Sooo, I have permission from Cyndi to post here for Phaedra's lesson 2. No, it's not permanent, just a test run and no, it's not an interactive lesson. If it is a success I'll petition it to the admins and let's see where it goes.

P.S: As suggested on the TD, 1st year Gryffindors and Slytherins only. Not many had come to lesson 1 so I picked the garden for lesson 2

Thank you

Second week of second semester had come so fast and the Herbology Professor can't believe she will be surviving this difficulty of teaching underage wizards and witches. And with that, she decided to be positive today and threat her first years into a new environment other than the greenhouse. Phaedra had asked permission to had a little trip to the Hogwarts Garden for a new learning experience, they will not just learn but help grow beautiful flowers for the garden as well. Early morning before the students had even gone down for breakfast, Phaedra went to work with the groundskeeper for a few flower beds and they were what the Professor expected. Perfect.

She also wheeled a wheelbarrow filled with gardening tools that she will be teaching and using to the area near the newly build flower beds. Satisfied with everything there, Phaedra went back to her quarters and change into more comfortable outfit, ate breakfast at the Great Hall and went back at the garden where she waited until the clock tower rang. The Professor had posted a note in front of the greenhouse one stating to met her here and as if nobody read the note, she thought this was flunk but one by one her students started to creep in. "I hope everyone isn't weird out at the fact what are we doing here outside ... at the Hogwarts garden." She said awkwardly.

Once her students were complete, Phaedra cleared her throat and started. "Last lesson I asked you all to write where would you like to do a lesson besides the greenhouse and I have picked from my top hat a winner. As you could see, the Hogwarts garden is the winner." The Professor announced with a smile. Phaedra then proceed toward the wheelbarrow and grabbed work aprons, "I prefer work apron than work robe as it is in the middle of summer. No one really wants to get sweaty while working outside. Grab one and if you want to take off your school robe, it is fine with me." She distributed the work aprons she had just grabbed while she waited for her students to get theirs on, Phaedra flicked her fingers once and gardening tools started to float in front of her in a single file.

"Alright, everyone. Eyes and ears on me because I won't repeat it and everything on this lesson will be on your exams." Cautiously reminding them, she walked in front of a big fork. "The fork or pitchfork is used for digging, mainly for big patches of land. It also loosens clumped up heavy clay soil and good for turning your compose heap. You don't want to use your hands when doing so ..." She trailed off and pointed to the next, a little shovel with the same usage. "Next is a trowel, it looks like a little shovel but it is, though, a trowel has different kinds to choose from. Trowels are used for digging as well, when buying as such, you have to remember what kind do you need as it vary from the blade width." The Herbology Professor continued on as she did hand gesture with the lecture.

"Spade, though, they look like shovels again; Spades has a rectangular head and again there are 2 types of Spades. Digging and bordering. Here, the secateurs or pruner are more like scissors but can cut branches. Pruning is important in Herbology, the more a plant is healthy, the more it gives out it's magical benefits." As Phaedra finishes explaining the tools one by one, the tools retrieve back to the wheelbarrow before they're used again for later. "Moving on to the rakes, now, everyone has to know what a rake is." Some nod. "Rakes are used to level out soil or prepare a patch of land for planting. As we have a lot of time, some of you are going to rake the newly build flower beds." Phaedra smiled but move on. "Next, the cultivator and draw hoe. These two are really much same with the rake, the only difference are the head and lengths. The cultivator has 3 tines and is short in length while the draw hoe is long in length and has a blade."

Finally finished with everything except their main goal for today, Professor Kazuyuki clapped her hands once and said, "Now that we're done with the tools, the guys will rake the flower beds while the girls will pick some annuals from the disposable planters. Be careful because they're not fully mature and needs care while handling. Choose from Persian Buttercup, Salvia, and yellow sweet broom. It doesn't matter where you put it, you can also plant with your friends, I have some label stakes here and you can write down your names. Please, enjoy yourselves. Refreshment are available by the big willow tree." After giving instruction, the boys started raking the soil that was put in the flower beds while the girls started picking their plants. Phaedra assisted some and kept a sharp eyes on the others. As far as this out of the classroom lesson, the young Professor is still waiting for rule breaking students.

