Pericles Dragonslayer was fresh out of school, he had gone to school for the last seven years of his education having been homeschooled before such a point, and was happy to be out of school, he was following his family in the sort of business which they had, or well, the business that they'd once had, however, it being March and the sun finally out and strong for long periods of time, the teen had gathered all his belongings and left on a holiday, with the idea of finding something to do, and to lounge around on some of the best beaches which existed across Greece, and his first stop and somewhere he had pretty much decided he one day wanted to live, was the Zakynthos beach, and the entire island, there was nothing like the golden beaches and pearly white cliffs to just get him in the mood for summer, for the club scene, for the music and for the pure amount of talent which existed within when all the different resorts hit peak season, it was a little different hanging out in such places, but Pericles felt like between everything else he did, being able to just hang loose and have fun.

The teen had decided that this beach was the best beach for him, and he was on a lounge chair under the glare of the early morning sun, water soaking the towel as he had freshly come out of the water and headed for where he'd left his belongings. The dragon slayer, as he liked to call himself propped himself up on his elbows and glanced around, it was relatively empty, not much to do by lounge around likely sleep as the day stayed warm but nice, and never so warm as to ruin it much like it did in the sweltering summer heat in these kind of places. The man didn't have a book or anything like that, but was happily smiling as he then glanced at the deep blue of the ocean, where anyone decided to leave such a gorgeous place was beyond him, how any person could say no to such a view was just ridiculous Pericles knew if his family didn't already come from money that he would work hard every day to be able to live and relax in such a stunning place.

Tobiah dropped a lounge chair into the sand, making much more noise than one would expect such an action to make. The teenager didn’t bother being quiet either as he noisily set himself up, setting up an umbrella that he promptly ignored for the chair that was in the blazing sun. The teenager wanted to tan, but once he tired of that, he wanted the umbrella to be already ready for him. Donning some shades, the boy reached for the cigarette that he had tucked behind his ear and he kicked his feet out, his heels in the sand. Tobiah had been lazing around the island for the past few days, still seething from an argument he’d gotten into with his parents. This was what he typically did when he was mad at them, disappear for a few days to enjoy himself however he saw fit before returning to his bed and a warm meal. It was a pattern he’d fallen into since he’d learned to apparate, and he really didn’t see himself growing out of it any time soon.

He moved the tiny stick to his lips, his gaze on the ocean. Gorgeous, he thought to himself. It was a shame that he’d grown up in the frozen tundra of Bulgaria. The teenager didn’t mind the cold so much, but he hated having to bundle up. Mostly though, he hated that other people had to bundle up. How were you supposed to see how cute a person was when they had a hood on obscuring their face. Here in Greece, he could ogle people as they walked past and determine whether they were up to his standards. If they weren’t, he knew that he wouldn’t have to bother with them. He liked the simplicity much like he did in other aspects of his life. Tobiah wasn’t ashamed to say that he liked to find the easy way out in everything he did. He didn’t understand why people worked so hard and struggled so much when there usually was an easier way to do something. That’s why he liked magic so much. It just made life so much easier most of the time. It really was the only downside to being on this beach. Tobiah knew that Greece had a magical beach, but he really couldn’t remember if this was one or not. He turned, for the first time acknowledging the guy who he had probably disturbed as he’d settled himself down. It wasn’t to apologize, but to ask for something. “Hey. Got a light?” he asked, his accent strong as he pantomimed the action of lighting his cigarette in case the guy didn’t understand English. He didn’t know any Greek, so he hoped that the guy at least understood his English.

Pericles loved Greece in the summer, hell, really he loved the whole continent in the summer, with the abundance of parties, clubs and festivals that he could go to the teen had no issues with being bored, and since it was still early, before the real fun began he had all of the time to prepare and all of the time to get enough money in his work to really enjoy it. Going straight into the family business after leaving school had really been the best option, he worked mostly the hours he wanted, and it gave him bragging rights like most would never be able to claim to, Pericles thoroughly enjoyed the summer, and it was definitely what he was looking forward to as he lay on the beach of the stunning greek island. The man had planned to stay till about midday when the sun grew too high and it became too hot and when that time came he would go back to the village and let himself enjoy some of the greek goddesses on offer, after all, Pericles thought of himself as great man, he was nothing like his name sake, he was tanned and built, soft brown hair, and a set of almost emerald green eyes, he thought of himself as a gift from Zeus himself rather of his parents, and Pericles was never above using it.

