One could mention that Colton Kovac was one of the most secretive boys that one has ever met when it came to showing and revealing his true feelings about his one love, Gabrielle Desideria Snow. Colton had thought about proposing many times, but he let on that no one knew this, and that he brushed it off as something else when he was caught looking through jewelry stores to see what ring would look the best on Gabrielle's finger. But one had to remember, as he told himself many times, "She has to love me first before I would take it that far." He was still convinced that she did not love him like he did - yet that was just the same as she was feeling, that he did not love her like she did. One could be amazed by how sweet they were, actually. Colton was currently at home, and he was looking at the door that held the unfinished room of their first daughter that passed so long ago. It was still pained him so much, and each miscarriage just made him feel even worse. That and the stress of not telling her how he felt was even worse on his muscular body. His appearance seemed to change subtly as well. The skin right under his eyes seemed a little darker, and his brown eyes seemed to hide his emotions even more now, making him seem more like a blank canvas than anything, scared that he would show how he felt about her to her and then end up destroying everything that they had that he truly did not ever want to lose in his life. She was too important to him for him to lose, and he did not think that he could be able to live through it. Colton let out a sigh and he cracked the door open to the nursery that he had once thought about finishing. Just looking in there hurt him so much, the thought of having a baby girl right now running around through the house would have been fantastic. She could have been a miniature Gabrielle, or a girl that looked more like Colton with brown hair and brown eyes. But he did not care. All he wanted was the child to have his last name, that was all he could ask for. But in the end, none of them survived. Was it a curse? Did a higher being love to see him writhe on the ground in pain like a bug under a magnifying glass? His breathes became a little more shallow, as he shut the door and was glad that he was home alone for the time being. It gave him time to think about things, and he wondered if he should have himself checked out. Maybe that was why none of the children ever seemed to live. What if there was something wrong with him? Colton would have to tell her that it was not her, it was him.

Those were the absolutely worst words in the history of dating. Colton locked the door, and he leaned against the wooden panel, before he closed his eyes and just slid down to the floor. He was just tired, exhausted. Dealing with emotional things were just hard on him. Having to suffer through his girlfriend's constant miscarriages, the false hope of having children with her was always depressing and then there was the fact that his work dealt with pregnancy ongoing, and it was like a slap to the face every time. He did not know how something could affect him so much. During school, Colton did not allow anything to affect him, and then even afterward, nothing could phase him though he was literally working himself to death. And then the heavens sent down an angel of light, and she helped him out through the dark times, and she was the love of his life. The moment that she helped him, unknowingly also causing him to experience emotions that he had never felt before. Love, happiness, curiosity, everything. And then there was loss. The loss of a father-to-be. It was hard to describe that feeling to someone that had no idea how that felt. Gabrielle, he knew, must feel a lot worse. She had the feeling to actually feel the fetus in her body, the close bond that was formed while the child was still in the womb. It was something that no man would or could ever feel. Colton nibbled on the inside of his lip, and he wondered what Gabrielle would think when she came in to see him on the floor, sitting and leaning his head back against the door that was once going to be a nursery. Colton thought vaguely of his family, and how Adrian and Yvo were doing. And then there was Ariah, and the want to confront Asparuh still. How could he not do that, despite Gabrielle's pleas not to do so? He was Ariah's older brother, and then there was the thoughts of his other siblings that had no connection to Ariah. Isabella, Ostensia, Isaia, Sergios and Acia Romanes. He wondered how they were doing. He needed to spend some time with them too. Colton listened has he heard the front door open, and he did not move a muscle. The house was neat, and clean. Nothing was going on, but silence from everywhere in the house. It was eerie, almost. Colton knew that Gabrielle was home, and she was going to be looking for him - well, that is what he figured at least. Colton wondered if he should let her know where he was, but he smiled lightly, and knew that once you walked through the living room, and look down the hall, right there he would be, sitting down on the hardwood floor with his leg pull up to his chest and the other one outstretched across the floor. It was almost as if he had fallen or something, but he was just sitting there, leaning against the floor and trying to gather his thoughts.

