- Sooo, I have permission from Cyndi to post here for Phaedra's lesson 2. No, it's not permanent, just a test run and no, it's not an interactive lesson. If it is a success I'll petition it to the admins and let's see where it goes.
P.S: As suggested on the TD, 1st year Gryffindors and Slytherins only. Not many had come to lesson 1 so I picked the garden for lesson 2
Thank you
Second week of second semester had come so fast and the Herbology Professor can't believe she will be surviving this difficulty of teaching underage wizards and witches. And with that, she decided to be positive today and threat her first years into a new environment other than the greenhouse. Phaedra had asked permission to had a little trip to the Hogwarts Garden for a new learning experience, they will not just learn but help grow beautiful flowers for the garden as well. Early morning before the students had even gone down for breakfast, Phaedra went to work with the groundskeeper for a few flower beds and they were what the Professor expected. Perfect.
She also wheeled a wheelbarrow filled with gardening tools that she will be teaching and using to the area near the newly build flower beds. Satisfied with everything there, Phaedra went back to her quarters and change into more comfortable outfit, ate breakfast at the Great Hall and went back at the garden where she waited until the clock tower rang. The Professor had posted a note in front of the greenhouse one stating to met her here and as if nobody read the note, she thought this was flunk but one by one her students started to creep in. "I hope everyone isn't weird out at the fact what are we doing here outside ... at the Hogwarts garden." She said awkwardly.
Once her students were complete, Phaedra cleared her throat and started. "Last lesson I asked you all to write where would you like to do a lesson besides the greenhouse and I have picked from my top hat a winner. As you could see, the Hogwarts garden is the winner." The Professor announced with a smile. Phaedra then proceed toward the wheelbarrow and grabbed work aprons, "I prefer work apron than work robe as it is in the middle of summer. No one really wants to get sweaty while working outside. Grab one and if you want to take off your school robe, it is fine with me." She distributed the work aprons she had just grabbed while she waited for her students to get theirs on, Phaedra flicked her fingers once and gardening tools started to float in front of her in a single file.
"Alright, everyone. Eyes and ears on me because I won't repeat it and everything on this lesson will be on your exams." Cautiously reminding them, she walked in front of a big fork. "The fork or pitchfork is used for digging, mainly for big patches of land. It also loosens clumped up heavy clay soil and good for turning your compose heap. You don't want to use your hands when doing so ..." She trailed off and pointed to the next, a little shovel with the same usage. "Next is a trowel, it looks like a little shovel but it is, though, a trowel has different kinds to choose from. Trowels are used for digging as well, when buying as such, you have to remember what kind do you need as it vary from the blade width." The Herbology Professor continued on as she did hand gesture with the lecture.
"Spade, though, they look like shovels again; Spades has a rectangular head and again there are 2 types of Spades. Digging and bordering. Here, the secateurs or pruner are more like scissors but can cut branches. Pruning is important in Herbology, the more a plant is healthy, the more it gives out it's magical benefits." As Phaedra finishes explaining the tools one by one, the tools retrieve back to the wheelbarrow before they're used again for later. "Moving on to the rakes, now, everyone has to know what a rake is." Some nod. "Rakes are used to level out soil or prepare a patch of land for planting. As we have a lot of time, some of you are going to rake the newly build flower beds." Phaedra smiled but move on. "Next, the cultivator and draw hoe. These two are really much same with the rake, the only difference are the head and lengths. The cultivator has 3 tines and is short in length while the draw hoe is long in length and has a blade."
Finally finished with everything except their main goal for today, Professor Kazuyuki clapped her hands once and said, "Now that we're done with the tools, the guys will rake the flower beds while the girls will pick some annuals from the disposable planters. Be careful because they're not fully mature and needs care while handling. Choose from Persian Buttercup, Salvia, and yellow sweet broom. It doesn't matter where you put it, you can also plant with your friends, I have some label stakes here and you can write down your names. Please, enjoy yourselves. Refreshment are available by the big willow tree." After giving instruction, the boys started raking the soil that was put in the flower beds while the girls started picking their plants. Phaedra assisted some and kept a sharp eyes on the others. As far as this out of the classroom lesson, the young Professor is still waiting for rule breaking students.

No Homework
But planting and raking is a must to get 5 extra points. (Roleplay doesn't have to be long)
Enjoy!
