it felt like a lifetime since Briar had last entered the castle she had for so long called home, the first real building home she had lived in. a lot had happened since she had watched her sister graduate, and even more since she had graduated. the main obvious difference from the outside observer at least was that instead of walking up the long drive on her own walking beside her hand in hers was her little willow. she was almost two now and it had been a year since her first steps and wow she really was growing up. her original plan was to have left her daughter at her aunts but unfortunately madlyn had been called out on a last minute thing and was unable to look after the girl, Dee was also busy, he had another appointment with his healer and that was something she wanted to try and shelter willow from, not that she was the kind of mum to shelter her daughter. no she certainly wasn't a sheltered girl. but today wasn't about willow. the girl had been bribed with a rare trip to the ice cream shop if she behaved and today was about Minoas her brother.
It was funny to think on how much he had grown up since she had first met him down a pit in the forbidden forest at the start of his first year, and how they had escaped acromantular together, as far as friendships go that wasn't the most normal start, but then neither of them were normal people and her best friends were first met in the forest that she had spent so much time in as a student, even when she was head girl and knew full well it was meant to be forbidden. when she entered the great hall she looked around there were a lot of familiar faces. students she had known, her former professors and of course minoas' family. she took a seat next to mrs Strati and picked willow up and put her on her lap though she soon shuffled across to the other ladies lap. she had always seemed to like the lady, maybe because she slipped her food that Briar would not let her have, at least in that quantity, like chocolates, and she was also an excellent cook. she listened to the head boy and head girl speeches. she had known artemis they had played on the quidditch team together, and been in the same house, unfortunately she didn't know the head boy she hadn't mixed with many slytherins, and the ones she had mixed with usually ended up in a sticky end. they were both good speeches and Briar applauded each of them in turn. next came the handing out of the diplomas. she clapped for everyone, clapping slightly harder for the students she knew which was mainly the lions. cheering extra for minoas who's large family meant that he had a fairly loud clap. soon the ceremony was over and Bria got up taking willow back of mrs Strati. her daughter was starting to get fidgety after sitting still for so long, but she must and it to her she was well behaved. it looks like they would be doing an ice cream stop on the way home. maybe she should get one for dee too. she didn't fancy one herself. she went for a walk around the hall with her daughter stopping every now and then to talk to someone or another, be it one of her old teachers who were surprised to see her looking so grown up and even more surprised to hear she had a daughter, or be it one of the students who had just graduated giving words of congratulations. Eventually she returned to the cluster where the stratis's had formed and seeing minoas She let go of willows hand stooping down and whispering to her "Go and say a big congratulations to uncle Min" then standing a little back she saw her toddle towards the boy, or rather young man throw her arms around him congaulation uncle min"[/b] she said as he picked her up and gave her a proper hug. Briar walked over joining the group giving minoas a hug too. "Congratulations Bro." she said taking willow back off him so he could be with his family, and man he had a lot of them, there were probably more greek men in the hall now than there ever had been in the place over how ever many years the school had been open all together. she enjoyed the celebration that followed. when it was over she said goodbye to her friends and family before leaving half being pulled along by willow who was starting to get impatient for her ice cream I wonder where she gets that impatient for food from she thought to herself as she walked down the drive chuckling slightly at the thought, even less than two she could see a fair few similarities between herself and her daughter.