No Homework
But planting and raking is a must to get 5 extra points. (Roleplay doesn't have to be long)
Enjoy!

As much as Lilyanna tried to turn things around and tell herself that Hogwarts would be a pretty good place for an education, she couldn't really believe herself and it was slowly giving her headaches at night thinking about it. She knew though that there would be no way that she would even be able to think of getting an education elsewhere after she came back from the holidays. Her parents had told her that it would be too hard to separate her and her sister and somehow Lilyanna believed them. She really didn't want to break anyone's hearts by moving away just for her own benefit so she was stuck at Hogwarts until she graduated, much to her disliking. She tried to think positively about the situation but it was just reminding her how hard this all was so she tried to brush it all off as she walked towards the Herbology Greenhouse to get on with the lesson. She stopped as soon as she realised the note on the door and sighed before turning around and walking to the Hogwarts Gardens, hoping that she wasn't going to be late.

When she finally found the Hogwarts Gardens, she was glad to find that she wasn't late at all and smiled at the professor as she waited for the rest of the class to join them so they could begin. It wasn't until the professor told them that they were here because she chose the place from the suggestions last lesson that she realised that the Hogwarts Garden was her choice and they were here because of her. She held her head high and listened carefully to what the professor was saying. She knew that she was going to have to plant all on her own as she didn't have any friends in that class and tried to shrug it off as she set off to pick some plants. She decided she would choose the Salvia and planted it in a small corner of the garden after the guys had raked it all, isolating herself from the others. She took a step back and smirked at her work before leaving the Hogwarts Gardens at the end of the lesson. It sure was a lot of hard work but she rather enjoyed it.

The second week and they are doing their class at the Gardens which was okay for Tahi as long as the class is not compromised. She got her apron and listen as Ms. Phaedra blabbed about Pitchforks, trowels, spades, rakes and hoes and it's uses. After she explained the tools she started giving instructions for the Main Goal today, which is to plant and rake. Since Tahimikka don't really have friends, she just worked on her own planting her Persian Buttercups. She was satisfied with her work of course since she did the whole row all by herself. She threw some dirty looks at some students since they didn't really planted, all they did was 'exercise their mouths'. She just shrugged it off then wrote her name on some label stakes and hurried towards the refreshments. The refreshments was the only thing, maybe, that made the class decent.

Zared was feeling pretty pleased with himself, more than he'd spent the time doing what he wanted which included watching the duelling tournament, he hadn't thought he'd like it, mostly because he hated crowds and hated people, but he felt like it was better to watch others fight and he was very happy to at long last know there was something good for him to do and he'd been convincing Lestat that he should sign up with him in the following year. When they could at long last sign up. However, this was just one thing that he had to think about when he had much more to think about given that he had classes to think about. The first week of classes had passed without too much happening and he was glad when the second week rolled around. Zared gathered up his things as he got ready for the day of classes he was having to face and was feeling pretty good about it, mostly because classes were for the most part silent things that he could just spend time in, standing in silence.

Zared was surprised when the Herbology class was taken to the gardens and he was having to stand amongst the rest of his class as he looked to the professor and listened to what she had to say. He took one of the aprons and although he had a look of disgust on his face, he just put it on, and looked up to the professor as she began explaining the different tools that they had to become accustomed to, and he just listened along, wondering why on earth he would need to know any of this, he didn't think herbology would ever be the kind of class that he actually wanted to take, yet he was, and he just listened to what she was saying, and the reason they were in the gardens rather than the classroom began painfully clear when they were going to have to do something, and Zared reluctantly took one of the rakes and began to rake the flower beds like they'd been shown. He didn't enjoy it and grumbled about it the entire time, not even caring about how well he did it, and sighing happily when the lesson was finally over and he didn't have to do it any more.
