hello, is it me you're looking for?
'cause i wonder where you are
valkyrie sighed, looking at her daughter. she had never met such an
aggravating person, it was terribly embarrassing that she had been t
he one to bring her into the world. if it wasn't for her house elf, valkyr
ie likely would have killed vera already. it still irked valkyrie that the
girl's father was still living, but he had many connections in the gover
nment and she wished to stay out of azkaban. this was why valkyrie zi
mmerman put up with vera and her youthfulness and innocence that
she had deep seeded anger for and why she also spoke harshly to her da
ughter at the request to go into the toy store they passed, "get a job and
pay for it yourself, vera." a smirk touched the young woman's red-stain
ed lips. vera had quickly learned that once her mother had said someth
ing like that, she could not make any complaints or arguments to her, i
t would only be bad for her, because even if vera did not understand it f
ully, she knew that her mother was harboring a dark soul, a soul that s
he feared just as many others have before. this knowledge pleased valky
rie in a way that nothing else could compare, she felt powerful.
underneath the delicate wisps of lavender smelling, russet hair and corn
flower blue orbs, there was a dark woman. this woman looked as if she co
uld rightfully bare the name 'valkyrie', she had dark features and an ev
en darker soul that matched the soft-looking one. although the dark and
soft juxtaposition was there, valkyrie brought it together quite perfectly.
she only hoped that one day, if her daughter made it that far, she would
be able to do the same and for once make her proud by becoming what sh
e was training the child to become. today, however, valkyrie was not doi
ng anything to teach vera, instead she intended on meeting up with a fell
ow death eater. marcus finch and valkyrie had become comrades quite eas
ily, their ideals were the same and marcus always made such interesting c
ompany for the young woman.
the meeting place for the two death eaters was not at any head quarters un
der julian faulkner's big-brother-like watchful eye, nor was it in either of th
eir private homesteads, actually it was in quite the public place in the mugg
le portion of sydney, australia. although it was quite disturbing for either to
be near muggles without taking out their wands and brutalizing any of them,
it was easy for them to be out and talk of politics and other plottings without b
eing turned into the ministry. muggles were idiots after all. "mother, why do t
hese people not know what magic is?" valkyrie looked down at her daughter, w
hat a fool, she thought before answering icily, but not fully to vera. instead the
hard-tongued answer was mostly to muggles. "muggles are lesser beings than o
urselves, vera. they are not granted the ability to understand what we do. they
are like house elves, except worse." valkyrie watched out of the corner of her blu
e-orbs as the child's head nodded as she processed this new information.
as valkyrie and vera arrived outside the restaurant, she wished that she had left
vera with valentina, the only one of her sisters that enjoyed the company of chil
dren and had a partner that she would allow to have her own with. but it was too
late for such actions, so she waited for marcus outside the cafe, only turning to he
r daughter to straighten the girl's dress and give her simple instructions, "you wil
l not spill anything on your dress, vera. you will also not speak a word unless you
are spoken to and if i grant you permission to." val watched as vera suppressed a f
rown before she stood back up to her full height of five foot, nine inches and flatten
ed her own clothes. as valkyrie did so, her forearm caught her gaze and it was com
pletely bare of the dark mark. magic was certainly a useful tool, for she would hav
e had to use make up to hide the mark that was embedded into all of her living fam
ily member's skin, excluding vera due to her youth.
