Rose was a bit nervous. This was her first ever time going to anything like the Yule Ball. There had never been anything like this back at home and she was nervous. She had never worn anything like she was wearing at the moment. Never before had she ever gone to a formal event wearing such a dress. She didn't like dresses in general. She was more of a jeans and t-shirt type of person. She didn't wear much skirts either. This was a whole new ball game, she didn't know much about make up at all. She had never used it before. Lucie had sent her everything she needed and Rose had been practicing so everything didn't end n disaster. She was nervous about going home also. she was dreading seeing her Papa and from Lucie's lack of mentioning how he was doing she was getting more uneasy. She wanted to enjoy tonight. Kyle and she were going as friends. She was glad that she was not going by herself.

After having a shower she put on her dress. She had to admit she did like how she felt in the dress. She liked how she looked too but she wouldn't mention that to anyone. She had had to practice walking in the shoes as she had never worn heels before. She tied her hair up and put on a necklace her mother had owned She then sat down and carefully did her make up. Making sure to not get it on her dress. Once she was finished she looked at herself in the mirror. She had to say she was pleasantly surprised. She looked older and dare she say it,pretty in the dress. Rose looked at herself for a few moments longer and then got out her camera and took some pictures for Lucie. She put the camera in her bag so she could maybe take some during the evening. She wasn't sure what to expect. It had been weird seeing the weather get better as they had gotten closer to Christmas. She nearly always associated Christmas with snow and long evenings by the fire and the evenings getting darker. It was the total opposite here. But when she returned home she would find herself in the depths of winter.

Finally she decided to go and head down to the hall. She fiddled with her bag nervously as she walked into the public. There were lots of people like her. Lovely ladies dressed in beautiful dresses and smart men in suits. She could feel the atmosphere from the Seventh Floor and as she got closer to the Great Hall the atmosphere affected her more and she couldn't help the smile appearing on her face. Maybe this night would be better then Halloween. She was proud of herself for not falling over in her heels. Son she was outside the hall. She and Kyle had agreed to meet here. She was the first to arrive so she waited patiently, watching the couples ,singles and groups pass into the hall.

Kyle had seen pictures of himself dressed in a suit dating back to when he was four years old. He did not fancy wearing suits, dress robes and other formal attire but his father always said he, Kyle, needed to look presentable for the often thrown business parties where he would have to make an appearance so that the news always knew how happy their family was. Their family was happy, Kyle could not deny that but his father always had to travel and hardly spent time with them. Kyle was not someone who liked to display the few moments he spent with his father infront of the press but he did not have many options. However, today was not about his father telling him to suit up. He had to look 'okay' because he was sure all the people who were attending the Yule Ball would be looking their best and Kyle did not want to end up looking very casual. His mother did send him dress robes but Kyle was sure that he would look like a total idiot in them. The robes were expensive and fit him but he was not the person who could wear something like that and look good. He had decided to wear black jeans, a black shirt, a tie and a blazer. He looked at his reflection in the mirror and fixed his hair some more. He would have to say, this time his image looked much better than all those other formal functions and parties he had been to. Maybe because for the first time Kyle was happy and cheerful about something like this.

He walked out of his dormitory hoping that he wasn't late or anything. Normally it was girls who took time to get dressed and Kyle would totally be embarrassed if he had kept Rose waiting. He was glad that he had asked her to go with him as friends. After the Halloween prank, were Kyle and Wes had randomly used Rose to be the subject of their argument, Kyle had thought that one of the two possibilities were most likely to happen. The first one being that Rose would say no to him or the second being that Wes had already asked her to go. Finally when he had managed to ask her, Rose's reply had surprised him. The Halloween feast had been boring and he did not want to spend another event at Hogwarts alone and do something else to have fun. Taking someone friendly and fun as Rose seemed the best option. He wondered how people would think about them going together. As soon as the thought had crossed his mind, he had discarded it. He did not care. He was just twelve after all and he deserved to have some fun. They were finally done with exams and soon they would be having holidays. He did not need to worry about anyone for now.

He finally arrived to the entrance of the Great Hall. He could spot many couples, some single people all lurking around. He scanned the crowd searching for the short girl with long, pretty hair. His brown eyes finally seemed to have found the face that matched Rose's but the height, not so much. He grinned as he quickly noticed that she was looking taller and the cause was her heels. Suddenly, the thought of dancing crossed his mind as he approached her. He had never danced with a girl before that was not his cousin. Kyle knew how to dance thanks to the lessons that his father made sure he had but this real life situation was not something anyone could have prepared him for. It was then that Kyle realized that he felt a little nervous. "Hi" he said with a smile as he was close enough to Rose for her to hear his voice which was filled with excitement. Luckily his nervousness had not reflected in his voice. "You look very pretty, like a model that walks on the ramp in those fashion shows in France" he said complimenting her. Kyle did not know how to identify make up or if it was applied correctly or not, he was a boy and he was twelve. All he knew was that the heels were making Rose look taller and giving her the model look.

Rose hadn't been drawing or playing the piano as much and she wished she did because they always made her feel better but she just couldn't make herself play or draw. When she wold get her notepad and pencil she would just stare at the page. Even when she had something to draw straight in front of her she just couldn't get her hands to move. It was annoying and upsetting because no matter how upset she had been before she had always been able to sketch. This just showed how upset and nervous she was. Her Papa was everything to her, even if he had never showed any sort of affection towards her she still loved him. If she knew that she was really the one causing his depression and the way he was living she knew she would not be able to stay. How could she let her own selfish ways get in the way of hi getting better. Now matter what Lucie said Rose would refuse to go into the house if she knew he was getting better when she wasn't there. She would rather never see him until he was fully better then to be there with him and knowing she was causing all his sadness.

Rose sighed, what was even more upsetting was that she could not play the piano. That was when she felt closest to her Mama and now when she needed her most she couldn't play a thing on the piano. It was like everything was deserting her. The only thing that appeared to have stayed the same were her friends. It was nice to have people who she knew she could count on. Her exam results had been bad,her mind had been so preoccupied with everything else that she had found it hard to study resulting in marks she knew were below her capability. She would try harder next year and get marks she knew she deserved and were of her capability. For now she just had to worry about her Papa and her problem with the piano and drawing. She didn't want to worry about them tonight. She wanted to have fun and not be a spoil sport for Kyle. She had been surprised when he had asked her but she liked the idea of going with a friend. She didn't want to be in the middle of a prank either. If either of those two boys tried anything she would knock both their heads together and not speak to the two for some time. She had over-reacted a tad at Halloween but she had been stressed and she had though Wes had been stabbed. She had been annoyed at the two for ruining her night though admittedly they had made it more exciting.