In a puff of grey smoke, Gabrielle Snow arrived at the home and she and Colton had been sharing together for the past six or seven months. Her eyes showed strong signs of both despair and annoyance within them. The looks in her eyes were caused by none other than her very own mother. The one person in the world that was supposed to be always proud of her and supportive of whatever she decided to do in her life. But her mother was anything but happy for her when it came to the important decisions she had made recently in her life. The biggest thing her mother was unhappy with was Colton. The first thing that came from the women's mouth even was how she had heard that there was a boy now involved in Gabrielle's life. Then she proceeded to pick apart what she knew about him and morally point out that she was nothing but an idiot for letting a boy with little nobility in his name waltz right in to her life. How Gabrielle should have checked to make sure if he was really a pure blood and he came from decent families that had darker heritage to them. Basically Danielle was almost thinking of Colton as unworthy of her daughter and it hurt to hear every single word come from her mouth like a dagger laced in poison. That was her love that her mother was taking down. That was the man she was head over heels for and she hurt to hear the one who gave her life didn't approve of him, and she had yet to even meet him in person. Gabrielle knew that if she had her mother would be impressed because he was perfect for the family, absolutely perfect. When Gabrielle tried to defend Colton it wasn't long before her mother was able to detect exactly what was up. That she was in love with him. That was when the real trouble began too. Danielle then began to harshly tell Gabrielle how irresponsible she was being by acting like a foolish love-struck teenager or something. The blonde just took it silently. It was too late for her mother's words. She had fallen too hard and it would take force more than any human could provide to change it. Arguing with Danielle didn't work either because she just ended up pointing out more and more reasons why she was being stupid about this. Then the sword through the heart was when Danielle decided to ask whether he loved her or not. If he didn't then she was probably wasting her time. After that Gabrielle left in a flurry of emotions and ended up here. Her breathing came out heavily and she stared at the house for a moment before she grumbled and kicked a small rock away from her. Her mother was right. She was completely f*cking right! If she loved him but he didn't love her back she was only going to get broken and would end up taking him down with her. 'I can't make him love me....' A part of her wished she could. But it would be cruel and wrong. If he didn't feel that way for her she didn't want to be around wishing for nothing. Gabrielle did not want to end up like her mother, and Colton seemed like the type that could hold a grudge if she ever ruined anything for him. A breeze blew swiftly through the air and Gabrielle ran a finger through her tied back hair. She felt like she was going to vomit right now but she wanted to get inside and cuddle up with Colton, he always made her feel better. But tonight, somewhere she needed to ask him what he felt.

Gabrielle breathed out again and opened the front door. Closing it behind her, Gabrielle took off her warm boots and headed further into the home. It was a bit chilly both inside and out so she was thankful that she had a sweater. The living room was quiet as could be. That told her that Colton wasn't in here and was probably in the bedroom. The petite blonde advanced further and paused when saw Colton sitting in the hallway. He was sitting down on the hardwood floor with his leg pull up to his chest and the other one outstretched across the floor. "Colton?" Gabrielle asked worriedly as she approached him and sank down her knee's so she was next to him. Her heart swelled and ached at the same time. Every time she saw him her heart soared but now she was worried that his heart would never soar the same way. Her fingers brushed against his forehead as she pushed away some of his dark brown hair that had fallen into his face a little. He was sitting up against a door that she had never be inside, it must be a guest room or something. Her face vaguely showed that she was bothered by something but she tried not to let it be too obvious. "Why are you on the floor? Have you been here all day?" Gabrielle asked as she cocked her head to the side. Already she felt weak and strained from trying to think of ways to ask him. They had come to far. What if he didn't love her because the children he made kept dying? Gabrielle knew she should have told him that her body wasn't built for having children. But she was afraid to now. Her eyes remained looking at the door and she wondered what really was inside. But she didn't question him at all and let her eyes return to his form. She also remained on her knee's for a moment longer before she stood up and brushed her jeans off. Her hand elegantly extended so that she could help Colton get back up to his feet, she wanted a hug from him and she knew that he knew very well that had yet to hug one another. And that was unacceptable. Gabrielle just wanted to be held. Whether or not he loved her, he always knew when she needed him. His hugs could always fix everything.

