Ferdinand had just spent his morning playing a game of soccer with Zeiva, and today Angela had decided to tag along much to Zeiva's dismay, and complained for the duration of the game. He usually didn't mind her complaining so much, but today was different because all he wanted to do was play outside, and as much as he hated to admit it, Angela felt like even more of a buzz kill today than ever. The eleven year old didn't understand why Angela bothered to tag along when he and Zeiva played soccer when all she would do was sit there complaining the entire time. But the game was over now, and Ferdinand bid adieu to his friends, turning in the direction of his house to begin his short walk home. The game had finished in a modest tie, which meant neither Zeiva or himself could hold their victory against one another until they had a rematch to finally decide who was the better soccer player. Ferdinand lived in the opposite direction of Zeiva and Angela, so he unfortunately never had the chance to walk home with them. But his parents didn't know that, so to stall returning home, Ferdinand took a detour away from his usual route, and ended up on the main street of town.

Since it was a week day, the streets were practically deserted, meaning Ferdinand could walk into one of the candy stores without fear of being seen. This thought sparked a mischievous grin to cross the boy's features. Ever since he had received his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts New Zealand, he had this newfound energy which wouldn't waver even after playing soccer all morning. The excitement of going to Wizarding School was too much for the dark haired boy to handle. What made this excitement worse was knowing Zeiva and Angela would both be starting Wizarding School in the next year too, he couldn't imagine what learning magic would be like without his two friends by his side. He knew splurging on candy wouldn't help this hyper activity but he didn't care, it was candy. The ringing of a small bell above the door marked Ferdinand's entrance to the store, he quickly ran over to the furthest shelf from the door to examine what candies it had to offer. He had heard a lot about sweets in the wizarding world, but sadly hadn't had the chance to try anything yet. He had to make due with dull Muggle candy for the time being.

He didn't know what house he would get into during the sorting ceremony, and he didn't really mind as long as he was put with one of his friends, but even then it wouldn't be a big deal. Ferdinand was going to school to learn magic, not worry about what house he was going to dwell in for the next seven years. On this note, the boy picked up a packet of gummy bears, his favourite treat. He still had a few dollars left to spend, and he intended to spend it all. But on what? He was spoilt for choice. He could choose pop rocks, they were always fun. But he could have also chosen red vines, or even an oversized lollypop that would take the rest of the day to finish. He took a step backwards to analyse his set options over for a few minutes.

It was never good for a young boy to walk alone, but Bryce Oliver was different. While he did not have the same freedoms as some of the other children, Bryce could never hear if someone was calling for help, or coming up from behind him. That was why he had brought his trusty dog, Bear, with him. Bear walked in front on a leash, with the head looking high and the proud to be walking in front. Ali, on the other hand, was not walking at all, but she was in the arm of Bryce. Ali was a multicolored Chihuahua with long hair, and Bear was a Schipperke. It was a real shame that he could not bring his dogs into Hogwarts New Zealand. Bryce did not know if any of the children that would reside in the same dorm would ever wake him up in the morning. Ali was the one that woke him up when it was time to get up but he did not have that luxury anymore. For now, Bryce was going to spend as much time with them as possible. His eyes stared forward as he continued to walk, and he felt the need for something. Ah, he knew what he wanted, candy. Bryce had a major sweet tooth, despite his parents' warnings that they will rot his teeth, he would simply pretend that he was not getting the message, and get himself some candy anyway. Bryce looked around at the buildings that were near, and he was not worried about walking into someone. It was a weekday, and not many people were out and about. That was such a relief too, because people always stopped him to tell him how lovely his dogs were. He had seen it said a thousand times, and he did not need to know his dogs looked great. They always did because they were his and he took very good care of them.

Finally, his eyes feasted upon a candy store. His messenger bag thumped against his leg, and Bear gave him an odd look when he stopped. Bryce read on the sign that there weren't any animals allowed, which meant that he had to tie up both Ali and Bear to a post outside of the store. Both had licenses on them, so they would not run away or taken to the pound. Bryce quickly did that, and he held up his hand for them to sit, and stay. Both dogs obeyed, and Bryce smiled at his trusty friends. Bryce took out his note pad and pen as he opened the door to the store, entering quietly. He had a list of things that he wanted to try. Candy was just good for him, but he had not tried it all. He would love to do that. So he went toward the chocolate section first. He tapped his pen against his lips, as he struggled to decide. Bryce took a large chocolate bar with almonds and he put it on top of his note pad. What he needed was a basket or something to carry the things that he wanted to buy. He had some money in his pocket, since he normally packed too much at a time. Who knew if he needed something? Bryce wondered over to the other side of the store, where his eyes saw a boy about his age looking over the selection of candy as well. Bryce didn't want to bump into him, so it was a good thing that he had noticed the boy. Bryce reached forward for a package of poprocks. He always enjoyed the blue kind. Bryce simply gave the boy a smile, as he set the package where the chocolate bar was. Bryce was sort of looking for a golf ball sized jawbreaker, but he was shocked when he saw bigger ones than that. Of course, they had his favorite color too. Blue. 'Oh that is heaven,' thought Bryce in his mind. Putting his pen away, he reached forward and took it, and it was large enough to cover his palm. That wouldn't last a day, that would last a bloody week.