Since Rose was so small the heels made her around the height of a normal person. It was nice not having to look up at people,it was almost weird being able to look at them straight on. She liked it though, made her feel more equal and less of a disadvantage. She wasn't going to wear heels all the time. She had gotten used to being small and hopefully she would grow eventually. Everyone has a growth spurt and hopefully hers would come soon. Rose smiled when she saw Kyle come towards her. He wasn't wearing the typical suit and tie but he looked suitably smart in it. "Hey "She said smiling. thankfully her previous worries were not showing on her face. She was happy to be here with Kyle and she wanted to enjoy the night. "Merci beaucoup"She said shyly, her head bowing slightly. No one had ever really called her pretty before and it was nice to be complimented but she couldn't help the shyness that came over her. She lifted her head "You look très smart"She said smiling. "I suppose we should go in"She said smiling before turning and walking into the hall. The place looked amazing. It looked beautiful and Rose stopped for a minute taking it all in. "It's amazing"She said to Kyle.

Kieran loved parties, all parties. The gathering of people was hard to ignore, and music was such fun. Kieran was attending the Yule ball with his sister, Kelsey. He hadn't seen her for awhile, but they had decided to write letters to each other in class and they decided to attend the Yule ball in unison. The Slytherin had yet to find his Hufflepuff twin, but he was sure they'd bump into each other soon. The hall was in a grand state, the music made him smile and everyone looked very pretty. Girls were wearing pretty dresses, and some even wore some very tall shoes, something that confused him. Kieran was a small boy, but he couldn't see why people would wear such tall shoes. Surely it was dangerous? Wouldn't they fall down? He shrugged and pulled on his suit slightly, he wasn't used to wearing suits, he was tempted to just show up in pants and a nice shirt, but Kelsey would have told their parents on him and gotten him in trouble, something that wouldn't make him feel very happy.

Some time passed and Kieran was starting to get bored. What was he to do? Surely Kelsey didn't expect him to wait around for the rest of the night until she showed up? With a sigh, the boy walked over to a table full of foods of various kinds, and got a small glass of water to sip on. Looking around at all the wonderful lights and happy faces, Kieran walked closer to the entrance, he would have a better chance of finding Kelsey near there, rather than hoping that she'd find him in the crowd, they were both short, so it wouldn't work like that. Getting distracted, Kieran bumped into someone, nearly spilling his drink, but the Slytherin's quick reflexes made it possible for him to save the drink, and not trip over. With a small, apologetic laugh, Kieran smiled weakly at his victim. "I'm sorry." He said to the girl, looking at the boy that accompanied her. "Hello, I'm Kieran Boneheart." He greeted kindly, his smile full of happiness. Kieran had seen these two before, but he didn't think he had ever found the time to talk to them. He felt a little bad, but it couldn't be helped, they probably weren't in his house, and his first priority was to get to know those in his house first, they would be the people he'd be stuck with for a fairly long time.

Kyle couldn't help but smile as he watched Rose thank him in French and accept his compliment. It did not escape his notice that she had felt shy as he called her 'pretty'. But she had bravely looked up again and told him that he looked very smart. He did not know many girls but what he did know was that many were shy and it was not just a coincidence that Rose had been sorted into Gryffindor, the house were lay the brave at heart. And of course despite of the dislike he had towards his father, he was glad of having been given some good manners. He was not someone who would ask a girl to go to a dance with him and not even compliment her if she looked pretty. Kyle had not done anything different than put on some better clothes but the absence of his usual glasses which were replaced by contact lenses would certainly contribute to him looking smarter, or so he thought. "Thanks" he said with a grin. He could hear someone in the hall, probably a Professor welcoming them. He nodded and walked besides Rose and entered the Great Hall.

He could hear Professor Tayuka as he spoke of no one thinking of putting anything in the drinks. Instantly, the prankster brain of his was racing ahead as he thought of the possibilities if someone did that. However, his more disciplined better half stopped this thoughts as it reminded him that he was with Rose and he was not to spoil the night by planning a prank. Anyway, I'm twelve. That's no age for spiking drinks with alcohol, that is if there was even a small possibility of me getting my hands on some. he thought. Kyle watched the decorations in the Great Hall as Rose spoke about them. He had to agree, people at Hogwarts sure knew how to decorate the castle. The Halloween decorations had been great and so were today's. "Yes, it is" he said as he watched all the decorations that had been put up and that made the place look more beautiful than a five star hotel that was decorated for some wedding.

They were interrupted as someone came and bumped into Rose. Kyle's face went from happy and calm to shock for a mini second as he watched the guy's drink almost spill on Rose. The disaster was however stopped as the boy quickly saved his drink. "Whoa!" he said shooting the guy a look, his eyebrows narrowed as he tried to calm down. "Are you alright?"he asked Rose hoping that the boy bumping into her had not made hurt her. She was after all wearing heels and he did not want her to twist her ankle or something. He looked at the guy as he apologized. Kyle was not someone who got into fights and made a scene so he just introduced himself "I'm Kyle Cavanaugh". There was a lot of hustle and bustle were they were standing and if Rose's dress had been saved so far there was no guarantee that they would receive another bump and the drink would come spilling down. "Would you like to go get something to drink?" he asked, looking at Rose. "Kieran, you'd better come in as well. Going in the direction opposite to the crowd with a drink when everyone's dressed up is not a great idea" he told the boy adding a small smile in the end.

The Hall looked very Christmasy. Whoever had done the decorations had very good taste. It was just as good as the Halloween decorations but for the some reason it just seemed more magical now. There were Christmas Trees and some snow falling. There were icicles and baubles. The atmosphere was nicer here then it had been at Halloween. She soon found herself forgetting about her Papa and looking forward to the night. The atmosphere was infectious and she felt herself feel almost giddy with excitment. Kyle did look different without his glasses. Rose had never needed glasses she doubted she would need them until she got considerably older. She guessed he was wearing contact lenses. How anyone could stick those things onto their eyes was beyond her,she would rather wear glasses then attempt to do that. But the absence of the glasses altered his appearance slightly, not in a bad way. It went with his whole look. It suited him,the way he had no glasses. "No problem"She said smiling once more.

