After his first year at the school, Magne had found out that there was supposedly some massive creature within the lake. He had been keen to figure out how true this was. He'd spoken to his mother who had said it was possible, depending on the size of the lake, and reminded him about magic and that from what he said about magic many things were possible. So Magne had taken on what his mother had said and gathered some books about giant lake creatures, and some of his mother's books on finding animals in bodies of water and was trying to figure out how he could spot this creature and get a good documentation of it. He figure diving would be the best idea, but the school didn't have any diving equipment.

Lilith was taking a nice little stroll on the castle grounds, just looking around and getting more familiar with the places. She had wandered all the way to the lakefront, the very one she had seen Eoghan on. As if some sort of a pattern this time too she noticed a boy by the waters. Recalling what had happened last time she looked around to see if there was anyone else accompanying him, her eyes narrowed ever so slightly as she noticed he was in fact alone. "Ah, what are you doing?" The first year asked nervously.

Noticed this thread, hope its okay to still hop in :D

Magne glanced round at the girl as she spoke and approached him. He gave a little smile and then motioned out to the lake. "Stories, of very big, creature" he picked his words slowly, his english was better but he liked to just be sure he was saying things correctly. "Want to see if truth," he added, explaining more or less the entire reason for him being at the location he was at, and what he was doing there.

Lilith just stared at the boy for a second. For a moment she asked herself why was she the one stumbling across curious boys trying to see something in the lake. And why was she so inclined to speak to them and make sure they were safe. "Oh, any luck then yet?" She asked taking a few steps forward and glancing cautiously at the water.

Magne shook his head lightly. He looked back out at the water a little forlorn. He wanted to see it, wanted to be able to document it. It had to be interesting had to be a pretty amazing creature, if it existed, and he wanted it to exist pretty deeply. "It would easier, if the school allowed dive, but just be young ," he said not entirely content with his sentence, since perhaps older students could and just ounger students weren't allowed to do it. "I am Magne," he then introduced.

Lilith smiled softly at his curiosity. It was normal she supposed, though there must have been a good reason for the school to deny them diving and such activities in the lake. "I think, there must be a good reason for them to not allow such things, but I can understand the curiosity." She said. "I'm Lilith, but you can call me Lili for short. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking." She felt a little bad for asking, but his accent sounded different definitely more so close to home than here. "I'm from Finland." She added a little unsure whether she had crossed some line.

Magne shrugged a little, he was sure too that the school had a good reason for why they weren't allowed to go diving in the lake, but still, they would be able to see what they needed to. "Nice meet you Lili," he said in response as she introduced herself and then asked where he was from. "Greece, but been here for one year and bit," he said, trying to keep his voice as clear as he possibly could. "Oh, Finland. I live in Norsk, Norway, for five year,"

Nodding at his words Lilith smiled a little. "I have heard Greece is rather beautiful. Never been to myself, but I hope to go one day." She explained, thinking back on those pictures her parents had taken there from before she was born. "Oh, Norway. That one I have been to. I can even say a few words in Norwegian. Not much but I suppose even a few words should an accomplishment. Though I also speak Swedish and they are a bit similar, no?" Her nervousness was coming through in her little ramble so she decided to do something other than just stand there. Taking a few steps closer to the water she crouched down and squinted her eyes. "Hmm. I wish I could shine light in there somehow. Though I suppose it could disturb the habitants." Lilith mumbled the last part more to herself than the boy that was now directly next to her.

Magne nodded in agreement, since he had found Greece to be very beautiful, though he knew every country was, in their own way. That any place could be as beautiful and wonderous as Greece was. He nodded at that and then gave a little smile when she said she spoke swedish. "I think they are very similar," he said speaking slowly in Norwegian to see if she would understand what he was saying, if she did then this would be another way to communicate that was a little bit easier than english was, despite how he'd been improving. He watched her step closer to the water. "Yes, I imagine creature too deep for light," he said.

