Wayland sat down in his study and read his morning paper. A scratch at the window alerted him to a familiar owl flapping just outside it. "Come in Raido, what a long way you have come." he said opening the window. The gorgeous brown owl flew in and perched on the back of Wayland's chair, dropping from it's claw a scroll.
Wayland fumbled in his desk and found some treats for the tired bird and then picked up the scroll. "Well what do we have here?" he said. The owl gave a hoot and flew back out the window to look for something more substantial to eat.
The old man sat down, unrolled the parchment and read the contents.
A smile emerged across his face and he tossed the parchment in the fireplace near by. As he watched it burn he couldn't help but be relieved that his daughter's life was now at peace. Finally he thought, she can move on with her life