As she entered the hall she saw everyone dancing. The thought of dancing had never occured to her which was stupid since it was a Ball. Her palms started to get sweaty. She hadn't practiced dancing in these shoes. She would probably fall over and embarrass herself in front of everyone. But Rose shook her head ever so slightly, she wasn't going to be nervous about dancing. She would be fine, she would get through it perfectly. Dancing wasn't that much harder then walking. She had done plenty of dancing before. Thankfully her thoughts were more positive now and the thought of dancing in the shoes didn't make her nervous anymore but if anyone asked her she knew she would be unable to stop herself from fretting before she thought positive thoughts. But no one had asked her yet. Kyle hadn't either so she may as well enjoy herself now and not worry about the dancing until she came to it.

Rose was surprised when sh efelt someone bump into her,she almost lost her balance but quickly regained her footing before she fell over and looked like a complete idiot. She seemed to have avoided being covered in the boys drink also which was a plus because she had nothing else to wear and the night would have been pretty much ruined. "Phew, that was close"She said smiling slightly. "Don't worry I'm okay"She said reassuringly to Kyle. She was sturdier then she looked even if she was wearing high shoes. "It's okay"She said to the boy who looked familiar. She was sure she had seen him in classes but she wasn't sure, his name wasn't coming to her. He introduced himself though and the Rose recognized him fully. He was in Slytherin, she was almost sure he had a twin too. "I'm Rose Bellard"She said smiling. Luckily she was not in her usually bad mood because if she had been the same way she was during Halloween she would have totally flipped at poor Kieran. "Sure"She said ,she was glad to have someone else join them. They might even become friends,he seemed nice.

Kieran was relieved at the reactions he got. Some people weren't very comfortable around new people, especially if they were in a conversation. Kieran was rather used to people having mean remarks though, after running into some horrible Slytherin boy, he realised that not everyone was going to be nice and polite. Kieran didn't know the names of the two he bumped into, but if his memory severed him correctly, they were Gryffindors because they were in his Defence Against the Dark Arts class. The girl seemed fine and it was a huge relief. The water would not have stained her dress or anything, but it wouldn't have been fun to walk around with a wet dress, though a spell from any professor or older student would have fixed up the dress within seconds. It was the point of the matter. Admittedly, Kieran wasn't even that worried about the dress, because they could be fixed without any sort of harm to the wearer, but with those tall shoes, she could have broken an ankle from falling over, or worse, but the chances of her being knocked down by Kieran were slim, he wasn't exactly big and strong. That probably saved her. The Slytherin didn't miss the look he received from the boy. He wasn't sure what it meant, but his eyes were narrowed, yet he seemed to not be angry, well, that's what Kieran got from the whole situation.

Introductions were made and it furthered Kieran's knowledge of the two. They were in the same year, so he knew a little bit about them, but not too much. They had really nice names though, Kieran believed that a lot could be told by a name. How a person behaved, where they came from, lots of things. Kyle's suggestion was intelligent, but the further he moved into the hall, the slimmer his chances of finding his sister, but it was a chance he was willing to take. "I agree." He commented, smiling back. Kieran moved further into the Great hall. The décor was still amazing, and more people were in the room now. The Slytherin saw the deputy headmaster, Professor Blaze, and a few other students he knew by face but not by name, which was the case with most. He turned to the others. "The atmosphere is really nice." The feel of the place just made the young boy smile, it was impossible to feel any sort of negative emotion.

Kyle was relieved when Rose assured him that she was okay. Kyle had known about being a wizard his whole life but he did forget that many times like in this moment that had passed. If Rose's dress had become wet with the drink anyone could have used a little magic and it would be dry but of course those kind of things used to skip his mind. Maybe once he actually learned the spell he would remember to use them and not act like a muggle. Kyle walked through the crowd until they reached the table which was on the side of the hall were all the drinks and food had been placed. He was not really hungry at the moment so he scanned the drinks instead. Pumpkin juice was something they drank all the time at Hogwarts and Kyle did not want to have some more pumpkin juice for tonight. He grinned as he spotted a few butterbeers and picked up three bottles, one for each of them. "Have you tried butterbeers before?" he asked them curiously. He knew that not everyone had been raised in a wizarding house hold like himself. They would have stopped in the Three Broomsticks on their trip to the Brightstone village and had some but he had to ask nevertheless. He opened his bottle and sipped the chilled butterbeer. It was nice the way the drink was cold but made you feel warm and alive. He knew there was no alcohol in it because witches and wizards of all ages could drink it and like the Professor had said, no one should be mixing anything in the drinks therefore the possibility of finding any drink having alcohol did not exist.

He looked at the boy they had just introduced themselves too. His face was familiar and Kyle remembered him from Defence Against the Dark Arts class that meant he was in Slytherin. He seemed nice enough and Kyle didn't mind if he hung out with them. "Were you searching for someone back there?"he asked Kieran wondering if the boy had been waiting for whoever it was that he was attending the ball with. Kyle could spot a few other first years around including Indiana whom he easily recognized. He had not seen Tybalt Archer whom he thought would be attending with Indiana. Maybe his dorm-mate had been busy with something. Kyle had been very busy with the tests and everything he had hardly got the chance to have a decent talk with Tybalt for some days now. Maybe they could go say hi to Indiana later, or perhaps she would come say hi to them. Thinking of the other familiar faces in the crowd, Kyle realized that he had not seen Wes so far who had been his partner in crime on Halloween. It would be dull if he missed the Yule Ball because he was fun to be with.

Kyle took another sip of his butter beer as he watched some people who had started dancing. Slow music was playing and Kyle was not familiar with the song but it had a nice tune. Kyle liked listening to music but he did not have any favorite wizarding bands. In fact he thought that music could not be divided between muggles and wizards and he liked a lot of muggle singers and the songs they sang. He wondered if any of them would be played here tonight. Suddenly Kyle realized how little he knew about music, singers and musicians in wizarding world. No one could say that he had grown up between wizards. "Do you have any favourite type of music or singer?" he asked the two people wondering what their views were on the subject. Kyle liked listening to pop and country music, jazz which his father liked was so not his taste. For dancing Kyle preferred fast tracks but slow songs were okay too, just not that fun.

