Like a king upon his throne, Liam Nightray leaned back in his chair and stared at the checkered board in front of him. Fingertips touching, pale brow furrowed and eyes narrowed in obvious annoyance, the Slytherin tried to block the noise that is starting to get louder as students began to file in and greet their own group of friends. He hated it. In fact, Liam hated a lot of things - weaklings, muggles, mudbloods, even halfbloods who associate themselves with such filths, his list could just go on forever, and right now, he is surrounded by everything that he hated. Seeing the smiles on the faces of most of the students around him, Liam cannot help but scowl. He had lost the ability to smile a long time ago. It was on the day that his parents had died. That day was only five years or so ago but it felt like an eternity. His childhood felt like a distant memory, fragile and short lived like a morning mist, only half real. He had grown up too fast, his childhood illusions shattered by the cruelty of the world around him. He had lost that childhood naivety that nothing could hurt him and that people are kind. And that is why he hated everyone. He need not associate himself with fickle minded individuals who knew nothing but assume that life is easy. Mudbloods who thought that they could learn and use magic the way that people like him can, he hated them the most. Their naivety makes him sick. And he can only wish that they would just be gone. Even halfbloods, they're just as bad as those muggle borns. And that is why even though he had been staying for two long years in Hogwarts, he's still by himself. He didn't care though. He needed no one, people are nothing but his pawns. He would just use them for his own gain. He need not forge friendship the same way that those pathetic individuals do. Friends would just bring him down. Why can't those students realize that already. They all look too happy hanging out with those people that they call their friends, didn't they know that those so-called friends of theirs would just betray them in the end? They won't be able to get on top if there are people who are clinging unto them. It would be better to be on his own.
Finally having enough of the noise and the scene around him, Liam slammed his hands on the table. Too hard that the chess pieces came rolling down the floor. "Won't you shut up!" He yelled, clenching his fist in anger to the point that his knuckles are turning white. He felt eyes on him, some wary and some annoyed. He sneered, standing up and kicking the chair before he decided to leave. He felt himself bumping into someone but he didn't bother to stop to apologize. Why would he anyway? A person of his status need not to lower himself down to do such a ridiculous thing.