The man barely acknowledged as someone lay down next to him, and he just looked over briefly before focusing on the sun and getting himself dry, and just getting himself to enjoy the day, he was easily able to block out others, since the beach while beautiful was not overly large and he'd visited enough beaches to know as long as there were no kids running around causing chaos all would be fine. As the man asked for a light, Pericles noted the english was accented but given that his own was sketchy and accented he wasn't going to say anything, "Yeah, hold on," he replied before reaching to his belongings and from within his bag he pulled out a lighter, while not much of a smoker himself, he preferred to stay in complete shape, and only really smoked when he was at a certain point of drunk and it was offered to him, he always carried a light, even a muggle one, though it was really the only muggle thing he owned, Pericles handed over the lighter and just smiled, "I think there is enough left," he added, glancing at the low amount of lighter fluid within the lighter, "Do not smoke often to merit new purchase really," he added taking a moment to find all the right english words and then just shrugging at the other man, "Pericles," he introduced as he held out a hand to the other man.

Tobiah leaned over in his place and grabbed the lighter, his fingers lightly brushing the other man's fingers. As he brought the lighter closer, he could see that it probably only had enough fluid for a few more cigarettes. It was more than what Tobiah had on him, so he was pretty grateful. He usually just used his wand to light up, but he wasn't exactly sure it was worth risking a trip to the Ministry for a cigarette. His habit was pretty bad, but he'd managed to avoid getting himself in trouble for it. Besides, it was way too nice of a day to waste at the Ministry or dealing with his parents once he was released by the Ministry. "Thanks" he replied through pursed lips as he lit up. The teenager could feel his body relax as it began to get its fix, the first one of the day. He'd thought about cutting back before, but he hadn't quite gotten past that thinking about it stage.

"Tobiah" he introduced himself, reaching over once more, this time to shake the man's hand. It was a quick shake but Tobiah stayed leaning over so he could give the man his lighter back. After he leaned back, blowing smoke into the sky. "You sound like you're from here" he stated casually. It was something that he'd picked up from all of his travels, the ability to find the natives. At least he thought the guy sounded Greek, especially with that name. "You come to this beach often?" he added. "There's not going to be any children or families showing up at any moment?" he asked, hopeful that he'd be able to avoid hearing kids screaming or mothers and fathers arguing. He got enough of that at home.

Pericles watched the other man light up his cigarette and could almost visibly see him relax, although he didn't care, what ever vices the other man had was up to him, and that was all that mattered, Pericles liked drinking and he liked women a lot, so he was hardly to be one to complain about someone having their own methods of relaxing. The greek man looked at him as he introduced himself and gave a small nod, Tobiah, "Thanks" he said as he took back the lighter and then placed it back within his belongings, doubting that he would need it again, and then just nodded to the question, "I am, I am from mainland Greece, I like to think that I was handed to my parents as a gift from the old pagan gods who sat upon mount olympus, where are you from?" he told him with a cocky smile, clearly half believing what he said, and he motioned towards himself clearly thinking that he was the embodiment of the old pagan gods that had countless temples erected to them in this country and in the areas where the old greek empire existed, Pericles knew that he wasn't actually but he did slay dragons, and he could do magic, surely that meant he was one step away from being a god.

At the second question the man just shrugged, "This is my first time to Zakynthos alone," he replied, "Do not come often," Pericles ran a hand through his hair and shifted the sunglasses ever so slightly, "I hope no children or families arrive," he added glancing at the area around them but he could imagine that there wouldn't be too many not until after school hours, "The season hasn't begun to it'll hopefully be fine," the teen propped himself up on his elbows as he finished what he was saying, glancing between the beaches entrance and the water, the sun shining down upon them with growing warmth and strength. Pericles wondered why the man had such an interest in knowing whether families would be there, in his mind while a little frustrating he could deal with them, perhaps Tobiah couldn't, "Not a fan of kids?"

If Tobiah had been there with anyone else, he would have turned to that person and made a gesture as if to ask if the Greek man was serious. He was alone though, so he did no such thing. Instead, he chuckled slightly. " I've never quite heard that before" he replied good naturedly. "I'm from Serbia, and I'm pretty sure my parents wouldn't describe me as a gift of any kind" he smirked. He could definitely think of other words that his parents might use to describe him - headache, problem child, pain in the ass. There was plenty to choose from.

