Fourth Years, Lesson Three

Landon waited for his class to enter as he leaned against his desk, and greeted them as usual, "Hey guys! Don't bother sitting down. We are going out today." He tugged a bit on his gloves, "Get your gloves and work robes. There are goggles in that crate on the way out the door. Get a pair. I have enough here for everyone. Now, what we are doing today is simple. Cultivating Bubotubers." He didn't notice the disgusted look on some of his student's faces and simply smiled at them all, knowing that they would learn a lot that lesson.

Landon walked toward the door and motioned, "Follow me!" He led them to a large patch where many large, black Bubotubers stuck vertically out of the ground. There were plenty for the students to be split up between. "That mound on the ground for their nutrients is Mooncalf Dung." It was hard for him to collect, however, and he used magic instead of actually touching it with his hands. At least it had no odor.

"Now, I want you to take handfuls and spread it around evenly. Be careful not to poke or prod any of the swellings." Landon smiled as he watched the class carefully do as told. Once everyone was done, he silently cast a scourgify spell on their gloves and robes. "I'll water them tonight, if it doesn't rain. They will have their fulfill of nutrients. By the next lesson, they will be ready to have their pus drained and collected. You may leave once you collect your things."

Assignment: RP the lesson.

Teddy laughed a little as Professor Carter gave his instructions. "You really know how to pick the fun lessons, Professor," he said, adjusting his gloves. Herbology certainly was the least glamorous of the subjects Hogwarts offered and Teddy looked round to see how the likes of Friday and Veronica were coping with today's task. He grabbed a pair of goggles from the crate and grabbed a handful of the Mooncalf dung and started spreading it around his Bubotuber. A year ago, he might have been tempted to lob a bit of dung at Audrey just for a laugh, but he’d matured, at least enough to resist throwing dung during class. “Can't wait” he muttered sarcastically when he heard what they were doing next week then packed up and left the greenhouses.

Elodie was tired that week, having been busy arguing with her wand. Somehow even in fourth year, she was struggling to control her wand. It was overly powerful half the time, or just refusing to listen to her. She really needed to ask a Professor for help, but part of her wanted to try and figure it out on her own. Dreading her lessons a bit, Elodie walked to class and took her seat.

She was confused at first when they were instructed to head outside. She raised a brow and followed, relieved when she found out that it wasn't a spell lesson. She wasn't exactly thrilled to be working with the dung, but it wasn't the worst thing she'd handled. She took a breath before approaching and working carefully. She didn't want to make a mess. She smiled as she heard the comment from her classmate, tossing him an easy grin. "It does sound like fun, doesn't it?" She murmured back, before gathering her things and heading back. She'd probably take a quick shower when she returned to her dorms. @Teddy Pirrip

Lucy usually liked herbology. Usually. Sometimes she didn't really want to get dirty or touch mooncalf dung or whatever else there was. She wasn't like her cousin Rosalind, whom Lucy knew would love this. She noticed that the professor didn't touch the mooncalf dung, though they were expected to. She bristled at that fact but got to it anyway, piling the dung evenly around a bubotuber plant. Lucy was extra careful not to poke or prod the pustules as she worked. There was something almost therapeutic about the action of simply patting down dung, loathe as she was to admit it. Once done, the professor cast a silent spell to clean them up for which Lucy was grateful but she still liked the idea of getting clean once back in the castle the old-fashioned way.

Callie walked into the herbology greenhouse, and didn't bother sitting down as the professor was then guiding them outside. She grabbed a pair of goggles from the crate when the professor told them to and then continued outside. She put on her gloves and work robes and was glad for it,, as the professor was then telling them what they would be doing. It wasn't the most fun thing to do but she didn't particularly mind either. The teen just watched as the professor did it and then set to work doing it herself, feeling pretty content as she worked away. She was careful to not poke or prod any of the swellings and jsut worked until the professor wrapped up the lesson, at that point she was able to pack up and leave the room.

Enoch walked into the herbology classroom and was already sitting down when the professor told them to not bother. He rolled his eyes, sure that they'd be doing something that had them getting stuck into the dirt or something, and in fact, it was worse. He watched the professor demonstrate what it was they had to do. And then watched as other students then took the time to actually do it. Enoch just stood back and watched others do it, and gave it as long as he could before he did the smallest amount of it and then just headed away not doing any more of it than he asbolutely had to.

Veronica followed the class outside, ready for the hands-on lesson. Bubotubers weren't the most pleasant of magical plants, but she appreciated the practical experience. After gearing up with gloves, work robes, and goggles, she listened closely as Professor Carter explained the task. Spreading the Mooncalf Dung carefully around the Bubotubers, she took care not to disturb the swellings. The lesson was straightforward, and once the task was complete, Veronica was glad to head back and clean up, knowing they’d tackle the more challenging part of harvesting the pus next time, which she wasn’t looking forward to given its reputation. Once she had finished cleaning up Veronica grabbed her things and made her way back up to the classroom.
