Sawyer stopped fighting her mother for the final time when she finally agreed. The eight year old would have a play date, but it had to be indoors. Her mother often scolded her and told her that she didn't want the kids messing up the house. So that day she decided to gate them off in a way. Mothers would have wine and talk about their children and lives, while the children played in the next room with the slew of things she had - from barbies to little tot potion kits. The brunette dressed casually, jeans and a t-shirt, and waited patiently as her mother stood talking to the girls mother before introducing them. This was going to be a long day, Sawyer was sure.

Anastasie was not very happy that her mother had persuaded her to meet a girl that lived on the other side of the world. She didn't understand the purpose and gave her mother a dirty look before reluctantly taking a handful of floo powder from the small box and stepping into the fireplace. She waved to Aaron and her step-brother and let go of the powder, saying the mysterious address and feeling herself being transported to a completely different country. It didn't seem much different when she arrived and it made her wonder how exactly the floo powder worked. How did it transport her to a completely different country so quickly? Shrugging, Ana stepped out of the unfamiliar fireplace and quickly dusted herself off, turning around to see her mother right behind her doing the same thing. She hated travelling by floo powder and hoped that these new people didn't mind a bit of dust, despite how desperately she was trying to get it off herself.

With eyes narrowed, Ana watched as her mother began talking to the girl's mother and then started to introduce their children to each other as if they were showing their prized-possessions. It wasn't until Ana's mother gave her a patronizing look with the raised eyebrows that Ana quickly greeted the girl who she now knew as Sawyer. "Bonjour Sawyer." she said to her with a thick French accent, trying her best to sound polite despite how desperately she didn't want to be there. The quicker this ended the better.

The sound of the fireplace coming to life alerted Sawyer, whom turned slowly praying it wasn't her play-date partner. But it was. The girl would be covered in floo powder, which had caused around twenty allergic reactions to those not accustomed to it in just the part month. Then there was the chimney smoke and cinders which would stain clothing and cause hives. Sawyer refused floo travel, preferring to apparate anywhere and everywhere - even since she was little. Floo powder made her sneeze. The dark haired girl didn't move from her spot, and just watched as they were introduced by the adults in the room.

Sawyer watched her. "bon...joor." She attempted, having been told that she was plat-dating with a french girl. She didn't know anything past hello though, and spoke in English next. "Would you like to wash up after that?" She spoke, referring to travelling through the floo network.

Anastasie smiled slightly at Sawyer when she greeted her back. It was only then that Ana remembered that she wasn't French and that they both spoke completely different languages. It kind of amused her to see Sawyer try and talk back to her with a New Zealand accent. She had never heard a New Zealand accent before and chuckled at her, knowing that she was going to have to get used to it eventually. Hopefully it wasn't going to be hard at all for the two girl's to communicate. Ana's mother knew more English than what Ana did but at least now she had more of an excuse to learn some more off of her.

Ana cocked her head when Sawyer followed up the greeting with English words that she didn't understand. She knew it was a question but was unable to answer it so she simply nodded slowly, unsure if that was the right answer. Perhaps she was asking how she was? "I'm good! How are you?" she replied in French, knowing that the girl wouldn't understand a single thing that she said. She looked sideways to her mother for support but they had already turned around to exit the room. Sighing, she tried her best to remember some words her mother had taught her to form a sentence. "No mush... Engleesh." she said with a frown, hoping that Sawyer would find something better for them to do than just standing there.

Sawyer sighed. Her mother was so adamant about not letting her play with people related directly to muggles, that she wasn't going to allow her to play with an English speaking one. Instead she had a girl who didn't speak much English. Sawyer thought for a moment and then waved her hand for the girl to follow her. The black haired young one walked a bit and then waved her hand again, leading her to the bathroom so that she could show her what she meant. Sawyer turned the sink on and grabbed some soap, first washing her hands. "Now you." She spoke when she was done. If this girl was going to talk to her, be her friend, or have anything to do with her, she was going to be free of the soot from the floo - which would make Sawyer sneeze so often she was convinced she was allergic.

Ana could easily see that Sawyer was getting frustrated with her and, truthfully, she couldn't blame her. The six year old was stupid enough to talk to Sawyer in French knowing perfectly well that she didn't know anything other than hello. She was quite relieved when Sawyer gestured for Ana to follow her and she did, hoping that they would go somewhere to play or to simply make friends. She was confused though when she walked into a bathroom and started washing her hands. It suddenly dawned on her that she was covered in floo powder and Ana jumped before quickly taking the soap from her and scrubbing her hands with it. "Pardon." she muttered as she continued to wash herself, quite embarrassed that her mother made her come to a stranger's house covered in floo powder. When she was done, she put the soap back where Sawyer took it from and smiled at her, ready to start her playdate and to get it over and done with, if Sawyer was willing to lead the way of course.

Sawyer smiled as the girl understood. "It's okay." She recognized Pardon, that was an apology in a lot of languages. After the girl had put the soap down Sawyer held out her hand to shake hands with Anastasie. "Uhm Happy to meet you?" She said, wondering if the brunette before her would even understand that much. Her mother was nuts, though Sawyer knew it was disrespectful to say so. Sawyer once more motioned for Ana to follow her and moved toward the play room. Sawyer was the only one who used it and that was evidenced by the way everything was in it's spot. Dolls organized by size, and the blacks in a box, organized by the letters on them. There were board games and a wizards chess set. There was also different toys to be played with outside, and a mini potions set for the beginning potioneer. "You want to play?"

Ana was thankful that Sawyer seemed to forgive her easily as she shook the girl's hand. "Je vous remercie." she said smiling, thanking the girl for her forgiveness. Next time her mother wanted her to travel by floo powder she would just have to find another way. It was much too embarrassing being covered in so much dirt and she promised herself that she wouldn't do it again. Anastasie followed Sawyer again out of the bathroom and into what she knew as the play room. Ana never really had much of a play room before so she stared at everything in it wide eyed as Sawyer said something that she knew was something along the lines of "What do you want to play?" or "Where should we start first?". It was almost like a children's paradise and Ana smiled, wanting to ask Sawyer never ending questions about where she found the time to sort everything or how long she had been making such a collection. But Ana didn't know how to say any of that in English and instead walked over to the dolls and picked one up, indicating that she wanted to play with them first.