Taking another drag, Tobiah listened to Pericles who was neither able to confirm or deny that children might show. He shook his head. "No, not a fan at all" he admitted with no shame. Children were loud and obnoxious and caused more problems than they solved. Moving his cigarette down to the sand, he ground it in, making sure it'd gone fully out. He finally had a good look at the guy and could sort of understand the whole thinking he was a 'gift from the gods.' "I am a fan of surfing though and those waves look amazing" he added as he leaned back on his elbows and stared out at the ocean. He wasn't a good surfer, but enjoyed it as a hobby.

Pericles just shrugged at him, he knew full well that most people didn't describe themselves as gifts from gods but Pericles did think very highly of himself, and it really showed in how he carried himself, in how he stood tall and proud, or was unrelenting in how he saw himself, he might not be an actual gift from the gods but he was probably pretty damn close and though he wasn't the best behaved guy in the family that also didn't matter, "Oft, that's harsh, but f#ck them," he replied, Pericles had a working relationship with his family, they got along, he could deal with them, he didn't particularly like being interrupted by them, he didn't like having to spend too much time with them, it was likely a good thing he had opted to go on holiday at this point, to decide to go to the different places now while the rest of them were either working or at school, Pericles having left school recently and working in the family business had opted to take a little break as the weather had gotten far better and before everyone would be running around this beach, the greek teen glanced at the beach, he preferred them quiet, though it also meant there was a lack of talent at the beach, and all he had to talk to was this guy, Tobiah.

Pericles got the impression that his new companion didn't like children and when the man answered his query positively he couldn't help but nod at him, "Kids do seem to scream a lot for no reason," he agreed, "I have young cousins, they are awful," he added with a shudder as if to really express how much he hated kids, "But quiet beaches also mean there are a lack of ladies," he grumbled slightly as he sat up slightly and glanced around at the mostly empty beach, it was still stunning though, "You should go surf on those waves, the water is just," Pericles ended his statement with a hand gesture that could only mean perfect, Pericles had never surfed, while he liked water sports as an idea, he did think that surfing was for him, "I can watch your stuff?" he added with a shrug.

Tobiah shrugged his shoulders. It wasn't like he could really blame them for not considering him a gift. Tobiah knew that he was a pain in the ass, and it wasn't like he had much of a plan to change his behavior any time soon. He liked how he was, considered it fun even. The man thought that it was others who needed to loosen up more or just come to see things his way. He didn't really see any need to change. He'd always managed to avoid serious trouble, almost being expelled from wizarding school aside. For him, life was going fine. "Family. Can't live without them. Am I right?" he added with an eye roll. Tobiah disliked one of his older brothers immensely, but his other siblings were pretty alright. Most of the time.

Looking around the beach, Tobiah realized that Pericles was right. There was a decided lack of ladies... and guys when it came down to it. The beach was pretty empty, but it was still pretty early. He figured that they were probably still nursing hangovers or something. "The day is young" he replied as he stood up, stretching his arms way above his head. Nodding his head at the guy, Tobiah figured he didn't really have much to hide. It was just a small bag that he had with him that had his wand and a paperback book. Pericles didn't look like the kind of guy to go snooping around. He didn't look like he cared enough, so Tobiah wasn't too worried about his wand being discovered. "I think I'm gonna take you up on that offer. I owe you one" he stated, moving forward and throwing a thank you over his shoulder. Moving to the water, Tobiah spotted a bunch of surf boards lined up, probably for a lesson or something. Quickly moving, he took one, racing into the water before anyone could discover that he'd borrowed a board.

Pericles just nodded at his statement, he knew that he would prefer to live without them occasionally, but that often he preferred to be given his family and what it meant for him, given that he was going to spend most of his life working with dragons was thanks to them and his family, which was definitely a good thing since Pericles could barely imagine himself in a suit trying to sit in some office working, he was far better out occupying himself with the family business, "I do work for my family, which can be a little annoying at times, but it's better than having to actively work to find a job, and I can take as many holidays as I want," he added with a smirk, clearly showing off to the other guy how he had managed to get himself a good job which others would also want. He knew that perhaps Tobiah wouldn't care, but Pericles didn't mind that he just wanted to say something, tell someone about it without too much detail and also be able to show off what he was doing in few words. It probably wasn't the best thing to do, since he didn't even know this boy that well, and the beach wasn't exactly a magical beach, though it looked amazing, but really he would find some excuse.

