The 6th year Gryffindor was feeling pretty much on top of the world. Despite all his fears about this year, and how quickly it was flying in, he knew that at this point he couldn't be happier about any of it. Sure, the prefects meeting and that could've been better, but he was happy with the way things had worked out. It was going well, and he was happy with all of it. Now, like most years Tybalt did not have a date to the yuleball. He hadn't asked anyone this time around, though he had been thinking about just really calling it quits with the idea of B, and making himself single and actually being more open to the idea of a new relationship. He hadn't exactly been actively trying, and nor would be really try this time around either, but at the very least what he would do was not be as dismissive of the idea. Which was why, he had decided that the Yuleball was a good idea. It seemed like the right thing for him. So, he was glad that this day was finally here. He'd already packed his things to leave the next day, to the new home that his family had gotten. Something he was very excited by. And was just putting the finishing touches on getting ready.

Tybalt's hair was still a little shorter than it had been in previous years but it was better. he looked older with it. Less of a young boy really. It was with that in mind, that he'd picked a tux to wear rather than a suit. He had a black bow tie and everything. With that done, Ty got himself together and then left the dorm room. He was heading straight for the Great Hall, hoping that he might just be able to find something fun to do during his time at it, rather than sitting around doing nothing. He wasn't sure if he would go talk to anyone, but in his mind he decided that he might just go dance with any person who was also alone. Just go with someone who like him didn't have anyone to dance with. It was easier than trying to find himself a proper partner or anything like that. It would be fun to just forget about everything about the future or about the classes in the next term, or the NEWTs. He was just ready to have a little bit of fun. Which was why upon arriving at the Great Hall, he went straight to the drinks table to get himself a drink before having some fun.

rhiannon McGowan was still surprised that perseas was going to the ball with someone else and was curious to who it was. however she had vowed that she wouldn't let that small thing ruin her night, or next term like their ball dates had done last year. she had had a nice day reading her latest novel before heading to her dorm to get showered and ready. she was planning to wear a nice dress her mum had sent over for the event quite a short and simple little black and white one. putting it on she was a little surpprised at how well ti fit, her mum has a knack of sizings things. however as she looked at herself in the mirror she decided it was a little bit shorter than what she usually wore so despite it being the middle of summer she added a pair of tights before slipping on her shoes.
as she decended the stairs passing many people all dressed up in their finery she let her mind wander to the evening and what she was planning on doing. she was looking forward to attending the ball before going back home to tasmania the following day for the christmas break. She entered the hall and looked around wondering if she could see anyone she recognised. She couldn't initially other than a couple of students in her year she hardly ever spoke to and who were s far as she could tell a couple. Not feeling like eating just yet she was just about to make a move onto the dance floor when she did see a familiar face, or rather back near the drinks. maybe she could do with a drink. "Good evening Ty. Merry christmas" she said remembering the yule ball four years ago when they had first met. they had grown into quite good friends since then often bumping into each other in the club academia common room and both having similar interests like photography they got on well.

Tybalt had been pretty pleased with the way everything was in this yuleball. Everything, as always looked pretty amazing. it was easy to see why this event was so popular. From the fact you could ask someone to dance, to the outfits and the hall itself it wasn't difficult to guess why people liked to attend. And so many people did. With the drink in his hand Tybalt was beginning to feel at ease. His mind cast back to that Yuleball when he'd met B, mistaking her for her twin. How different things had been then. Now, here he was, single once more and perhaps more than ready to have a good time and just forget about how much of a tatters his love life really was. He was happy to spend his night dressed up nicely and having a good time. However, as karma would have it, that kind of thing wasn't really meant to be. Since, a voice spoke next to him, and glancing around he noticed it was Rhi. A smile graced his lips. he hadn't seen this girl in a while, and it was on nights like this very one that he often did meet her. Not that it was a bad thing in the slightest.

Tybalt knew Rhi relatively well from his club, and from having met at the yuleball during her first year and his 3rd. They were friends, Ty was sure that when he finally graduated that he would suggest Rhi to run club academia, if his choice was taken into account. It was strange how long ago that was that they'd met, his mind was remembering that yuleball where he'd met her. It didn't seem like it. It felt like it happened just the other week. It felt fresh on his mind, but he knew that it wasn't. It couldn't be, because Rhi looked much older than she had back then. He knew he looked much older than back then. he was achieving so much more and moving forward a lot better than he could've ever thought, "hey Rhi, Merry Christmas to you too" he told her with a smile. "how've you been?" he asked, since he hadn't really seen her much during this year, not due to anything other than not being around one another. "Enjoying fourth year?" he asked her, brightly, glancing at her and smiling brightly, she looked lovely. "You look great, do you have a date for this evening?" He asked her with a smile, wondering if he was just a small stop until someone else got there. Not that it would really bother Ty, since he liked Rhi a lot, but knew that she might just have better plans than him for this evening of Christmas dancing.