Rose was glad she had not fallen as a twisted ankle would not be nice. She wouldn't be able to enjoy the rest of the night either which would have been a disaster as she would have been left hours to think about the trip home tomorrow, where all would be revealed. Rose was dreading it. She was nearly constantly feeling heaving, like she was dragging a whole bag of weights behind her. It was dragging her mood down and she found it hard to sleep at night. When she did get sleep she woke up from horrible nightmares. The problem was she could never remember what the nightmare was about she just remembered how she had felt. She had felt pure fear, something she had never experienced in real life before. She had felt nothing but terror. She had wanted to get out and that was usually when she woke from her nightmare. She could never remember anything else which was frustrating because she wanted to know what had made her so frightened. She had an uneasy feeling that it had something to do with her Papa but why she would feel such fear around him was beyond her because he had never shown any emotion but sadness towards her. Rose shook her head realizing she had zoned out for a bit. The two boys had already walked ahead of her and Rose cursed herself for letting her mind wander.

She quickly caught up with the two hoping they hadn't noticed. "Nope,I've never had it"She sad eyeing the drink suspiciously. She had heard of Butterbeer. She had never tasted it though and Rose was not very open to trying knew foods or beverages but she had never heard a bad word against butterbeer so for the moment she was deeming it okay to drink. She hoped she didn't regret her decision. She took one from Kyle and said thank you. She slowly put the glass to her lips and took a sup. Immediately she had some more. "C'est magnificant!"She said smiling and taking some more. It really was magnificent, delicious too. Rose knew she had seen Kieran before. He looked sweet and he seemed nice too. Some people would have just walked away after their incident a moment ago but he had stopped and apologized, even managed to keep her dress from getting wet. That put him in her good books and she hoped he stayed there because she would like to make a new friend. Rose had seen various other first years around the hall. She had smiled and given them a small wave. She had seen first years that she had never spoken to either, some she would not get on with. She tried to keep away from those people as she didn't want her temper to get the better of her.

There was lots of different types of music being played. A lot was slow. Rose wished she could play her piano. She knew some pieces that would get people into the romantic mood but not everyone would like that as there were plenty of singles here and groups that wouldn't exactly appreciate a romantic song as much as couples. The musicians were very good though, her musical ear could find no fault in their playing and Rose was glad because listening to out of tune violinists or any sort of instrument was painful for people like her. She had a sensitive ear and found it easy to find faults in people's playing but she tended not to say anything in case they were offended but sometimes she couldn't help herself and she almost ended up screaming at them to shut up and to play in tune. Thankfully that had never happened often before. Rose finished off her butterbeer and left the empty glass on the table "I love classical music"Rose said smiling "I like any type of music really except any sort of rap or anything along those lines. I listen to pretty much everything else"She said smiling at the two boys.

The crowd was large, but quite moveable. The people seemed too concerned with dancing and trying to have a good time, they barely gave the group two looks. Kieran clutched his water carefully to ensure that nothing happened to it. When they reached their destination, the blonde stopped and looked around again, still trying to fully acknowledge his surroundings. It was just so different to what he was used to. Kieran looked at Kyle and shook his head. Although Kieran's family were magical, and he had been brought up that way, butterbeer had never been on his diet. In fact, his parents were quite against it. "I'm not allowed to drink butterbeer." He explained politely, putting the drink down and watching Rose's reaction. She seemed to like it a great deal, and he smiled. The smell of the beverage told him that he'd most likely love it, but his upbringing told him that if his mouth touched that drink, his parents would murder him. It might take them awhile to realise, but someday he'd slip up and accidentally tell them that he drank it. Kyle seemed to like the drink a great deal, and Kieran simply sipped some of his water. When he was younger he used to feel a little left out, but he was a little older now, and was used to not eating the same things as other kids, it was just his upbringing.

Even though Kieran didn't exactly know his company as well as he would like to, he was enjoying himself a great deal, considering he hadn't been here for an extended period of time. The Yule ball was growing on him, and he was grateful that Kelsey had convinced him to come in the first place, since he'd had his honest doubts about whether he'd actually enjoy himself. Kieran looked up when Kyle addressed him, and nodded in response. "Yes." He replied, sipping his water. "My sister, Kelsey. She's in Hufflepuff and I fear I've sort of lost her." He added, taking one last look around before shrugging. He'd find Kelsey someday, it wasn't like she'd disappeared off of the face of the Earth. "She'll find me eventually. She always does." He added. Kelsey had a knack, she'd always manage to find him, whenever they played hide-and-seek, she'd always manage to find him, while he'd be wondering around for ages trying to find her.

Kieran quickly realised that Kyle seemed to be a very good conversation holder, it was pretty cool. Kieran thought about Kyle's question for a moment. Kieran loved music, but it was difficult to label what sort of music he listened to most, it was difficult. Weird Sisters, although a rather old band, were a favourite, mostly because his mother was a massive fan when she was younger and it sort of managed to be shared by Kieran. She was always playing the tracks and humming the tunes, so Kieran grew up with them in a way. Kieran shrugged, but nodded to what Rose said, he totally agreed. "I like classical. But there's an old band - Weird Sisters, they're more of a wizard rock. I like them, though admittedly I'm pretty much a whole generation behind everyone else." He said, giggling quietly. Kieran wasn't exactly ashamed at knowing bands that peoples parents and sometimes grandparents would have listened to. There were some truly amazing bands in the Olden days. "Do any of you play an instrument?" He asked, excitment showing in his voice. Kieran wasn't exactly musical. The only instrument he knew to play was the triangle, and he was quite proud of that.

Kyle liked the way their conversation was going. Most people would not be nice and friendly with new people but Kieran was easily chatting with them and Kyle could see him as a potential friend. He only knew one more Slytherin other than Kieran and so far the boys of Slytherin house were turning out to be pretty cool. He sipped his butterbeer some more before he was done and put the bottle aside. He grinned as he watched Rose have her first sip of the drink. He was glad she liked it. Everyone he knew, all his cousins that were underage loved butterbeer and Kyle had not been allowed to drink it until he was ten, although he couldn't figure out why. He was a little surprised to hear when Kieran said that he was not allowed to have butterbeer. Kyle could see that Kieran's family had some rules set for the boy and he seemed to be following them very nicely. Had it been Kyle who was not suppose to have butterbeer for another year when all his friends enjoyed the warm drink he wouldn't have given a second thought before he broke some rules and tasted the drink for himself. "I too was not allowed to drink it until last year" he told Kieran with a smile. He wanted the Slytherin boy to know that he, Kyle did not find this weird. He could think of some people who would make fun of Kieran for being a good-boy and all but Kyle was not one of them. "This restaurant called the Three Broomsticks in Brightstone village serves butterbeer. I suppose Hogwarts buy it from them. I have never been there though. Maybe we could go when we go for our trip to the village" he told his friends about what he had read in one of the newspapers that was locally published in New Zealand. His parents had told him about their visits to a local wizarding village near their Hogwarts and he wondered if the all the butterbeer sold in the world had the same taste.

