Giulia still felt like she had stepped into someone else's life. This couldn't really be happening to her. Boys like Aikihiro Chen didn't talk to girls like her. The whole time she had been getting ready she spent bracing herself for when he inevitably didn't show up, and when he had, with a flower... how was she supposed to react to that? She had felt like she was in a fantasy this whole time, a handsome, popular boy, dressed as a prince, taking her on a date. She felt choked with nerves, sentences dying in her throat even if she had been confident expressing herself properly in English. When he asked what she wanted to do, Giulia did her best to smile, a feeble, messy thing even she could tell wasn't entirely convincing. "Oh, whatever you like!" She said, too quickly, then immediately regretted it. What if this was a ploy? Was he going to try to drown her in the apple bobbing area, or abandon her in the tent? Were his friends waiting to dump blood on her???? Letting him choose the activity had been a big mistake, but it was too late to go back now.

Akihiro chuckled. He could tell she felt nervous, and he did his best to alleviate that tension. "Well, perhaps we can check out the drinks and snacks first, then reassess from there?" He offered. "If you would feel more comfortable, I'm content to sit down at a table and talk for a while." He suggested, wanting to make sure she had a good time tonight. "I wasn't lying, I truly would like to get to know you better, Giulia." He gave her his best smile, hoping to ease some of her worries.

This had to be a dream. Giulia almost struggled to focus on what Akihiro was saying, so lost in her own thoughts and nerves. "Oh, um, yes, that sounds like a good idea!" She said a little too quickly at his proposed plan, feeling blood rush to her cheeks as he continued. This had to be a prank. Boys like him didn't want to know girls like her. She smiled back shakily though, nodding. "I would like to know you too." She said in a small voice, heart thudding. The last thing she wanted was to be too enthusiastic, to give him something to hold against her.

Akihiro smiled, leading her gently over to the snacks table. "Be careful of the brownies, the spiders are enchanted to run off of them," He warned her, picking up some cookies and cupcakes before moving to the drinks. "Would you like a drink?" He asked, pouring himself some juice. He gave her a gentle smile, trying to be as unintimidating as he could.

Akihiro was like the sun, and Giulia couldn't keep her eyes off him. The longer this went on, the more like a real date it felt. People like Akihiro didn't like girls like her. They just didn't. But here they were, and nothing had exploded yet. “Oh...” She laughed nervously, steering clear of the brownies and just grabbing a couple of biscuits. She nodded at his question, giving what she hoped was a charming smile. “Yes please...”

Akihiro smiled, grabbing them both a drink. He looked around, spotting a free table, and moved over to it, balancing his plate and both drinks before setting them down, settling in himself and smiling at her. "So, Giulia. Where are you from?" He questioned. "Have you always lived in New Zealand?"
