Emery usually didn't dress up for Halloween, but this year was his final year so he figured he might as well. Being a zombie wasn't very hard, just paint yourself a little gray and wear your oldest clothes and you were done. He had done just that and was now wandering around the feast. He saw the Hippogriff pinata and paused, glancing up at it. Maybe something good was in it that he could share with Raawhiti later. Or something he could just keep for himself, he wasn't too bothered. He put on the blindfold and grabbed the bat, startign to try to hit the pinata. Unfortunately, he missed. He decided to try again, but he was still missing the thing. He wondered how far off he was.

Ethan liked Halloween and he would miss having a chance to dress up and celebrate once he graduated. He had put on his old trusty costume and made his way down to the great hall. He had said he would meet Marnie there but he hadn't found her yet. He grabbed some snacks and lifted the bottom half of his mask to eat some as he walked around. Eventually he spotted Emery swinging at a Hippogriff pinata. Personally Ethan didn't love seeing someone swing a bat at an animal even if it was fake but he knew it wasn't that serious. He stood off to the side and watched as his roommate swung again and again until one swing got a little close. "Woah there." he called out as he took a step back. "No prize if you break me open." he mumbled.

Emery stopped attempting to hit the thing when he heard a voice, lowering the bat and pushing his blindfold up to look at Ethan. "I don't know... are you sure?" He asked, holding the bat up slightly in an attempt to joke, albeit a little threateningly. He then let it drop again. "I wasn't even close, was I." He sighed, glancing over at the pinata again.

Ethan raised an eyebrow as Emery raised the bat, and then made a show of squishing his arms and poking his torso as if to prove his point. "Pretty sure." he said, very sure. He felt a sense of relief as his roommate finally dropped the bat. He hadn't been warm moments before but he felt a little sweaty now. He shook his head sympathetically. "Got turned around a bit." he said with a shrug. "You could try again. I could tell you if you get hot or cold." he offered.

Emery snorted when Ethan poked himself like he wasn't sure if candy was going to come out. He raised his eyebrows a little at his suggestion. "Are you sure? Don't you want a try?" He asked, offering him the bat.

Ethan shrugged. "Happy to help." he said. "And not really but if you're giving up I guess I could give it ago." he added. He had only been to a few birthday parties when he was younger where they had pinatas and he didn't remember if he had actually landed a it. His hands were full with his plate of treats so he held it out to Emery to hold before he grabbed the bat.

Emery snorted when Ethan suggested he was giving up. "Just giving you a fair try. I'll go again when you fail." He told him with a grin. He wasn't sure when he and Ethan had stopped hating each other, and if they really truly had. Friends seemed too strong a word, bu also not entirely inaccurate. He took the plate from Ethan, immediately eating one of his treats as he took the bat from him.