The Healer felt like he was well out of his mind right now, sinking slowly into insanity because he could not tell a girl how he felt about her. How could one think that it would be easy to say how they felt about one? Colton let out a soft sigh, and he stared up at the ceiling yet with his eyes closed. His lids were blocking everything, but if only the lids were good at blocking his emotions from showing up on his expressions, though in his eyes he could hide, but nothing else he could not. Colton was proud though, at least he had the girl of his dreams in his life right now, and that was all that mattered to the young healer. But there was still something troubling him. Isabella and her family were being awfully silent, especially when he tried to contact his mother. Instead, he received no word which was completely different than what he was used to. Why did they not ever answer their mail? Colton thought for a moment, and he wondered when his love would arrive, but he did not know when she would be here. He thought that he heard some noises, but he did not know when it would be. Colton thought more and more, but he did not know how he would be able to tell her. He wanted to tell her, today, but he did not know how she would take it, and how she would react over it. Also, did not know how to word it right. Three simple words, and that was all. And yet, here he was, and did not know how he would be able to do it. The former Slytherin was at his wit's end. All the reading and studying he had done, it never told him an easier way to figure this out. Books were only as reliable if you had something for them other than emotional research. Colton was as helpless as one comes. Colton could hear Gabrielle coming and of course his stomach was plagued with the butterflies and the warm feeling of him about to throw up but it was a happier feeling than an ickier feeling. He could hear her kneel down next to him after asking his name to get his attention. The only response that he had was his eyes opening, and them falling on the beauty that filled his thoughts constantly. He wondered if she knew that he always thought about her, and he always wondered if he was on her thoughts all the time as well. He kind of hoped that he was, so that he would not be alone. Colton did not know how he could handle this, how can he fix the thing where he would be able to not keep falling wherever this would lead him. Could he ultimately ask Gabrielle to marry him before she would believe in love so that he could actually ask her. Well, he could not do it right now anyway because he did not have the most important thing for a proposal, a ring.

A diamond ring that would look fabulously upon her hand. His brown eyes opened and he glanced over at her sparkling blue eyes. Her beauty was enough to make him lose his breath, and he smiled hopelessly at her, with her question of him being on the floor and if he had been here all day. Unfortunately, his answered were both yes. He did stay here all day, and that was all. Colton nodded slowly, and he murmured, "Yes, been here all day, and well, I guess I wanted to be closer to this room." Colton hoped that she would not try to see what was in the room because right now, they were in a big enough slump as it was. They were devastated with the despair of never having a child together, and he wanted to have one as well. Colton wanted to never have the issue of having a child without wondering if the child would make it through the first few trimesters. Colton thought for a moment on a conversation so that he could distract her from the whole room because it was too soon to let her see into it, what he had worked of for their first baby. Colton let out a soft sigh and he murmured, "Belle, how was your day? How are you feeling?" Colton did not really want to know if she was feeling bad, because what if she was pregnant again? He did not want her to be pregnant again and then they would have to suffer through yet another loss of another child. Colton did not want Gabrielle to suffer through that again. What if it really tore her apart, enough to cause serious mental distress? He wanted that to never happen to Gabrielle, and did not want her to go through all this once more. He did not know how he could handle it again, and more so, did not know how she would be able to take it.

Gabrielle was able to catch Colton's attention and she smiled graciously at him, her blue eyes sparkling with happiness that he was alright. He answered that he had been here all day but only because he guessed that he wanted to be closer to the room he was sitting in front of. The blonde grew curious and raised an eyebrow as her eyes moved form her boyfriend to the door. Strangely enough she hadn't been in that room before so she never saw what was inside. Was whatever was inside that closed off room really important to him? It could be something he didn't want her to see but she was to curious about it now to just leave and pretend like she didn't care about it. "What's in here anyway-" Gabrielle questioned as her arm reached out to grasp the chilled doorknob and hold it within her hand for a moment. Not even waiting for him to say anything she turned the knob sharply and opened the door to the mysterious room so she could step over Colton carefully and into the room to peek for herself. But the very inside of the room made her stomach drop like she had just gone down the largest drop of a roller coaster. It was an unfinished nursery. Gabrielle could tell that this had been built, or at least started while she was pregnant the first time with a little girl that didn't make it. Colton hadn't told her about this room though and she could literally feel her heart starting to break over the fact that she was never going to become a mom at this rate. A hand absently rested upon her stomach and she breathed out sickly. The room was so perfect too, Gabrielle could easily see that he had been excited and proud about that baby without even realizing the demise of it. Gabrielle went to back up and get out of the room as quickly as she could but Colton had stood up by that point and her back just ended up colliding with his chest. It surprised Gabrielle for a moment but she turned around and her eyes drifted up with to meet his brown ones. "Colton...this may not mean much now but..this room is so perfect. The baby would have absolutely loved it." Gabrielle told him honestly as she hugged him tightly, her smooth fingers running down his back as she released the hug and let her hand rise up to run her fingers through his hair for a moment and rest of his cheek. If someone else had walked into the house right now they would have probably seen this two giving each other the most romantic and longing look. But all Gabrielle could see in his eyes was fear and worry. She wanted to wrap her arms around him again and embrace him tightly. To cry into him and let him soak up all her worries and fix her life. But there was too much of a Burden for her. Another sickening feeling took over her and Gabrielle rested her head against Colton's chest for a moment to breath out tiredly. Her body was nervous about the news she had to ask him, the question she needed to seek to him about. The seconds ticked by and Gabrielle removed herself from him and stated that she needed to talk to him about something important.

