I didn't eat for three days so I could be lovely

Cassie hummed a gleeful tune as she skipped along the cobbled streets of Bristol. She was on her way to the park to see her boyfriend Domnech. As she skipped she stopped to stare at a beautiful tree in full blossom. "Oh wow! Lovely" she exclaimed, her eyes widening, entranced by the color which looked as though it had been threaded through the delicate branches of the blossom tree. The skinny girl then twirled around, sending her skirt up with the wind and skipped off, her bare feet padding along the cobbled path. Upon arrival at the park, Cassie's grin widened ans she hopped over to a nearby bench. Pouncing on it like a car she pointed her toe and began to twirl and dance along the bench, her eyes fixed on the clear blue sky. Cassie hadn't a care in the world and the thought of what people might think of her had never once crossed her mind.

Cassie turned her head and searched for the source of her name which she had heard called from not far away. She grinned as her wide brown eyes spotted her friend. "Lucas!" she exclaimed as the boy approached her and lifted her down from atop the bench, seemingly unphased by her crazy actions. Cassie smiled and took a seat next to Lucas. Her mind wandered as she tried to think of something interesting to say. "I saw a fish thismorning and he told me to eat the mushrooms!" she said grinning at her own story. "Then he winked at me" she added, with a puzzled expression she produced a handful of small white mushrooms from her pocket. "They make me want to dance!" she exclaimed, jumping onto the bench and twirling once more.

Lucas wandered along to the park like he usually did in the holidays. He was glad to be away from Durmstrang. The fact of the matter was he despised it. But today was a new day and school was behind him, at least until next year. He walked along rather briskly, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a cigarette to his lips. He was away from all of the drama, and maybe he would even meet a friend along the way. Effy was safe back at the flat and with the help of his cigarette he would forget all about the things that were going on between his parents. As he reached the park Lucas dropped the cigarette butt to the ground and stood on it as he kept walking. "Cassie?" he said to himself as he spotted someone rather familiar. "Cassiopoeia Ariadna Oliver!" he called out, knowing that only Cassie would be seen dancing and twirling on a park bench in broad daylight.

Scooping the slender girl up and placing her on the ground next to him he smiled. "What have you been up to?" he asked, lightly punching her in the arm, a gesture they always greeted eachother with. He listened to his friends crazy story but was once again unphased. That was just who Cassie was, he was used to it. "That sounds like quite a day you had" Lucas said, chuckling to himself as he took the mushrooms from her before she leapt back into her dancing. He examined the mushrooms and new instantly why Cassie had such a crazy day. Magic mushrooms. He thought to himself before popping one in his mouth and chewing on it. Hey, everyone needed a little hand to get them smiling didn't they? "Cass, get down from there" he said, chuckling again.

Domnech walked slowly with his hands in his jean pockets, he decided against the short cut and went the long way to the park. He hadn't seen his girlfriend for a few days and was interested as to what exciting new things had happened to her. That was what he liked so much about her, she made life so interesting and fun. He grinned and sped up slightly not wanting to be late. He felt bad for leaving his sister at home, she was having one of her bad days but he deserved a little alone time once and a while, and he was sure his mother could cope for a few hours.

Turning into the park her chuckled as he saw what only could be Cassie twirling around on the bench. Hearing someone calling Cassie's name he saw Lucas and Domnech's smile drooped slightly, he wasn't the jeleous type usually but there had always been something about him that worried Dom. Plastering a smile back on his face he made his way over to the both of them. Laughing he momentairly ignored Lucas and jumped up on the bench and placed his hands on Cassie's shoulders stopping her twirling. "Hey you!" he grinned kissing her on the cheek. "Having fun?" he asked and helped her down. "Hey Lucas." he added his tone had a slightly icy edge to it. And he drapped his arm around Cassie's shoulder "Hows it?" he asked pretending that he wasn't slightly annoyed at his appearance. Grinning inspite of his self he awaited and answer.

Cassie ignored Lucas as she twirled but came to a halt as somebody held her shoulders in place. Cassie smiled, rather shocked by Domnech's public display of affection. Things hadn't exactly changed since the pair had announced they were dating, they had grown a little closer, but Cassie stayed as naiive as ever, and didn't fully understand her role as girlfriend. She reluctantly hopped down from the bench with the aid from Dom and took a seat on the bench. Lucas, Cassie and Domnech were like the three musketeers, they had always been close, but even Cassie's small mind sensed that once they had begun growing up they had drifted apart. Cassie shook her head at her own thoughts and turned to Dom's question. "It was like wow, lovely" she said smiling.

She turned to the two boys and spoke. "I didn't eat for three days so I could be lovely" she said, smiling. She was always this blunt, and the two boys had grown used to it. Cassie had begun to eat less and less now. As she wanted to look like the girls she saw in the magazines. Her parents didn't know about it, she had perfected pretending to eat down to an art form. "Wow!" she suddenly said, becoming distracted by a duck waddling past towards the front. Cassie jumped out of her seat and skipped along behind the duck, a grin across her face. She certainly knew how to keep Dom on his toes.