Rhiannon smiled at Ty when he wished her a merry christmas. She liked him he was a good mate. "thank you" she said picking up a goblet of soft drink and glancing around the room just generally casting an eye out. "I have been well thank you. How about you?" she said realising that she didnt see Ty as much as she had done last year. making up with perseas had meant she spent last time hiding in club academia and more time in the library, as well as Tybalts increased perfect duties and quidditch duties. "fourth year is going well. how are you finding sixth year? is it really as hard as people claim" she asked .she had heard stories of how had the NEWT years were. and she wasn't looking forward to it, especially as she was intending on completing muggle school in those years as well and it was already quite a lot to balance. she blushed slightly when he complimented her dress. "thank you, my mum sent it over. you are looking incredibly handsome yourself mr archer" she said smiling. it was looking like it would be a good night. at least that was until he asked if she had a date. she didnt but maybe he did. then it wouldn't be as good. "no, i am here on my own. Are you waiting for someone, Bituin?" he asked remembering the ravenclaw girl he had been dating. she took a sip of her drink and glanced around the hall again half expecting to see the girl walking over, but instead she only saw a pretty first year in a mermaid green and silver dress heading over to get a drink. "have you got much planned for your break?" she asked wanting to held her own end of the conversation and not just sound like a parrot returning each of his questions slightly reworded.

Tybalt had always enjoyed the time that he spent with Rhi, it was always easy, and she was the only person whom he really saw that often. She was a good person, and he liked how dedicated she was to things. He nodded at her thanks, and just followed her gaze out to the various people dancing. "That's good, and I've been good" he told her, smiling happily, he'd been more than good that was certain. Since he'd really been busy with everything, everything had been going well. He was still doing well in the yearbook, and his quidditch team had won, the exams and all that had gone well too. He was very thankful about it really. He was incredibly thankful about it. Rhi spoke again, and he looked at her. Fourth year was a while ago now, and he remembered finding it a little tricky. Just tricky in the way where he'd always managed to just barely study and get by, things got more difficult in that year, and it was then that Ty had pulled up his socks and began focusing. He shrugged a little, he didn't see it as altogether more difficult. It was a little more tricky sure, but that was because he was a NEWT student and not just a third year. "It's tricky, not really hard. It's like all the other years you study enough you get by, I do get a lot more homework." he laughed slightly, since it was the only thing different. Maybe in the next semester things would get trickier, but he was finding things find right now. The spells and all that hadn't been more trickier really. It was maybe just that he'd reached that point in his life where it was simpler. Where things were easier and his studying was what kept him going.

Smiling happily, he obviously wouldn't have seen her blush, but he smiled happily at what she said, as well as then smiling at the compliment that she paid him. He had put in a lot of effort today, but for him it was simpler. He didn't have to find the perfect dress or anything, a suit was a suit. It was easy. "Thank you Miss McGowan," he returned with a smile and small glance at the clothes that he was wearing. Tybalt asked her if she was waiting on any one, to which the response was no, and she returned the question to him, asking about B. Tybalt's smile faded at the mention of her. Perhaps it was time to actually start saying that he was single again. Not that anyone had really known about him and B. It was only Rhi, and now sort of Preston, who didn't know who it was, just that Tybalt had been seeing someone and that it was over. "Erm, no. We broke up, kind of. I am partnerless and single." he told her while keeping his eyes on the floor. He didn't mind being single, mostly since he had so much else going on for him. She then continued on to ask him another question about his holidays, and Tybalt decided that if she had no one, and he had no one, it meant that they could just have fun together, "Rhi, will you do me the honour of this dance?" he stood in front of her and extended a hand to her, hoping that she would say yes so that they could just head out on to the dance floor and just start enjoying themselves rather than standing around doing nothing. "And I swear since we last dance, I've improved a lot."

