Patricia made her way outside, still in her Hufflepuff Uniform as she had just left the Ancient Runes classroom in search of someone to give a reading too. She didn’t know if she should just go and approach someone she knew or semi knew or didn’t know at all. Truth be told she was kind of nervous about giving someone a reading. She figured that doing one to someone she knew would be better so they could probably excuse her if the reading wasn’t all that great. Walking about the gardens she looked around to see if she could see anyone she knew was out and about today.

Aiden had finished one of classes early for the day and had decided to go outside for some fresh air. There was a reason he didn’t go to classes often, he felt like he was suffocating as he was confined in the four walls. Enjoying the cool breeze as he walked around the gardens, an area that he didn’t visit too often but he figured would allow him to have the most quiet time as he didn’t figure many would be around there. He had so much on his mind right now that he found himself trying to get some quiet time more and more lately. Hearing a set of footfalls near him he looked up hoping the person wouldn’t bug him. Noticing a friendly face of someone he hadn’t talked to in some he figured it might not be too bad to actually talk to this person, talking to someone might help him. “Hey Pat. How are you? It’s been ages since I’ve talked to you.” he said to his old friend, trying to put on a slightly happier face than he actually felt.

Patricia was beginning to wonder if she should just give anyone a reading as Professor Weasley didn’t exactly specify who it had to be, it just had to be someone out of their norm. Hearing someone speak to her Patricia looked up to see Aiden. The two had been somewhat decent friends back in their first year and of course after that whole thing in the dungeons things went a bit pear shaped but things seemed to work themselves out, thankfully, although Aiden had transferred to Durmstrang so quickly that they didn’t have a lot of time to work on the friendship. “Hi Aiden. I’m good, how are you? Yeah it’s been forever, I saw you got back last year but we just never talked. What are you doing out here today?” she asked out of general curiosity.

Aiden smiled somewhat at Pat, she had always been nice to him despite whatever happened in the past, he was glad that there was at least one person in the entire school that he could talk too and not be judged, then again Pat didn’t know what happened him in the holidays. “Yeah, alright.” he replied with a small shrug, he wasn’t really in the mood for going all out and lying to Pat or anyone for that matter. “Just relaxing after class, NEWTs are a b!tch.” he said, not completely lying on this matter. He really didn’t like the NEWTs at all and for only being into the second week of classes he knew that the rest of the year would be hell. “What are you doing out and about?” he asked her in return.

Patricia nodded in agreement, the NEWT year was already turning out to be so hard and with it only being the second week she didn’t know what the rest of the year was going to be like. Also, with all of her extra duties she barely found time for anything other than work now-a-days, although she was starting to get a sort of grip on the whole thing but it was still hard. “Oh, Professor Weasley told us to go find someone to do a reading on.” she told him in answer to his question. “Hey do you want me to do a reading on you? All you have to do is give me a question, any question at all, and I do a reading. Please please please please, it would help me out so much.” she said in a sweet voice and hoping he would help her out.

Aiden didn’t do Ancient Runes so it took him a few moments to try and figure out what Pat was asking him. He soon remembered that Professor Weasley, his own Head of House, was the Ancient Runes Professor and that class involved people using stones or runes or whatever to predict the future. He looked at Patricia with a funny look when she started to beg him to let her do a reading on him. He was a little sceptical about it but he figured that it must be important to her and it would be interesting to see what the outcome was. “Alright, alright, I will. Just stop begging.” he said with a small laugh. Seeing Pat sit on the ground he followed suit, nodding his head at her thanks. As Patricia got herself ready he thought of a question to ask her. There were a number of questions that he could think off but he didn’t really feel like explaining anything to Patricia. “Okay then. Oh can it be quick, it’s just I have so meet someone?” he said having finally thought of a way to word his question. “Will things turn out for the better?” he asked, it was a lame question but he honestly couldn’t think of any other way put what he wanted to know.

Patricia laughed softly when Aiden told her to stop begging him, she couldn’t help but beam at him when he agreed to help her out though, she was excited to see if this was going to work out as well as the readings she had done on herself or her classmates had done. Sitting down on the grass just so she could perform the reading better she indicated for Aiden to follow suit as she got her bag of runes out of her bag. When Aiden asked if she could make it quick she nodded her head and said, “No worries, I can do a one rune draw, which is pretty much what it says on the tin. It’s quick, easy but pretty informative when it gets down the nitty gritty of it all.” she told him with a reassuring smile. When Aiden asked his question Patricia took a moment to think what it could mean, she didn’t know about Aiden having any troubles right now as he pretty much always seemed laid back but it wasn’t her place to question what he asked, she told him any question would do and that’s what he had given her. “Alrighty then, I just need you to pick out a rune then.” she said holding over her purse of runes, shaking it about a bit out of habit.

Aiden thanked Pat when she told him that she would do something called a one rune draw, he just nodded his head when she explained it to him, he didn’t know what it was about and chances were he’d never have to know again. When Pat handed over her bag Aiden but his hand into and finally picked out one of the small runes. He observed it for a moment as he looked at it before handing it back over to Patricia. “So what does that mean?” he asked.

Patricia took the rune that Aiden had picked out of the bag and set it down between them. “So this is Inguz.” she told him to start off with. “Inguz usually indicates growth and fertility, among other things,” she said, almost positive that Aiden didn’t have to think about fertility or growth, not at his age anyway. “But taking your question into consideration I think it’s indicating a new start in your life but you need to tie up some loose ends before this start can begin.” she said, reading further into the meaning of the stone. “Well how does that sound to you?” she asked hoping that she hadn’t done a completely horrible job.

Aiden listened to Pat as she explained the rune. Immediately he got a little freaked out when she mentioned growth and fertility, it had to represent his and Miriah’s child, there was nothing else to it but when Patricia continued Aiden wondered what else the stone had to tell him. As the Head Girl continued to talk the more Aiden began to realise that what she was saying was pretty much on the ball. How could on stone tell him so much and know so much about him? Then again it was magic so Aiden didn’t question it too much. “That sounds spot on.” he said with a half smile. “Well I got to go but thank you, I’m pretty sure you answered my question so you can go tell Weasley to pass you now.” he said with a light laugh as he got up. Turning he said ‘goodbye’ to Pat and made his way back into the castle, he wanted to think about this a bit more. Great more crap to think about! he said to himself, but hopefully this would clear things up a bit for him.

When Aiden said that her reading sounded spot on she grinned, she hadn’t done as bad as she thought she would have. “Thanks Aiden.” she said to him. He really didn’t know how much this was going to help her out but she hoped that she at least returned the favour by helping him out a bit with whatever was on his mind. “Sure thing Aiden, see ya. And thanks again.” she called after him as he left. Now that she had her homework assignment done she cleared away her runes and sat on the grass for a bit longer, the nice months were starting now so at least the weather was getting better.
Fin! ♥
