It was a mix of anger and boredom that had brought Archie to the Owlery on a sunny afternoon with a crumpled up letter in his hand. There was no denying that the Gryffindor curfew had gotten further and further on his nerves during the last few weeks, which he had shown by complaining non-stop to his friends who by now had heard enough of it. Ailsa and Jean, also in Gryffindor and affected by the curfew were annoyed in their own right, and Orwell wanted to fight back and lift the curfew from being in place. While Archie agreed with Orwell, and saw no reason to punish an entire house for the actions of a few, he also believed that fighting back would only make an already bad situation worse. Sure, Archie missed cuddle time as much as Orwell did, and he hated spending his evenings bored out of his mind in the common room. But he wasn't about to give up the small amount of freedom he still had by choosing to fight back instead of waiting it out.
Archie knew he had exhausted his resources, that complaining to the friends he had in Hogwarts had become more counter productive than productive. So he was forced to find solace elsewhere, and had scribbled down a quick letter to his friend Quinn on a whim the previous night when Ailsa was talking to Logan and he had nothing better to do. They had only met once during the summer holidays and had barely spoken since. But Archie did think the other boy was interesting, and wanted to keep in contact with him even if it involved ranting about his unfortunate situation with parchment and ink. Archie sighed as he stepped foot into the Owlery, remembering how long it had been since he had sent or received an Owl that wasn't from his sisters. Though he quickly pressed the thought into the back of his mind so he could focus on the task at hand. He quickly folded his messily written letter into an envelope addressed simply to 'Quinn' and gave it to the nearest Owl, asking the bird to deliver it safely and handing it a small treat before he watched it fly away into the distance.

Quinn said:Hey bro!
Do you wanna year something crazy?
A lot of stuff has gone down in my school lately. Brock held this protest outside the forbidden forest, right? Then this sixth year got caught with a box of fireworks on the great lawn. There's also been a group of first years that won't stop pulling pranks and getting in trouble.
So guess what my head of house did? She put this new curfew on all of us! We have to go back to the common room straight after dinner, and we're not allowed to go anywhere for the rest of the night!
I hate it. Everyone hates it. It's just so boring to sit in the common room all night. I want to go out and have fun, you know?
Anyway, how have you been? How is school going for you? I almost forgot to ask 'cause I'm so annoyed about this curfew. It's just really, really dumb. I wish it was over already!
Make sure you reply to me asap! I need something to do when I'm stuck in the common room.
Archie.