Kyle remembered a girl named Kelsey from one of his classes and as made a reference to Hufflepuff the face of the girl in his head got more clear. "Are you guys twins?"he asked Kieran excitedly but he already knew the answer to that. The idea of having a twin made Kyle so excited. He did not care whether twins were identical or fraternal but being able to share everything with your sibling who is of your same age was just something very magical to Kyle. Being an only child, Kyle always craved for company of siblings and at a point it could be said that he could envy Kieran for having a twin. Kyle did have many cousins but it was different. Kyle smiled as Kieran said that Kelsey always found him. The sentence made more sense as the two were twins. He was sure there was some magic in how twins were connected. Siblings too were connected many times having the same choice of food, music and books so being twins would just deepen that connection. "Is having a twin cool?" he asked Kieran wondering what his opinion was about having given this magical gift. "Was it weird for you to be sorted into different houses?"he asked more curiously.

The track changed and the song that was now being played was a fast number. Kyle had not heard this one too and he made a note in his head to listen to wizarding bands too. He didn't want to feel like a stranger to every popular song that was going to be played. "I like pop and country but classical's cool too"he said with a smile as he noticed that both Rose and Kieran liked classical music. As Kieran told them about this wizarding band, Kyle wrecked his brains as he tried to remember something. He knew he had heard one of the songs by this band. His parents usually talked about the songs or played their songs. It had never occurred to Kyle that this band was actually a wizarding band. And of course it was a generation ago so it was not like one could just expect him to have seen them in the daily prophet after he was born. "My parents like that band too!" he told Kieran. There was one thing that Kyle had failed at so far was learning how to play a musical instrument. "I've done some piano lessons but I suck at it so far. Always mess up the keys" he explained. Well he knew other things like very good swimming and horse riding and Qudditch of course. Maybe he would eventually learn to play the piano as well.

Suddenly a song started playing and Kyle grinned as he recognized the song instantly "This Is the Night! Its by the Weird Sisters, isn't it?" he asked Kieran to confirm. "I never knew this band was a wizarding one" he told the two the reason for him acting a little crazy and excited about this. This song was nice and had a fast tune to it. "You guys want to dance?"he asked them. Well it was a fast song and they all could dance together. He knew Rose, she wouldn't get mad for him not asking her to dance with him alone. She wouldn't want Kieran to be left alone. And once Kelsey came then Rose and him could dance on a few slow songs too.

Where Rose was from there had never really been a lot of people in one place. the community ad been close but the community itself had been quite small. Many people commuted to work from their growing village into Nantes. More people were building houses and their village was loosing its soul which was quite sad because the people who had lived their for a few generations were a close knit community. But Rose had never really been in big crowds like this before. Her first encounter was when she had first come to the school and she had entered the hall and had seen everyone together. Never before had she seen so many people together in the one room. It had been amazing. It was different when all those people were now moving around and dancing. It made things a bit more awkward as every now and again you felt someone bump into you. Even with her heels she was still small and some girls that were taller then her with heels now towered above her once more in their own heels which made it just that little bit uncomfortable. But then maybe she just wasn't used to being stuck in one room with so many people. She was enjoying herself though. Kieran was chatting easily to them and thankfully the conversation was not filled with awkward silences that she would be rushing to fill as she is not a fan of them. Rose really didn't think much of the fact that Kieran wasn't allowed have butterbeer. She was almost slightly jealous that he had parents that cared for him. Some people didn't realize how lucky they are until it's too late. In Rose's case she didn't even get a chance which was why it frustrated her when people constantly complained about perfectly loving parents.

Rose didn't say anything about herself and butterbeer. Of course her father had never said anything about butterbeer, she had never even heard of it until today. It was annoying not knowing anything about magical life. She should had grown up with a magical backround. Her Papa was a wizard but she had grown up like a muggle which she didn't mind. It was just a bit embarrassing being a half-blood and having no clue what anyone else was about and she could always sense the confusing looks when she asked what the hell some of her friends were talking about. "That sounds nice"She said smiling and taking another sip of her butterbeer which was warming her up nicely. Rose knew Kesley somewhat. They were in some class together. She seemed really sweet. She hadn't know she was a twin though. She wondered if it was weird having a twin in a different house. She herself would never know. She would never have any siblings either. As a child she had been quite lonely when at home because she had no one to play with or mess around with. She would love to have a brother or sister. She would take care of them and teach them things and play with them and love them. She would never leave them out in the cold or not love them because they look like someone. They would be her present and future. Sadly the other person would be in the past and there was nothing she would be able to do about it except move on and don't hang back. It's a hard thing to do but not impossible.

Kyle was asking all the questions Rose would ask so she just stood in between the two, sipping her butterbeer every so often waiting for the chance to speak and listen to Kieran's answers. Soon the music picked up tempo and Rose found her foot tapping the beat. She didn't know the song but a lot of the more modern songs can be quite predictable so she found herself humming along with the tune,it was also repetitive which made it easier. Amazingly Rose actually knew what Kieran was talking about. She had found posters at home, her Papa must have liked them. He had had a few CDs also. Rose wasn't a big fan. She had had much to go from, other then her poster and two CDs. She had put the CDs on periodically and she had sung along even learning different parents on the piano. Rose didn't listen to much country, it wasn't that she didn't like it it was just classical music and pop were the two genres she liked playing the most on her piano and she tended to listen to the music she liked playing the most. "I've listened to a few of their CDs. I don't know much about them though"She said smiling at the two_Of course Rose played the piano, it was one thing she didn't tend to say to people unless they asked. When she played the piano she never played for anyone but herself and her Mama. It was her private hobby. "Well I play the piano, I've been playing since I was around...am I think three or four"Rose said screwing up her face trying to think of when exactly she started playing the piano. All she knew was that she had been young. She had been upset one day and she had been too young to understand why her Papa would never hug her or look at her and she had happened to go to the piano. She had begun hitting the keys in frustration but then she started making nice sounds and things had progressed from there. "Do you play anything?"She asked Kieran curiously. When Kyle said he had taken lessons but messed things up she bit her lip. She could easily teach him, she knew she was better then some adult teachers , she never played for anyone though but then again she might not have to play for him. It was something she would mull over for a few days.

