If she could have remembered how to smile, Leah would have been doing so exuberantly as her bare feet left soft prints behind her in the sand. It was a Friday night and most of the town was getting ready to head out into the Junction, leaving a scarcity of figures along the usually so crowded beach. The sun was on its way to setting now as it glowed with a biting shade of red and spilt out over the horizon. It was a wonder why no one else was here to bask in such a glorified sight but Leah was not complaining, not even in the slightest. It was nearing a fortnight now since she had last seen her baby boy and unlike any other depressive issues that had arisen in the past, Leah had had her jaw concreted. Solitude was the answer to dealing with this because she simply couldnt talk about her Gabriel without crumbling into pieces. No one but Kobe had been witness to her tears and the young woman was determined to have it stay that way. But oh how she missed him, like nothing she had ever missed before. Its for the best, Leah.
A mild breeze blew up from the crown of the waves as they barrelled into shore, rushing a wave of goosebumps over her denim shorts clad legs and throwing her messily curled blonde hair back behind her. Kobe puffed up his white chest, yanked on his lead and yelped defiantly in the face of its most possessive point. But once it had passed his barks continued to echo sharply into her ears. In frustration she growled his name but the leash only wound tighter around her clenched fist until she could feel the skin begin to smart beneath it. One last time did she rouse on him but Leah was no much for him and he sure as hell knew it too. With a triumphant snort, Kobe ripped the leash from her hand and galloped at a blindingly fast pace down the length of the beach.
Kobeee! Leah cried exasperatedly as she sprinted off in his tyrannous path though almost relieved when she saw the reason. The hazed figure of a tall, broad-shouldered figure; a friendship in short. A feeling Leah could not put her finger on sparked her entire being with adrenaline, and not from running either but she shook it off. It was no use, but she called after the Border Collie several times more before she caught his collar just as he was about to leap up onto the poor soul he had deemed his friend. Oh my god, Im so sorry. Hes a... Leah cast her beautifully bright blue eyes upward at the man and her voice failed her, she could have sworn she had felt her heart skip a beat as she stood there enraptured by the weaker shade of blue in his own eyes. Realising she was staring, Leah literally had to drag her gaze away from his face to calm herself but the blush rose in her cheeks nonetheless. He probably thought her a freak and it was almost scary that she cared so much. ... a, um, psycho. Sorry again. The doe-eyed woman laughed a little and with the leash now firmly in her hand she began to usher the lumbering, over-sized puppy away. It was only wishful thinking on her behalf that hed stop her.
