Alina hadn't told anybody about her plans to explore, and while feelings of unease were slowly creeping along her body she didn't regret it.

Sneaking out of the dorm took the longer part of twenty minutes and by the time she was sneaking out of the large wooden doors it was darker than she'd expected. Slipping her wand out of her Jean pocket she spoke the incantation and followed the light down towards the dark forest that usually would scare away second years but only made her more curious.

Her bag snagged on a tree branch as she pushed her way past, stepping carefully over twigs and stones so she wouldn't trip. Her hair was tied back, her clothes black and she had even put black stripes on her face to put her into the adventurous spirit but her bright pink bag (if anyone asked she'd swear that it's red) was the only colour on her as she stepped deeper into the dark forest.

A long whistling howl could be heard in the distance and Alina's throat turned to stone as she looked around, seeing nothing but roots and trees and shadows. Shining her light higher she could see that if she turned left, the path was covered in cobwebs, while the right path was much darker. She shrugged and followed the much darker path knowing she'd get around to exploring the rest of the forest later.

Continuing her walk down the dark trail, Alina swore as she slammed her shin into a thick branch. Pointing the light she noticed that her jeans had torn, and it was red and sticky. "Great" she thought as she sat down on a thick root. "Now what am I gonna do?"

Sorry if it's not great, this is my first rp in six months and it's also typed on a phone, just wanted to get something out tonight!

Bethany's mother had died in childbirth, finally giving life to the daughter she had always wanted, only for hers to be taken away. This death affected her entire upbringing because it broke her father and her five older brothers, naturally, as they had all been close to Beth's mom. Bethany however, could not say the same. That is not to say that she didn't love her mom, or at least the idea of her, the stories or memories of her. But her mother's death had affected her differently; it was hard to miss someone you never had the chance of knowing. It pained her to admit these thoughts to herself, but this pain was always going to be different than the pain the rest of her family felt of this death. Bethany just didn't know how to deal with death because no one close to her had ever died.

This death was no exception. Avie Mitchell had not been someone Bethany had been close to, so once again she felt like she had nothing to mourn over but memories and stories through other people. But she had met him once and he had been nice to her even though he was older and she had only been a first year. He had made her feel like she did at home playing with her older brothers. But now the memory of their one and only encounter was haunting to think of. Avie had been asking a ghost what happened to someone after death, and how long it took for them to become a ghost. She had never figured out why Avie wanted to know this information so badly, but the thought of the former Slytherin wanting to know such things about death made it all more eerie to think of now.

Bethany had to escape the castle in the wake of all this. She was afraid the ghost of Avie would appear in the hallways at any moment, and she felt like she didn't have a right to mourn him or be affected by his death because she didn't know him like so many others did. So the Gryffindor had escaped the atmosphere of the castle and put as much distance between herself and people as she could, simply hiding out in the woods. She needed a distraction but for now distance from the situation would work. The twelve year old had found a tree to sit against, with her knees against her chest and her head resting on her knees, thinking and feeling guilty for it all.

It had grown dark around her and she had gotten used to the familiar sounds of the woods. But suddenly she heard a snap of a twig and then a loud whack, and she knew it wasn't an animal. She hadn't bothered to light her wand, but the sound of a voice confirmed it was someone else, and judging by the words, it was a student as well, who seemed to have gotten hurt. "Who's there?" Beth called out, just as the person lit their wand. The Gryffindor shielded her eyes from the light but squinted in the direction to try and make out the figure.

Her carer, Kyle, would kill her if she got into trouble, and if any of the professors found her it would mean an one way trip to her head of house which would not go down well with him. She’d been relatively well behaved during her two years at hogwarts, not broken any rules, which couldn’t be said for some of the people she lived with, but punishment was the last thing on her mind as she tried to see how bad the wound was. That is until someone called out from the dark.

With her wand raised the light, while luminous, also acted as a barrier rendering her unable to see the other person until she lowered her wand. Relief coursed through her as it turned out to only be another girl she vaguely recognised to be in her year. "Hey um, It's Alina..." she called out feeling stupid for what she was about to say, "What's up?" she didn’t really know the other girl and didn’t know how she’d react if she saw that her leg was slightly bleeding but it seemed an appropriate icebreaker for two young girls meeting at dark in the woods.

Covering her leg up, shrugging her bag back onto her shoulders she stood up. "So what brings you to this neck of the woods?" she smirked, the throbbing pain in her leg easily ignored.