As Pericles glanced around him at the he found himself agreeing again, since there wasn't much to do, and it was still early in the so they'd be able to see if any young woman would turn up, and really Pericles was sort of hoping that they would not that Tobiah wasn't good enough company already but he was always keeping his options for the day open, and being able to spend some time just having some fun with some girls, which was likely the same for Tobiah unless he swung the other way, which Pericles would never mind. He just agreed with a small smile, "Let's hope so, afternoon naps are better with a girl," he joked with Tobiah though in part deadly serious about it. Suggesting he go surfing and offering to look after his belongings was more than what Pericles could do for this guy, he knew that no one would take the stuff so he hardly needed to be watching it, and so he just shrugged, "It's no problem," he told him as the other boy left to go surfing and Pericles just lay back down on the ground, bathing in the sun, allowing the cool morning heat to warm himself, keeping part of his mind on his belongings and also on the other boys belongings, but not at all caring about having to do it, it really wasn't like Pericles had anywhere else to be.

The idea of working with any of his family members sounded miserable to Tobiah. His oldest brother was a tool as was his father. He figured he might be able to work with his mother for a while before she became too smothery. All in all, he was pretty happy that he'd never been forced to work with them. When he'd been pulled out of Durmstrang, Tobiah had lived in fear for days, thinking he was going to be homeschooled. The idea of being trapped in his house with no companionship other than family had almost been enough to scare him straight. It had, sort of. There'd been no discovered incidents at his second school. The then teen Tobiah had learned to better hide his rule breaking activities and his snogging with other students. Of course he still did them, but he lived in fear of being homeschooled.

As he sat in the water waiting for a good wave, Tobiah pondered what Pericles said. By the time he'd spotted a good wave and begun to paddle towards it, Tobiah had determined that cuddling in general was the fun part. It didn't matter who you did it with. Guy, girl. It made no difference to the man. He'd found that he slept better when he had someone there beside him. Standing up, slightly unsteady, Tobiah rode the wave in. He did that for the next half hour, watching as the beach became slightly more full of people. By the time he decided to head in, Tobiah found himself slightly adrift from where he'd left his belongings with Pericles. He hoped the man was honest and was taking care of his stuff. Spotting two girls that appeared their age, Tobiah dropped the board and headed over. Not too long after, he was walking down the beach, his arm around the two muggle girls as he looked for Tobiah. Finding the man, Tobiah became even more boisterous than usual. "Pericles! Look alive" he called out. "This is Meghan...and this lovely lady is Lacey. They're college students...from America" he emphasized. He dropped into the sand, settling into his beach chair.

Pericles was able to just enjoy the sunshine, lying back on the soft sand, it was just so much nicer than stressing over his work, of worrying about what he had. He didn't need to be doing anything other than just relaxing, he'd gone for an intensive but easy swim before speaking with the other boy, Tobiah, he had no interest in such sports he was at the beach with months of this weather ahead of him, he wasn't going to going to do more than he absolutely needed to, he wasn't even that aware that as he lay on the sand of the world around him getting busier, of more people arriving and eventually was so zoned out that he didn't hear Tobiah come back until the man called his name. Pericles opened his eyes and then sat up on his elbows as he looked at the boy he'd just returning with two girls beside him, and Pericles looked vaguely surprised at this but he smiled at them both before smiling at Tobiah with an almost impressed look to him, he got to his feet and held out his hand to the girls, "I'm Pericles," he said with a charming smile to them, making his accent a little bit stronger as he spoke.

"it's a pleasure to meet you both," he said to them as he settled back down on his towel as the two girls seemed to sit with them, he figured that the other guy had more interest in the Meghan girl and so he struck up a conversation with the Lacey girl, just asking them what they were doing in this country, how they were enjoying it, just making polite conversation with her, getting to know her, "I know a bar not too far from here, it's a little inland, we can go drink, get some food," he offered to the group, knowing that while it was easy to take to people on the beach, the more closed nature of a bar would be better if they were hoping to get lucky, which Pericles definitely thought was on the table when the other boy had brought the two girls over to him, "I can do all the talking," he offered, since he was the only greek and he would best be able to speak to the people they were ordering from.