Rose didn't remember this song. It hadn't been on one of her CDs but she found herself tapping away anyways. Rose giggled at Kyle's excitement. She was feeling hyped up herself and she felt herself itching to dance. She wasn't sure of it would be controlled dancing. She could easily get carried away and that could turn out badly with these shoes on. "I don't mind"She said smiling, if Kieran didn't want to she didn't want to leave him alone but then again she didn't want to abandon Kyle either. The two had come together and that would be unfair and rude to put someone she didn't know very well over a pretty good friend.

Kieran nodded. To him, not drinking butterbeer was a normal thing. No-one in his household drank butterbeer except his father, but that was on very rare occasions. Kieran guessed that it was because he told Kieran and Kelsey that they weren't allowed to drink it and he didn't want to break his own rule. Luckily, Kieran wasn't exactly one to hold a grudge, he could go on his merry way without ever having a sip of butterbeer, water did him just fine. Sometimes he'd be allowed to have fizzy drinks, but that was very rare, especially since he tended to get really, really hyper when he drank fizzy drinks. Would that happen if he drank butterbeer? Just smelling it got him excited and bubbly inside, maybe that was why he wasn't allow to drink it. It was nice to see that Kyle didn't think him weird, and Rose didn't seem to think it too strange either. Some questioned why he'd listen to his parents now, they were at a great distance, in fact, they were back in Manchester, all the way in England. But Kieran's parents had a lot of trust in him and Kelsey, and the last thing either of them wanted to do was give them a reason to not trust them, they both held far too much respect for their parents, and they were pretty scary too. "I'm not really interested in drinking it, to be honest. I like my water, it's so refreshing." He explained with a small shrug. Kyle went on to talk about the Three Broomsticks. Kieran had never been there, but he had seen the one in Hogsmeade, he wasn't aware that there was one in New Zealand, that was amazing. "I didn't know there was one. I think I better brush up on my geography." He commented, smiling slightly. "But I think it sounds fantastic, we should all go!" He added, already starting to plan the perfect time and whether it'd be possible.

Kieran giggled slightly when Kyle asked a pretty obvious question. Honestly, Kieran didn't really think they looked alike at all, but others thought that they seemed quite similar and it was easy to tell that they were siblings. Kyle seemed pretty excited by it too, something that Kieran wasn't entirely used to. "Yes, we're twins, but not identical, that'd be so weird." The Slytherin rarely announced that he had a twin, because he didn't really see the huge deal in it. He had a sibling. Lots of people had siblings, it's just that they didn't usually share the same birthday, but it was still the same thing, in essence. It was nice to know that he'd have Kelsey in his year and his age until both their deaths. Unfortunately, upon attending Hogwarts New Zealand they were split, for the very first time. Their bedrooms at home were connected by a bathroom even, so it was strange having a totally different uniform and sleeping quarters. They'd probably have totally different friends too, it made him feel horrible to know that they might grow apart. Kyle's second question was answered with a nod, Kieran wasn't sure what he'd do without Kelsey, he'd be so lonely. "Actually, when we got sorted, I nearly cried." He admitted. "Especially since we're at such a distance, we're not even in the same classes together. It's strange." Kieran smiled over at Rose, she was pretty quiet, it was weird because Kieran wasn't used to quiet people. Everyone should be loud! "What about you two, do you have any siblings?" He asked. In all honesty, Kieran was expecting them to have siblings, because in his world, everyone should have siblings.

Kieran's ears noticed the track change and he smiled, it was a far more fun song now. "I like some pop music, though sometimes I get confused about what pop is and when it turns into pop rock, and all of that." Kieran liked music, but genres confused him, it was impossible to keep track of all the various things songs could be classified under. "My mum goes on about how amazing their songs are and everything." He explained, it was not extremely surprising to find that Rose's and Kyle's parents knew of the band, by what his mother and father and various aunts and uncles said, they were massive in their day. Kieran looked at Kyle. "Don't worry. I'm horrible at piano, there's so many keys and all the little note things look strange." Kieran wasn't a musician, though he was pretty good at holding a tune, and playing the triangle. Kieran loved the triangle. When Rose said that she could play, Kieran's face brightened with shock. Playing an instrument was epic in the Slytherin's eyes, if he actually had a small ounce of talent in that field, he'd be playing an instrument twenty-four-seven. "You play the piano? That's amazing!" Music was something that was golden in the Boneheart household. When he was asked whether he played an instrument, he shrugged. "I'm pretty bad at playing instruments. I've only ever played the triangle. I think I'm pretty good." Kieran was obviously being sarcastic. It was somewhat difficult to play the triangle, no matter what people said, but it was also pretty silly to play it as much as Kieran did.

Kieran recognised the song immediately, and was about to say its name, but Kyle bet him to it. He nodded and looked at Rose who seemed to be enjoying the too. "I don't really know what's muggle and what isn't. It all seems pretty much the same, though some things I don't understand." Sometimes on the subject of muggles, Kieran felt pretty dumb, because he didn't know much about them and it made him feel more naive than he already was. Kieran once again looked at Rose. It didn't take much for him to realise that they had come to the Yule ball together, they probably didn't even think that they'd run into him. In fact, they probably wouldn't have taken any notice of him, except for the fact that he'd ran into Rose. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin the night for them, but Rose didn't seem to mind him tagging along, so he smiled. "I'd love to." He agreed, finding his way through thw crowd and waiting for the other two.

Kyle listened to the Kieran as he explained how he was not intrested in drinking butterbeer. Well, Kyle could not blame him. Not everyone was the same and he respected people and their views about things. "I've never been to the wizarding village near London though I have heard from my parents its pretty cool. I came to know about Brighstone just when I came to New Zealand this year" he told the too. They did not have to think Kyle was a know it all. At many things he was pretty new and some he did not know at all like cooking and playing the piano. He had learned Georaphy back at home but it was just like muggle geography and no one had told him about wizrding societies and villages. Kyle smiled as Kieran sounded excited about the wizarding village just as much as he was when he had first heard about it.