Lilith smiled at the familiar sounding language, though it was a tiny bit different she could understand most of it. "Oh yes, they indeed are." She said in Swedish, it was a little rusty but better than nothing she supposed. She was glad if they could find another common language, as much as she was comfortable speaking English and wanted to encourage him to speak it too, it was a good safety net whenever it got too overwhelming. It wasn't easy learning new languages. The first year just nodded at the comment about the creature being too deep.

"Perhaps one day we will get a glimpse of it? If not that would be a shame, sounds interesting." Lilith said shrugging her shoulders and turning to look back at the boy.

Magne had to pay close attention as she spoke Swedish, but he did find he was able to piece together what she had said and didn't struggle too much with it. The Ravenclaw knew it would be good, another person he could speak to in a language easier to him when English was the being the worst sort of burden to him. "Hopefully," he said in response. "Someone will have seen it," he added, since depending on how long it had been there, there was no way it wouldn't have been seen at least once.

Lilith smiled, getting up from her position is crouching near the water. "I suppose they must have, if not in recent years probably somewhere along the lines of history." That was very much possible, if nobody had ever seen them she'd be more surprised about that. "Where did you hear of the creature anyways?" She asked, genuinely curious if it was something being passed among students or somewhere else? Or if it was someone trying to make up something that wasn't real and get everyone looking for it for their personal entertainment.

Magne smiled as she turned a little back towards him and then laughed lightly. "I hear other students talking." he replied, he had asked a couple of questions too when he had heard about it, but he had originally just over heard and been sure what they were saying was false, there was simply no way. Just none that this could be a true and actual thing, but there was no way to know unless he saw it or found out more about it,and it had made him very curious.

Lilith smiled, made sense that the students would talk about such things. Surely if there was a rumour about it started once it would travel through generations, there would always be someone curious enough to look for it too. "Suppose that makes sense, well it was nice meeting you, though be careful. My friend fell into the water trying to look for anything that might lurk there." She laughed recalling the time Eoghan had indeed fell in, it was funny now but back then it was anything but.

Lilith smiled as she tried to work out how to best say her next thoughts. "Well I suppose we will be seeing each other around? If you ever see me feel free to say hi or come talk to me, I quite liked talking to you. You seem like a nice person so hopefully we can be friends at some point?" She was probably the worst at making friends, always struggling with how to naturally go about it and needing to voice it rather than just let it happen. Lilith really hoped though that she could make another friend out of Magne, he seemed like someone she would get along with well.

Magne gave a little smile as she spoke, nodding agreement that it was nice to meet her, and that being so close to the water did require a little more paying attention than he would usually otherwise perhaps do. Though Magne didn't really mind getting went, if anything he really did prefer it. The boy nodded. "oh okay, sure!" he replied, wondering what she was off to do now, but happy to have met her. Happy to have had the opportunity to have met her.

Lilith gave Magne a smile, happy to have made yet another friend. "I am going to continue my walk now, have a look around and what not. You be careful, unless you'd like to join me, though a walk might not be quite as interesting as the lake, but the option is there?" She offered in case he would like to continue talking, she wouldn't mind it. Though she might have made the situation awkward now, but better that than just leave without offering him the option to join on the walk. "If you do want to stay here, please tell me if you see anything." The first year added with a bit of excitement to her voice. It would be quite amazing honestly, if there were something to the talks of the students.

Magne had felt a little disppointed that she might wander off and he'd be alone again. He thought she was cool and it was an easy friendship despite all his language issues, which was a little more rare for him. When she offered for him to join her, he nodded slightly. He was meant to be watching the lake and he was sure the moment he turned his back the creature would appear but he glanced at the girl and knew forming friendships was more important than possible creatures. "I join you," he told her as he gathered some of his stuff to be able to walk with her.