Tobiah nearly laughed at Pericles' amused expression, but because the girls were present, he merely gave the man a half shrug as if to say that this was nothing special and he did this all the time. That was a fairly true assessment of the teenager. He never had trouble finding someone when he needed them. Some of the girls seemed drawn to the fact that he smoked and was obnoxiously rude. Tobiah stepped around the girls as they settled into the towels, finding a spot and stretching out, using his arm as a headrest. He stared at the two girls' reactions to Pericles as he spoke. They seemed in awe. Desperate he thought to himself. Megan moved over close to him and began speaking to her, but he wasn't paying much attention. Mostly, he just nodded his head and made noises that sounded as if he was interested. It seemed to work well as she continued enthusiastically relaying some story. When he actually paid attention, he realized it was about their flight to Greece. He ran his free hand down the girl's arm, a smile on his face as he nodded his head.

Glad when Pericles spoke to the group as a whole, Tobiah listened to him as he put his shades on. The guy was suggesting for the group to move to a bar, and he nodded his head. He could do with a meal and definitely do with a drink. If he was going to be stuck listening to the girl's voice all day, he was going to need something. It was only when Pericles offered to translate for them that his enthusiasm dimmed slightly as he watched the reaction of Megan and Lacey. They spoke excitedly about hearing him speak Greek. Tobiah wasn't happy that the man had an advantage over him, but he began to pack his things anyway. "Sounds like a plan" he added in an enthusiastic voice as he helped the girls stand and then placed an arm around the one girl. "Lead the way."

Pericles had not expected Tobiah to return with the girls but he was glad that he had, though likely not involving as much chase as Pericles like, it was definitely fun to speak to them, and specifically to the girl who'd attached herself to him, where the other had focused on Tobiah, the suggestion was a welcome one, and the teen put on the few items of clothing he had with him as well as picking up his bag, just getting himself ready for this, knowing exactly where they could both eat and get drinks and where he could very easily impress them both with his greek, he had always found that the foreign girls liked when he spoke greek, he could say just about anything and wow them with it, the suave and charm he could have oozing from everything that he said, and though he wasn't competing with Tobiah, it certainly gave him an edge that he couldn't help but feel he had. There were two girls, so they wouldn't exactly have to share, but the thought of competing was something that Pericles could easily rise to, and he was sure that the other boy could too. After geting to his feet and ensure that the rest were all ready he put his arm around the girl, Lacey and began walking in the direction of the bar.

The walk itself was not long, and in the strong spring sun, this was likely a good thing, and a good thing too that it was not as hot as it could be but given the island's general location it was not exactly cold, and he took the time to give a little information about the island as they went, it didn't matter how true any of the statements were, they were merely pieces to impress. He pointed to the bar up ahead, "It's just there," he said to them, just as they nearer, it was a little friendly restaurant, a mostly muggle place which he'd been to before, he knew that they served good drinks and they served good food, Pericles opened the door for them as they walked in, greeting the man at the door with a loud, "Yassas," he smiled warmly at him before asking for a table for four, and a round of drinks, he pulled out Lacey's chair as she sat and then sat himself, pulling off the sunglasses and smiling at them, "This is Ouzo," he said to the group, "Best drink in all of Greece," he held up the shot as a way to get this started, hoping this would end with him getting lucky.

With his arm around the girl, he was pretty sure her name was Meg, Tobiah followed behind Pericles, eyeing the guy. They’d only just met earlier today and definitely couldn’t be considered friends, so it was easy for Tobiah to assume that the man meant to usurp him and leave with both women. It was his plan, if he could somehow manage it of course. If not, he supposed that Meg or whatever her name was would do. She was pretty and spoke incessantly on their walk. By the time they’d arrived, he could’ve known her entire life story if he’d been doing more than just nodding and adding the occasional ‘tell me more’ when she took a breath. Pericles used the walk to be their tour guide, and he could tell that both women were listening to every word he said. Tobiah was listening as well, so he could use the information the next time he was here. It was a good strategy, Tobiah had to admit.

Tobiah followed behind every one else as they entered the restaurant, and he had to admit that it was nice looking. He took a seat, ignoring Meg’s sigh as he didn’t help her into her seat as Pericles had done to his girl. As Pericles told the group about the drink that they were about to imbibe in, Tobiah finally broke his relative silence and spoke. “How about a toast? To good drinks, good food, and much more fun” he smirked at Pericles. With that he held his drink up so that they could all clink them together and then he lifted the shot to his lips.