It did not escape Kyle's notice that Rose was quieter than usual. He wondered what the reason was but could not come up with a conclusion. Maybe she was not used to going to parties and dances with so many people. Kyle smiled as Kieran told him that he nearly cried when they were sorted into different houses. Kyle would have been surprised if Kieran had said differnt houses made no difference. Being parted from a twin was obviously something that he expected anyone who had a twin, to be sad about otherwise they would just be mean people. "I don't have a sibling" Kyle said a little sadly. He didn't remember Rose saying anything about having a sibling either. "You're very lucky" he told Kieran, not smiling this time because he meant this very seriously.

When Rose mentioned that she had been playing the piano since she was three Kyle was amazed because apparently Rose knew to do all the things that Kyle did not and obviously he expected to her to know cool additional things too. She had taught him how to bake chocolate muffins and he had loved the recipe and had written it down for future use. He wondered if he would ever get hold of a piano in Hogwarts and convince Rose to teach him that too. "Wow. You two are talented" he said with a smile as Kieran said he played the traingle. Kyle had never played any musical instrument and he had not met anyone who played the traingle so all this was very new and exciting for him. Kyle was pleased to hear that Kieran too was confused between what was muggle and wizarding. He was under the impression that he was the only mixed blood person who would easily pass as a muggle. He grinned as Kieran and Rose agreed to dance.

Kyle took Rose hands into his and lead the way to the dance floor smiling at her as he asked in a whisper "You okay?" As they made their way to the crowd and reached somewhere which he thought was the centre of the dance floor he sang along the song "When all is dark and there’s no light Lost in the deepest star of night I see you". Kyle was not very much out of tune and his voice with his british accent was not of a singer but it was not bad either. He started dancing, doing this move which was one of his favorite. He put one of his hand down and then diagonally up to the other side just like a disco dance move. And then he shifted to his other hand grinning as he watched his friends all dancing to the fast tune of the song.He said to Rose"You're a great dancer. How did you learn to dance?" Kyle had done classes or learnt many things and luckily dancing was one of them but he had been taught to slow dance in ballroom, salsa style. Disco style dancing was not something his father thought he would require classes to learn and he had been right.

Pip was very excited for the ball, that she had completely forgotten to actually get down to the Great Hall. She shook her head and quickly grabbed her bag and headed down to the Great Hall. She liked her dress and she just knew that she was going to have to find Kieran. Truth be told, Pip didn't really want to wear this particular dress, but seeing that she would soon be seeing Kieran, he would likely tell on her, so she saw it as a need. She continued down from the stairs to the great hall and proceeded to try and find her beloved brother. She knew it wasn't going to be too hard. She had a knack for these things. She always seemed to be able to find him. Unfortunately when they were playing Hide-and-seek, she wold be sitting there for ever. She smiled as she thought about it. Heading into the Great Hall and seeing all of the people around, Pip frowned, it was going to be a little difficult to find Kieran in this huge expansive room. She decided to start over near the food table. It was a good start and she knew that he sometimes would like to get some water. However as she got there and looked around, she noticed that Kieran was not there. She sighed and grabbed herself a glass of water. Even though there were some many other things on the table she could have had. Kieran and Pip were from a family of health freaks. She took a sip of her water and continued her search. The next place she decided to check was pretty good guess.

She smiled and waved happily to her twin and she walked over to him. He was speaking to two others that she had seen vaguely in her classes. It was a good thing that she was good with names. She remembered Kyle from Charms class. Something important to him was friendship. Rose she knew from Charms as well. There were others, but she remembered Charms especially. She smiled and stepped next to her brother, squeezing his arm in greeting. "Hello all. Kyle, Rose. It's a pleasant surprise to see you both here." She told them, she wondered if they remembered her name. She decided to remind them just in case. "I'm Kelsey, also known as Pip. In case you have forgotten." She said. She noticed that they seemed to be about to do something. Dancing? Pip smiled, she loved dancing. "Are you guys going Dancing? Oh! Kieran! Can we? Please, can we?!" She asked excitedly pulling on her brothers hand. She loved dancing. It was her thing.

Rose's foot was tapping along with the song. She now knew most of the song off by heart.Modern songs were written to be remembered. They wanted them to be catchy so more people would listen to them. It's how they got popular and rose on the charts.Well that was Rose's view on it anyway. Rose wasn't complaining, she loved listening to music. It was one of her favorite things to do. When she went to bed she listened to her iPod which she sadly couldn't use in Hogwarts due to the whole electrical thing so she had had to make do with falling asleep with out music since entering Hogwarts but she didn't mind. She had gotten used to it and usually she had been so tired from the day that she had fallen asleep the minute her head had lay down on the pillow. Rose nodded, water was refreshing she loved drinking it too "Same, I mostly drink just water"She said smiling. She had never been to a wizard village before Brightstone but that was more a town. It was the first ever magical place she had been. She thought it was amazing. She had looked around everywhere in wonder. She must have looked like an idiot and everyone had probably known that that had been her first time in a place like Brightstone. "that's a good idea"She said agreeing with Kieran, she would love to go and it would be great to go with some friends.

Kieran was so lucky to have a twin. He probably had a great bond with his sister and he probably never felt lonely. It must be amazing having someone you can share all your secrets with and have a special sort of bond with. Twins were funny that way. Weird connections and stuff like that. Rose was half tempted to ask Kieran did any of those weird things happen but Rose decided she did not know him well enough to ask. He had after all said that his sister usually always found him which could have something to do with or maybe it was just the fact that they were sibling. "I'm a only child too"She said also a bit sadly. She had always wanted a brother or sister she would still love one but that was probably never going to happen. Her Mother was dead and her father was depressed, not much hope there but Rose had gotten used to the idea and had accepted the fact that she was always going to be an only child. Besides she had some good friends now who filled up most of that gap. Rose could understand why he would nearly cry. To suddenly be separated from someone you have been beside since you were born must be hard. "Ye'll be back together for the holidays though"Rose said on a more happier note. At least he would be able to be close to her again, Kyle or herself wouldn't be able to be close to a sibling because they had none. This was why Kieran was lucky no matter how far apart the two got in school they would still be close at home.

