Fourth Years, Lesson Six

Gabrielle had to admit she felt a little morose about this last lesson with her fourth years. Sure, they still had the exam to go, but next year they'd be in OWLs with a new teacher. Not all of the students loved History of Magic - not many of them really even liked it, in all fairness - but she appreciated that they at least showed up to class, and that some of her attempts at making the classes a bit more interesting had landed. She'd just have to keep working on it over time.

As usual for a last lesson, Gabrielle had arranged a table of snacks, some healthy, some decidedly less so. She'd also varied it up with some Greek, Cretan and Chilean snacks, including empanadas, cassava cake, kalitsounia and baklava. She figured she might as well kept it somewhat relevant to the year's studies, after all. She had some puzzle sheets, zen colouring and pencils as well, figuring in fourth year they might benefit from a chill out lesson as much as a revision lesson. Goodness only knew she would. "Good morning," she greeted, watching as the students took their seats. She leaned against the table, taking the class in for a moment before she began to talk.

"Well, this is it, I suppose," Gabrielle started, giving a small shake of her head. "Once you've done your exam, you're done with me." She placed a hand to her head, in mock dramatics. "Whatever shall you do?" She couldn't help but chuckle, shaking her head again. "In all seriousness, thank you. You've been a great class and I will miss teaching you. I'll still be here, so if you do need any help with any theoretical work in the next couple of years, or if you want to learn about things they won't teach you at Hogwarts, just ask." She didn't expect many to take her up on it, but she wasn't going to say no if any of the students had some interesting ideas they wanted to look more into. Miranda had no excuse not to keep visiting her anyway, that was probably enough. "Anyway, end of semester, so you're free to revise. Or chat quietly amongst yourselves or ask me anything. Or do some puzzles or colouring in or take a quiet nap, if that'll make you feel better." She went back to her cup of coffee, letting the students get to it. She wandered around the classroom as they set about doing their own thing, asking if they needed anything, but certainly had no intention of penalizing students who weren't studying. Once the lesson was up, hoping at least some of them would go on to do well in History with Professor Borisyuk.

Homework
RP the lesson (I will accept basically an attendance post because of my late posting, apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience). Good luck with your last minute lesson cramming! ;)

Sofi listened to Professor Moncrieffe say her farewells, it felt strange that this was their last lesson with her before moving onto OWLs with Professor Borisyuk. Sofi picked out a snack then spent the rest of the lesson reading over her notes. At the end of the lesson she packed up and left the classroom, remembering to thank Professor Moncrieffe on her way out.

Alana hasn’t thought much about the fact she’d have all new professors when she returned for fifth year. Did it matter all that much? She wasn’t exactly attached to her professors as it was, so maybe she wouldn’t even notice. Alana smiled at Professor Monctieffe as she made her way into the classroom and sat down. It was a review lesson as to be expected but before they got to work the professor gave them a little farewell speech, it must be weird for her but then she did this every year surely? Every year was a group of fourth years she’d teach for the final time, surely she was used to it by now? Once the speech was over Alana took out her notes and spent the lesson going through them. Once it was over she packed up and left the classroom.