rhiannon smiled when Ty said that he had been good. "that is good" she said. taking a few more sips of her drink. as she was reassured that it wasn't going to get much harder, at the sound of more homework she gowned. "more homework. I guess i will soon have to decide which school to keep up with" she said in the past year she was getting more muggle homework already and her joining more clubs this year meant she was already felling rather stretched. but maybe she would just bet better with balancing time as time progressed.
When Tybalt said that he and Bituin had broken up she lowered her head. she hadn't been sure f they had ever officially be a couple but she knew something had happened between them the night she had met them and she thought she was one of the few who knew, at least outside RHI (odd seeing as she was Rhi) "are you okay?" she asked. not sure how recent the break up (if that was the best way to describe it) had been. or how he had taken it. she hoped he was okay. he was a good guy she liked him. he was like her big brother in the castle taking Ewan's place when he wasn't there. though though that wasn't saying she saw Ty exclusively as a brother figure she did quite like him too. as the music changed Tybalt offered his hand to her and asked for the dance. a sort of Daja vu moment. she nodded. "Of course" she said taking his hand with her free one, before swallowing the last mouthful of drink and putting the glass down. "I didn't think there was any problems with your dancing last time" she said as they made their way onto the dance floor and started to dance as she realised she recognised the song, it was one the girls often played in the Heta omega lounge. as they danced she remembered something "oh, well done with the quidditch" she said.. "lucky fluke your seeker caught the snitch mind you" she she teasing slightly, after all the team he captained had thrashed her house team so she was allowed a little tease, or maybe it was just her best friend perseas rubbing off on her.

There was nothing in Ty's mind that said that he didn't think that Rhi would be completely capable of handling all of the extra work that the upper years had, she'd been juggling both muggle work and school work, and while he was sure both would get more difficult, he was sure that she would be able to handle it perfectly. He gave her a warm smile, knowing that she would make the right decision when the time came. "You'll figure it out, I'm sure!" he told her brightly, believing whole heartedly that she was more than capable. He was a little surprised by her reaction to news of him and B, he hadn't really ever talked about it with her. He'd never stated anything about it, or really even against it. It had been a non subject really, but hearing Rhi ask about how he was, was strange. "I'm fine, it had been a long time coming" He explained in a manner of speaking, it was true, in a way, though not that much. It was just a fact that he was now alone, and that it had been a long time coming that he was actually calling it quits. If she turned up before him and said something it would likely take a lot for Tybalt to agree to get back together with her. "What about you, and that Gryffindor boy?" he asked remember what RHI had written, that he'd also been mentioned in. He wasn't desperate to know, but he was curious.

Happy that she had decided to dance with him, he lead her out on to the dance floor. "Are you sure? I don't remember my dancing being at all good" he joked with her, smiling brightly as he stood facing her and began dancing with her. It was easy to find the rhythm of the music and dancing along with it and with Rhi, he liked this. This was good, it was uncompleted and easy. There was no hiding, or meeting when no one else was around. Sure it wasn't the same and while he liked Rhi a lot, he didn't think that they would ever be a thing. He was sure that their relationship resembled one of a good friendship, even though there were times when he thought it might be actually quite nice to kiss her. That was a thought that he discarded from his head as Rhi spoke again, he shook his head and smiled at her, "Thank you, it was a good victory." he trusted his seeker, "And James, the Gryffindor seeker is an amazingly talented player and clearly much better than the one from Hufflepuff" he wasn't even sure he knew who that was. But, their team had won, so that made them better. Though clearly he meant nothing by it, and was playing along with her, though, Tybalt did actually think that the Gryffindor seeker was incredibly talented.

Rhiannon was glad that Tybalt had faith in her. i gave her a little more faith in herself. otherwise she would have to decide which school she would rather finish, and right now it would likely be hogwarts causing her to miss the job she had been aiming for since she was about four.
when Ty aid that it had been a long time coming and that he was okay. she nodded, it sounds like he was in a better place now somehow. when he asked about her gryffindor friend she looked down slightly. "Perseas? he is just a friend I think. he is coming to the ball with someone else" she said a little unsure. she would like them to be more than friends but it just wasn't the case. he must have his eye on the other girl. serves her right really for coming to the ball with his brother the previous year.
as they started dancing and he said he didn't remember being a great cancer she shrugged. "so long as you don't stand on my toes you are good" she said starting to dance, moving fairly well to the moving to the music. It was fun and as the first song ended another upbeat song and she kept dancing. as he said that the gryffndor team was a good one especially their seeker. "your team did well. but our seeker is good so be careful who you are talking to" she said shouting slightly over the music her jaw slightly set at the end showing slight mock annoyance before smiling and taking his hands as they continued dancing enjoying herself.
