Usually Ilija would never have worries about going to the Halloween feast. There was always a large turn out or so he heard, which no doubt would mean he would be forced to mingle. This year however, with his confidence boosted by growing his comfort zone over the last few months, the Hufflepuff has chosen to attend. Mhairi has offered to keep him company too but he knew if he was seen tagging along with his older sister then it may well have defeated the point of him trying to be braver than he usually was.

His costume was a little uncomfortable, it was hot and restrictive but at least he looked the part as the entered the room, not feeling too shy just yet as he took note of everyone else that was there, some even more lavishly than he. Too nervous to eat nor jump straight into a conversation, the fourth year proceeded to stand by one edge, becoming engrossed in “fixing” his bow that seemed a little wonky. Hopefully soon he’d find someone he was confident enough to talk to, otherwise right now he was feeling like coming down would have been a mistake.

Padme had really enjoyed the halloween of the last year, she hadn't gone to out for her costume but this year she was doing a little of the same theme. She'd gone as an old school muggle depication of a witch, and this year she was a medieval depiction of a princess, complete with cone hat and all too heavy and long dress. She liked dressing in things that were both, obvious and easy. There was nothing to this costume. She was in something that children would wear for halloween, but she loved it. Padme walked into the room and after meeting her brother for a little bit and finding out that he had a girlfriend, she headed away, letting him get back to it, he seemed too busy and stressed to have to deal with her. She continued to make her way around the room until she spotted Ilija, she liked him. He was nice and he seemed interested in her. She didn't think that he was interested in her as more than a friend, but she could admit that she had a tiny - oh so tiny - crush on him. And perhaps she was lying to herself a little about how much she was crushing on him, but her interest in him, brought Padme to walk over to him, he seemed perhaps a little nervous, "Hey, will you be my knight?" Padme said as a little joke, in reference to his and her costume and she smiled at him warmly.

Ilija was just making sure that the string on his bow was definitely still attached to the wood when he heard a voice. He looked up, unsure if he was being spoken to but then it wasn’t like he’d stood in a group, and when his eyes landed on Padme he grinned from ear to ear. He got on well with the fellow Hufflepuff, she was calm and they had good conversation, and it was the first time he appreciated her coming to his rescue. If anything she was the knight of their friendship. “Hi Padme,” glancing up and down at her costume, it was obvious that she was a princess but he liked how she’d put her costume together. “Sure,” he wasn’t exactly sure what it meant to be someone else’s knight in the context of Halloween, and he tried not to think about it too hard in case he overthought. “You look really good,” he added, still fiddling with his bow. If it let it go he wouldn’t know what to do with his hands. “I haven’t been to one to these before,” he added quickly, hoping she didn’t think he knew what he was doing just because he was a fourth year.

Padme smiled easily and grinned, ”Thanks,” she replied when he complimented her costume, she had put in a good amount of effort into it, so she was quite happy that at least one person appreciated it. Padme was a little surprised that he hadn’t been to this event before. She could see why perhaps, it was a bit intense perhaps. She hadn’t really gone to any of the school events in the school before Hogwarts. So she could understand it. ”Well, it’s an easy dance, lots of candy, lots of scares, but if you want, you can just do a bit of dancing,” She offered, pointing vaguely to some of the areas that she had mentioned in her little list. She wasn’t sure what he liked to do at events like this, if he even knew but she was more than willing to spend the time with him however he decided to spend it. ”We could check out the spooky tent or get some tasty snacks,” the hufflepuff said with a little smile. She hoped that he would want to, as much as she wouldn’t mind just sitting with him in this spot, the event was more fun when you actually opted to have fun.

Padme seemed to list of a number of activities available to them and he was glad at least one of them seemed to know what they were doing. His eyes shot across the room when she mentioned dancing, and he tried to stifle a nervous giggle. She would have to drag him up there if she wanted him to do that, no way would he be able to do it by himself! His eyes widened when she mentioned there was a spooky tent, “A what?” He asked, wondering if being her knight would mean that he would have to accompany her through the scary bits of the feast too, although he didn’t know any tents were involved. “What’s in there?” He asked, wondering if she’d done that before too. If the decoration in the hall was anything to go by, it would be very well themed inside there too. He thought the second year was pretty brave to be able to go into something scary like that, but then again maybe that wasn’t what scared her. “We should have snacks after the scares,” he added. He was much too nervous to eat anything and he didn’t feel like having the life scared out of him while fill up on sweets and treats. “Do you want to have a look?” He asked politely, secretly pleading she would say no.
