered it, the Ravenclaw wasn't that taken with the idea of going into a place that had strict rules about it. She didn't see the harm in walking along the tree line, though. She continued her walk until she saw ahead that someone had walked into the forest. Aside from the fact that there were unknown dangers there, it would be easy enough to get turned in circles from a forest so dense. Not wishing to find that there would be a missing student so early into the school year because he hadn't brought along someone with him, the dark haired first year followed. "Hey!" she called ahead to him, still further behind but able to see a curly head of blonde hair. When she caught up to him Zara said, "Um... You're not meant to be in here! You could come across a Troll or something." She hardly wanted to be a nag but her concern was starting to bubble over at the thought of being here. Sure she knew Trolls were ridiculously stupid things but that wouldn't keep them from taking a swing at whoever this crouched boy was.

"Aha!" Xavier exclaimed when his hands brushed over the slimy yet familiar feeling of a worm in the dirt his hands were buried in. He pushed his hands deeper into the soil and pulled out a handful which he inspected and smiled at when he saw there was not one worm, but four inching in all directions now that they had been exposed to air. At a first glance the worms looked exactly the same as the worms he knew all too well back in Australia though that didn't stop the Hufflepuff from marveling at his discovery. The sound of a girl's voice interrupted his sense of accomplishment but he paid no mind to her words of warning about the forest he had recklessly walked into and instead turned in her direction with an expression of bliss across his face as he shoved the clump of worm ridden dirt towards her. "I found them! I finally found them!" The glee in his voice was unmistakable. "Look! Aren't they beautiful?" He asked, referencing the slimy creatures in his hand. The worms might have looked disgusting to other people but Xavier thought they were amazing and wanted to show off their beauty.

As the boy exclaimed that he had found something, Zara teetered closer curiously. That was until he showed her just what he was doing. Worms! She gasped from the shock of them being so close to her. While she wasn't the primmest of girls Zara didn't enjoy dirty, grubby little things like this weird boy clearly did. Not as much answering her question but denying the entire circumstance, Zara said, "Nope." This was not happening. She turned and started to walk away, shaking her head in disbelief at what the boy was risking trouble for.

Xavier's expression fell into a mix of confusion and shock as the girl refused to appreciate the beauty of the worms he discovered. As she began to walk away he dusted the dirt in his hands back to the ground and left the worms behind, making a mental note of where he left them so he could return later but not until he figured out what was wrong with the girl that interrupted him. He chased after her, shouting to call her attention and questioning her when he caught up. "What's wrong?" He queried. "Don't you like worms?" The answer was obvious but it was lost on his clueless mind. Xavier thrived on knowing other people's points of view but until he figured it out he may as well have been as brainless as one of the worms he had been searching for.

Zara continued walking as she was followed back towards the forest edge by the weird boy as she was in no way deserving get of such strange happenings when her intent had been so pure. The Ravenclaw hoped she wasn't being chased while he had worms in his hands but he seemed genuinely unsure why her reaction had been so strong so she stopped short and turned sharply on her heel. "Of course I don't like worms. They're disgusting!" it made no sense as to why the boy might like them because they lived in the dirt and some even were cannibals. How could they ever be liked? Zara was certain that it was only the strange, alone and the decrepid .
who might ever enjoy such a creature. She had no intent of befriending these sorts of people, Zara cared about the opinions of others, even if she sometimes thought Iowly of some of them.

Xavier's steps halted a few seconds after the girl stopped and turned to face him. He dusted any remaining dirt from his hands on his shorts as she said worms were disgusting and couldn't help himself frowning at that comment. Worms were tiny, funny, wriggly creatures that made playing in the dirt even more fun, not once in his life had Xavier ever thought of worms as disgusting so he simply did not understand the girl's point of view and did not hesitate to ask her about it. "Why are they disgusting?" Was all he managed to say without stating something about his own opinions on worms. He had a feeling if he defended his side it would send the girl away on her feet again and he wasn't about to let that happen without getting some kind of answer from her and a reason to put behind her sudden reaction.

blahhhh
