Ethan had decided to sign up to deliver flowers because he was bored and he figured he'd have nothing else to do that Valentine's Day. The only problem was that he was a first year so he didn't really know anyone on his list. He sighed and saw that all he had to go on was a House so he decided to stick around in the great hall and see if he could find people that way.