Domnech laughed when Cassie spoke "Sounds awesome!" he agreed and gave her a small nudge. Grinning he glanced at Lucas who hadn't yet spoken and inwardly shrugged, if he didn't want to speak to him it was his choice. Relaxing next to Cassie he gently pulled a wisp of hair away from her face. Listening to her he rolled his eyes. He knew about Cassie's want to be like the girls that she saw in the magazines and he didn't really mind as long as she didn't take it too far. But he deep down he did worry about her and not eating. He thought she was beautiful enough with out starving her self. Pushing the thought to the back of his mind he contented himself with laughing aloud and saying "Wow! 3 days! I couldn't last 3 minutes."

Chuckling softly he watched as Cassie lept up and skipped after a duck. Blowing his image out the window he leapt up with her and began to skip after her. He didn't care how stupid he looked. He caught up with her and linked arms. Glancing over his shoulder he called out to Lucas "Are you coming?"

Lucas seemed to sit back and let Domnech take Cassie away and off into the distance. To be honest, Lucas felt a little hurt. Dom had come along later on, after he and Cassie were already the best of friends and now he had her. It was like a stab through his heart as he watched him kiss Cass. Lucas really did love her, perhaps in a more platonic way than anything else, but Lucas wasn't used to sharing. He was always the one who made the girls share him. Not the other way around. Nevertheless he followed reluctantly as Dom called his name, shakign away Cassie's comments about not eating. He knew how she did it, he had seen it for himself and he was ashamed to say he had been tricked by it more than once.

"Yeah wait up" he said, running towards the pair. He turned to Cassie and cornered her off slightly, flashing a smile her way. "You're ok, right Cass?" he asked, she was crazy, and he loved that it was so hard to keep up with her but she worried him sometimes. After caring for his sister he felt responsible for peoples actions and he just wanted to know Cass was ok. He kissed her lightly on the cheek, in a completely platonic way, but it could easily be percieved as otherwise. He turned and wathed her take off again, hoping what he said had sunk in.

Domnech rolled his eyes as he watched Lucas run after them, he knew that he would follow and he wasn't really surprised that he cut Cass off. Dom knew that Lucas had feelings for Cass that much was obvious but he didn't of course know how deep. He could understand why, Cass was the most fun girl in the world but it annoyed him that he acted that Dom was stealing Cass away. He wasn't, of course, he just had always been protective of Cass.

Dom scowled and looked away as Lucas kissed Cassie's cheek, he didn't want to get angry at Lucas because of the way he kissed Cass acting like it meant more than it did. He too watched as Cass ran off again and he turned to Lucas, "You didn't answer my questions before," he laughed choosing to ignore the tension between them. He didn't want to pick a fight between one of his good friends just because he irratated him. Looking away as he waited fot him to speak he watched Cassie once more.

Cassie laughed at Lucas' question, her eyes flickered and she looked right into his. He probably thought he was going to get a straight answer, but that wasn't the way Cassie worked. "I like boats. They go places" she said, before skipping along the edge of the duck pond. The absent minded girl twirled and hopped along the soft grass before jumping up onto the bench once more. "Lalalalala" she chimed as she pointed her toe and flicked her wrist. Just as she turned to Lucas and Domnech she tripped and fell straight back onto the soft ground. Her eyes rolled back in her head as she looked up and saw stars floating in front of her eyes.

Any other girl would have picked herself up immediately and saved herself from the embarrassment to come. But not Cassie, she lay there, grinning like the cheshire cat, underwear on full display. It seemed as though something was going down between Dom and Lucas, but Cass stayed put.

Lucas should have known he would never get a straight answer out of Cass. She was just too stuck up in space to realise what was going down on earth. He was used to it though and he loved Cassie the way she was, just sometimes it got a little tedious when you wanted to know something she knew but wouldn't tell. Lucas could still remember when he first met Cassie, she was even more crazy than she was now, but she still had the brightest smile and the widest eyes. He could hear the moment get a little heated between himself and Domnech, but luckily his friend chose to take the easy way out, they both knew who would win in a fight.

"Oh I'm fine" Lucas replied, going along with the small talk approach. "And you?" he said returning the question. As he waited for Dom's answer he heard a light thump and turned his head to see Cassie lying in the grass, skirt right up displaying her knickers to the world. "Cass!" he said running up to her and scooping her up from the ground. "What were you doing down there?" he said, sitting her down on the bench and dusting the grass from her hair. Not long after Dom came running towards the pair. Lucas had to admit it. Dom was much better for Cassie. She didn't deserve to have a guy like Lucas in her life.
