Kami loved being a mother. She did. But it could also be very, very exhausting. Sure, Ava was living in the apartment above the bookstore with Vader and the twins. Emily was living with her friend Daintree and working a lot of hours at the bookstore. Kami was training her whenever she was free, knowing that Emily wanted to inherit the bookstore. Arthur was about to graduate school, and was going to go stay with Killian to work as a crew hand on his ship. Kyon and Avery were ten, and were going to go to school next year. And Calliope- their sweet little girl, she was almost a year old now.
Kami had to admit that Evelyn was a lifesaver. Her sister-in-law had come by early that morning and had kidnapped all three of her remaining children, giving Kami some much needed peace and quiet. After a very nice, long bubble bath, Kami had padded down to the kitchen in her favorite pair of pajamas, her hair piled on top of her head and held in with some well placed bobby pins and ribbons.
She was halfway through making lunch, dancing around to a pop station on the radio. She was making a nice seafood pasta, with crab, shrimp, scallops, something her children would never eat. Of course, if Ian was lucky, she might just save him a plate. She sang along softly, stirring the sauce and swaying her hips.