Gabrielle led him from the unfinished nursery and closed the door behind him. Then she led him into the bedroom they shared and released his hand to let her own fall to her side. There was no easy way for her to word what she was going to say but she intended fully to just ask him what she wanted to ask him. "I went to visit my mom today. We talked about a lot of things but somehow we ended up talking about you. She brought up some things that really made me start to think." Gabrielle started off, her eyes drifted to the ground and turning a bit cold at the memory of her and her mother's conversation. "I care about you so much but..." She paused again and bit her lip. Why was this so hard to just come out with and ask him? Oh that's right, because she was afraid he wouldn't say yes. If he didn't say the words yes he did, she would be heartbroken. He could easily say no. He seemed like he was the type to fear love and the whole baby scenario made it harder too. What if he only wanted a woman that could actually have children and help him become a father and spread his generation. Or what if he wanted someone like Kalina? A dark pain in the ass. He probably didn't but her mind was running irrationally with fear. Gabrielle mentally smacked herself and willed herself just say it. No backing out and no changing her mind, she was just going to say it and that was it. "I want you to be completely honest with me, no more hiding this from one another. I've heard person after person tell this and I don't know if I can stand not knowing anymore. Colton, are you in love with me?" Finally it came out. A weight was lifted off her shoulders for a moment before it felt like another one was quickly put right back onto it. Now was the moment she had to wait for. Her stomach felt like it was on fire and she was going to throw up. Did he feel her for her the same way she felt for him? Or was her feelings a lost cause like her mother had said.

Colton really did not want Gabrielle to see this, to be reminded of the pains of losing baby after baby. He did not know how she would be able to handle it. Would she really be able to look into the room without bursting into tears? Colton was ten moved from the door by Gabrielle and he did not even fight back because he did not know really. But then she asked to see what was in there, and then she opened the door. He reached out to stop her with a soft, broken voice, "Gabrielle, please, don't..." He did not want her to see what was in there. It might tear her apart, like it did him when he passed it every day when he walked through the hall. The room was revealed and he felt like he was dumped over the head with a bucket of ice cold water. He did not want her to see it because it was just showing them what they could have had, and they could never have it, yet. He wanted a baby so much, but he could not risk having Gabrielle's mental and physical health diminish because of what he wanted. He did not want to risk her at all, and he could not live without Gabrielle in his life. He had discovered that when he had to spend all day without her here. Colton never wanted her to experience the pain of loss once more. Another child, and it would not last. Colton was looking into the unfinished room, and he lowered his brown eyes to stop himself from feeling or showing anything. He did not want to really see her expression when she stared into the room. Gabrielle managed to collide into him, and he stared down at the blue eyes that filled his chest and his heart of warmth and the feeling of deep affection and love. He was just a little burdened that this would have happened to them. What did they do to deserve such sadness? What did they do to deserve other than just fall in love? Well, it was one sided to Colton's belief. "She would have..." Colton murmured, and he hugged her back in return because she needed the support anyhow. They both did, this was their child that would have slept in the room, but was in the grave.

