There was a soft scratching on the window sill and even in the early morning light Kat knew it was Lavender sitting there ready for a morning treat with the latest copy of the Daily Prophet. Stretching and sighing the brunette got out of bed and stroked her snowy owl gently as she handed her the tiny little treat. "Thank you m'dear. I'll take this in the kitchen with my morning tea," Kat said with a yawn. Tucking the paper under her arm she headed to the kitchen where she brewed herself a nice pot of dark amber liquid. The twenty one year old ignored the paper she'd placed face up on the table until she had a nice steaming cup of tea with honey and milk in her hands. She breathed in the sweet aroma deeply and opened her eyes.

There was a crash of glass breaking on the table and warm liquid spreading out on the table. Her breath caught quickly in her throat as she leaned forward, her hands steadying her now shaky body on the table. The young woman barely noticed the stinging pain in her hand as a broken shard of glass cut deep into her flesh. A face...an all too familiar face that she held very near and dear to her heart graced the front page of the wizarding newspaper. Her heart sank to the pit of her stomach as she picked it up and read the headline that spanned the page in large letters. 'ROGUE WEREWOLF KILLED WHILE TRYING TO ESCAPE PROSECUTION.' It wasn't real. It couldn't be real. It just wasn't possible. Kat grabbed the paper in her hands, blood streaming down her arm and onto her shirt. Her legs felt like jelly and would surely give out from under her at any given moment. Andy was dead. It was at that realization that Kat's legs gave out and she crumpled in a heap on the floor. All this time of not knowing where her best friend was or what was happening and now that she knew she didn't like the answer.

Heavy sobs heaved forward from her chest and her fingers ran over the face in the picture. Andy was gone now, leaving everyone that cared about her behind to mourn her absence.