Lilith smiled as the boy accepted her invite. She had been worried for nothing, she was glad to make yet another friend hopefully. The first year waited for Magne to gather his things before starting to walk slowly. "So how have you liked the school?" There was genuine curiosity to her question, it was interesting to hear how each individual adapted and saw the experience. For her it had been ups and downs all the way from the start. It was nice to get other perspectives, to perhaps challenge her own feelings.

"For me it was a bit odd, realizing that I'd be half across the globe from my family, but also exciting and then after arriving here, it has been a lot of different emotions. Sometimes I'm sad and miss my family and then other times I am happier than ever." She started, hoping to make him more comfortable telling her about his experience by first doing it herself. Setting those around her at ease was important to Lilith, no matter how long she had known them.

Magne gave a little smile as she talked about her own school experience. he couldn't imagine being much further from his family that he was. He knew they travelled a bit while he was at school, but never that far. but he got it. "School good. I...muggle family...so..big wall for learn," his sentence was a little disjointed but he was sure he got his message across. "This year easier, I have better english now," he added. "Supposedly,"

Lilith smiled, noticing that perhaps her tactic had worked. Magne seemed to feel at least comfortable talking to her. She nodded, understanding what he meant. "Oh yes, yes it is a lot different. My best friend, another first year Ravneclaw, Eoghan. He too has a muggle family and well I grew up in a magical family but my parents, they wanted to learn more about muggles and decided to live among them and kind of stray away from magic I suppose. So growing up I wasn't super involved with magic so it is a lot of new things for me as well." She too seemed to grow more comfortable with the boy. "I think your english seems fine, perhaps we can hang out more in the future too so you can practice it but also have the option to speak norweigian every now and then and I can at least understand most of it." It shouldn't be too hard, swedish and norweigian were so similar and she understood swedish just fine.

Magne was nodded along with what she said, he was trying to put what she was telling him to memory, to remember what the girl was saying about this other boy, and then about herself. He wasn't sure if he would ever want to stray from magic, every little piece he learned was more interesting and useful that the last. It was all so good. "Lot of fun new thing," he said, praising magic. It was easier to do so now. "I have friend who help, he finish...grad..leave, but still write to help," he told her, as if to assure her that he had places to practice, that he just needed to keep speaking it.

Lilith smiled and hummed in response. A lot of fun things indeed, she quite liked everything new she had learned so far. She stopped softly in her tracks, worried she had upset the boy. "That is very nice and I didn't want to be rude or anything. I do think your English is good. I just-" She stopped for a moment to ponder how to say it without sounding completely stupid herself. "I am not very good at making friends, it makes me nervous and I guess I just wanted to let you know I am always up for a chat, were you wanting to have one with me of course." Perhaps she'd have to spend less time buried in the books while here and practice her social skills more.

Magne gave a little smile as she spoke and then stopped when she did. He frowned a little and shook his head. He hadn't thought her rude or anything. He gave a little shake of his head in response. "Good conversation for practice, but don't want bother people to teach me," he tried to explain, that he didn't want her to feel like talking with him was just to then help him. He could just try and talk with people. "We can chat," he added.

It was relief that washed over Lilith's body when she realized she hadn't offended him. She smiled at him and continued walking. "Yes well I do like talking with you so it is never a bother I suppose. Honestly, I was very nervous at first approaching you, like I said I am not the best with talking to new people." Casting a wary glance at the boy she continued. "But it seems that taking the leap of faith and approaching you despite my own fears was a good decision." She meant it, even if she couldn't word it always she appreciated those that did take time out of their day to interact with her. So far Magne had been nothing but kind and easy to talk with. "What are you looking forward to most this year?" Lilith asked curiously.

Magne gave a little nod, he had never been the type to be nervous about approaching people. He had been a little more wary when he'd come to Hogwarts but that had been almost entirely due to the fact that the language was a bit of a struggle for him. Magne wasn't sure he'd thought about what he was looking forward since, since to him all magic was cool and fun and that was what he looked forward to. "I pick elect...," he paused, thinking the word in his head. "Electives year, interested for next," he said. "You?"