The Healer was led from the unfinished nursery and heard the door close behind them. She led him into the bedroom and he felt her hand release his own. Colton listened to her tell him that she went to visit her mother today, which made him worry just a little bit. What did they talk about? Did she tell him that she had been knocked up many times and lost the baby every time? Colton heard that they were talking about him, and then she brought up something, but what? And then he felt something, something else. He did not know what her mother said, and then said that she cared about him a lot, but... But was not the word that he wanted to hear. Colton wondered if she did not care enough for him enough? What if she wanted to end it with him? He did not want their relationship to end but he would do whatever Gabrielle wanted, even if it meant ending his own happiness with her. He was scared of losing her, and he did not know if she understood that. She said it herself that she did not believe in love, and that it did not exist. How could Colton tell her everything when she asked for it, when he himself was afraid that the answer he gave her would tear everything apart? She just straight out asked for it, and Colton was staring at her, and did not know what to tell her. He simply...stared. If he said yes, then she might flip out at him because she might not want a boy loving her. And if he said no and lied, he could be risking if she did love him and whatnot. He could not just take it back either, whichever answer. Colton blinked and he could not even answer. His throat felt like someone just gripped it tight and held it firm. Nothing, his voice was gone and he could not say anything. He could not answer her question. He was frozen in fear. Colton bowed his head and he said nothing, no shake of his head or even a nod. He just could not answer that question. He did not have the strength. He could offer her nothing, and he could offer no answer for the question that she sought. The reason why, he was too scared, he could not answer the question due to fear.

Gabrielle waited, and waited, and waited For Colton to say something. For him to say anything to would confirm that her mother was wrong about love and she wasn't being a fool. That her feelings for Colton weren't stupid and childish. But he didn't say a single work to her. Not a single gesture either to calm her growing nerves either. It made Gabrielle's blood boil because she started to feel embarrassed and heart broken. Could he honestly admit that he was feeling nothing for her? After all the nights they spend together cuddling, kissing, and just being together like they were so in love that there was no one else in the world around when they were together. Was there really a possibility that he didn't love her like she was in love with him. That the ice Queen everyone couldn't crack into had her heart melted just to have it all thrown in her face again like it had years ago. "Come on Colton, say something! Please." Gabrielle pleaded with him and he reached up so her hands rested on his cheeks and forced him to look her in the eyes. His chocolate brown eyes didn't hold any indication either and were filled with lifeless nothing, it scared her more than anything too. Couldn't he see the desperation and hurt within her own eyes. Or were the tears building up in her eyes blocking the emotions behind them? She wasn't sure what was making him act like this. But she knew that something was wrong because he hadn't said it yet. He hadn't said that he loved her and he looked like he was frightened more than he was anything else. She continued to search and search and search. He still said nothing! "Please?!" Her tone was just desperate now. Hoping that maybe if she begged him or yelled that he would respond and wouldn't remain as quiet as he was. By this time Gabrielle was extremely upset and it was evident that she was crying, she had to wipe at her eyes every couple of minute's. Then Colton bowed his head and Gabrielle knew his answer. Her heart sunk down to her knee's and she felt really dizzy for a moment. No. The answer was no he wasn't in love with her. Her feelings were complete and utter joke and her mother was right. She wore her heart out on her sleeve and Colton felt nothing even close to what she felt in return for her. Gabrielle told herself over and over again not to fall in love. Because it would only destroy her in the end and here she was, heartbroken and crying. Gabrielle looked up at Colton, her tear filled ones connecting with his. "Were just wasting our time being with one another aren't we?" Gabrielle wiped her eyes once again and let her eyes fall back down to the floor. Her heart was torn and even though she once wanted to see herself married to Colton and having pretty babies with him, but now she knew that she had to end it. Because she loved him too much and she was only going to end up smothering him. Shaking her head she broke herself away from Colton and started to walk, angrily the bedroom.

Gabrielle could not stay here. Being in love with him would make her stupid and do stupid things. Pretty much she had already demanded that he told her he was in love with her and he denied her. Pretty soon she'd get the stupid idea that they should get married and have little twin babies. God she was so stupid! Once inside the bedroom she gathered one of her smaller bags and stuck in things like her work uniform, some of her clothing, some jewelry, and anything important that she needed. But she did leave behind things like her blankets, the rest of her clothes, pictures of her and Colton, and accidentally because he was buried underneath her pillow, her stuffed owl Klaus. On the way out of the room her hand drifted up and she felt the necklace around her neck. It was the one Colton had bought her for their anniversary. With a sniffled she undid it at the back and greeted Colton back in the living room where she walked over and forced his hand open to place the necklace right in the palm of his hand. Then she softly closed his fingers over it and wiped her eyes again. "I won't make you do this anymore. We're finished." Gabrielle gave him one last longing stare, as if to tell him 'if you really loved me you would stop me form doing this.' But he did nothing and she picked up her bag and headed over to the door. Gabrielle opened the door and without even another look she slammed the door behind her. And once Gabrielle was outside and didn't have to worry about looking strong at all she broke. Letting a sob escaped her lips and and stomped angrily. She was in love with him and he just let her leave, he didn't even fight to keep her there. Since Gabrielle had nowhere to stay and let her brother have her house, Gabrielle knew she would probably have to go in search of a homeless shelter until she worked herself up enough cash to buy a house or rent an apartment. 'I feel sick.' Was the last thing Gabrielle thought in her mind before she Apparated away from the home of her true love and the place she had grown accustomed to living in for the past few years or so.

Colton was frozen where he was, where he stood. In his bedroom, he just could not say the words that he had never said to anyone. He had never been or said those words to anyone, and never let anyone know about it either. How could he let someone know? Colton wished that he could say something, his heart screamed it out, but his voice was clenched by the strong hand of fear. Fear of the feelings that would not be returned. But there was another thing too, was she pressuring him so much to say something because she felt something for him? The sound of desperation in her voice made him think, no hope, that she did love him. But that voice of doubt that sounded so much like Kalina's voice actually told him that he would never be loved, and she would not believe in anything so foolish. But what if she did? His brown eyes closed because he could not stand the pressure that he was in right now, and he did not think that it was really right for him to be in that type of pressure but did not think that she would really care about it though. She seemed to hate that he was quiet, but he could not help it. He was silent because fear had sunk in and had a firm grip on him. And then came the words that he had dreading to hear as soon as his chocolate eyes met with her own watery blue eyes. Wasting their time together? How could she think that? She made this healer the happiest boy in the world, and now, she was ending it, and he could do nothing about it. His voice was still unable to be found, even when he wanted to find it and try to talk some sense into her. Colton was in shock, like his mother that he had lived with for many years had died. She was breaking up with him, and he was standing there doing nothing. If one could call him the Prince of Coldness, one would right now because he was just letting her go, letting her pack everything up and leave him. Colton wanted to have children with her, perhaps even marry her one day but now all that seemed nothing more but a dream.

Washed away in a tide of grief, and here he thought that she did not share the same feelings for him, and still thought that way. Maybe she thought that he did love her and that was why she was leaving him because she would never feel the same way about him. She would never love him and maybe she care enough for him so that she would not end up breaking his heart but it was too late. He felt like there was something in him that was cracking, but he did not know what it was. Gabrielle put the necklace that she had given him in his hand and made him clinch it, but he could not bear to look into her eyes because he knew what was coming, and those final two words were enough. Colton finally glanced up at her but she was gone, and the door had slammed shut. Colton realized that he had made the most stupid mistake of his life, and he had finally felt the fear leave him. He hoped, no prayed, that she had to apparated away yet. He had the necklace in his hand, and opened his front door. She was gone. Colton felt something, but it was not little, it was a strong feeling. And it was painful. It hit him right in the middle of his chest. Colton leaned against the doorway because it hit him so hard, he thought that he was fall or lose his balance. Colton had never felt anything like this, but it was hard. Colton sank to the ground and he held the necklace in his hand. He pressed the fist to his head and he felt the warmth gather in his eyes. Tears silently fell and he could not handle it anymore. He had lost the one that he loved and it was all his fault. He could not take it, Gabrielle had left. She had left him for good and he could do nothing else right now. He just sat there with the door opened and stared outside, closed his eyes and just let the tears come because there was no way to stop them. He was single again, and he hated it. He used to love it. He wanted Gabrielle back, and hours later, Colton could actually move. He got up and went to Gabrielle's room. He could see how she left things behind. There were a lot of things here still. Colton made sure that everything looked good, and set the necklace on the made up bed. He turned and he shut the door. He sealed it shut, and he needed to get her back. He had to get her back. Colton just had no idea where to start. He had to find out though, and get her back, because he was nothing without his Belle.