Rose smiled, she never got into the whole genre thing. There were too many variations. She just liked this song, it didn't really matter what genre it was. If she thought it was catchy and a good song she would probably like it and listen to it a lot. She didn't care what type it was though usually most of the songs she liked were just in general pop songs, she didn't narrow it down after that. "I like their songs, though I've only heard a few"Rose said finishing off her butterbeer. She really had enjoyed the drink though she didn't want anymore for a while at least. She would actually prefer a class of water but she wasn't that thirsty at the moment. Rose giggled as Kieran talked about the keys. She didn't think they looked strange, she understood them too. Reading music for her was liking reading a book for any normal person. It just comes to her naturally and with practice she has improved. She was surprised by their reactions when she told them she played the piano. To be honest she hadn't expected much of a reaction. "Yeah"Rose said smiling shyly at the two. She was embarrassed now but she kept her head held high and smiled at the two boys "It's my favorite thing to do, I just sit down and play the piano for whatever length of time"She said. She smiled when Kieran said he played the triangle. You had to be good at counting for that instrument. It took a lot of concentration because a triangle may be in once or twice during the whole piece so you should make sure that you do come in on time and you play it right and with gusto. "People shouldn't underestimate the triangle"Rose said grinning.

Rose smiled, glad Kieran wanted ti dance too. She followed Kyle, her hand in his which was the only thing stopping them being separated because of the mass of people on the dance floor. "I'm fine"She said smiling, indifference in her voice, she didn't want anyone worrying about her especially not herself. Once they were more or less in the center, the three of them stopped and started dancing. Rose didn't mind dancing. She had done plenty of it before, she had never got lessons she just danced.Even if she was a bad dancer she would still go out and dance. She bet she would have fun no matter how good or bad a dancer she was and as long as she was having fun who cares if she looked a small bit ridiculous dancing. Thankfully Rose was naturally good. She started singing along with the lyrics. Rose was very musical her voice was in tune and it was clear and a nice voice. Lucie had said she had gotten all her musical talents including her voice from her Mama. Rose laughed at Kyle's dance move, it was an old one from the times of the disco. "I never learned I always just danced"She said, she had to raise her voice so she could be heard over the loud music. "Did the two or ye ever have lessons?"She asked curiously between singing the song.

Kieran was reallyy starting to enjoy the night, and that rarely happened such a short time into it. The Slytherin couldn't believe his luck, it could have been a horrible night if Rose and Kyle had first yelled and gotten angry at him when they first met. If that had of happened, there could have been a fight. It would have been horrible. Kieran nodded in understanding. London was a fine place, he loved it whenever they went on short holidays there, before he started attending Hogwarts. But he was sure that he could never live there, he'd miss his family far too much. It would be a great day if they all decided to go to Brightstone one time, it'd be exciting and fun, he was sure of it and Kelsey could come too and thye could have a spectacular time together. Kieran agreed with Rose. Water was so much healthier than any other drink, and he was quite sure Rose would know that. Not many people give water enough credit. The subject of brightstone never left Kieran's thoughts though. "Maybe sometime on Brightstone weekend we can all go." He mused happily.

Kieran was absolutely shocked to hear that Kyle was an only child, and then Rose told him that she was an only child too. He was sure that he looked like someone had just slapped him. It was so shocking! Kieran couldn't imagine being happy as an only child, his parents usually allowed Kelsey and him to go do their own thing, occasionally stopping them from doing anything crazy. But if he didn't have Kelsey, he'd be so lonely. Kieran's child mind soon came up with an outrageous, seemingly insane solution, but to him it was quite reasonable. "You should adopt each other!" He exclaimed. "You're both in Gryffindor, you're both in First year, and you have brown hair... it's perfect!" Even Kieran and Kelsey weren't in the same house and they were twins, so Kyle and Rose could adopt each other and be pretend twins. "And you have four letters in each of your first names... the only difference is your last names. But that can be fixed." If they really felt alone, they could just be together, then they're not alone. It all made sense to the blonde, everything had a solution, and this was his solution to their lack of twin-ness. "So now you don't have to be alone all the time, you can be together. Bonded forever." He added, taking another sip of his water and smiling at rose for her kind words.

Kieran snickered quietly. It was only the triangle, but it was fun to play. Especially when he would climb into his fathers office and start playing it, this would usually end in his father getting quite cross, but it was all fun and games. "Thankyou Kyle." He said, smiling. Kieran didn't understand why Rose was so embarrassed, well, she looked embarrassed. Kieran could understand how Rose could just sit down and play for ages, piano looked like a lot of fun, if he could understand it a little better, but it was nearly impossible for him. He laughed and nodded, once again in total agreement with Rose. "Yes, they don't give the triangle enough credit." Not that the triangle was the most exciting instrument on the planet, it could be fun too. But he was confident that the piano was five times more fun and interesting than playing the triangle. Even the name was more interesting than the triangles, but he didn't really mind. Only petty people complained and went on about various instruments being stupid and stuff like that. At the end of the day, they all made wonderful music, if played well.

Kieran looked over to his right when he heard something and a bright smile showed on his face. There was Kelsey coming over to them and being all happy as usual. She squeezed his arm and Kieran nodded in greeting. "Kelsey!" He felt far better now that his sister was with him, everything felt natural now, except for the fact that Kelsey was far taller than him at this moment in time, but that was because of her shoes. Unlike his sister, Kieran couldn't wear super tall shoes because he was a boy and they looked so uncomfortable, he was sure he'd fall flat on his bottom if he even considered wearing one. When Kelsey realised that they were going to dance, Kieran braced himself for what was going to happen, because he knew how much Kelsey loved dancing, and he knew that his arm was going to suffer. "Oh, Kelsey, you're tearing my arm off." He stated, giggling slightly at her enthusiasm. He smiled at Kyle and Rose as they went off, and Kieran led Kelsey to the dance floor, they were close to Rose and Kyle, but not too much, he wanted to give them there space, but if they wanted to chat, they easily could. "So Kelsey, why were you so late in finding me?" He questioned. It was a little out of character for her.

Kyle had been very excited and a little nervous about tonight but now all his nervousness was fading thanks to Rose and Kieran being nice and chatting with him. Kyle smiled as Rose told Kieran that he would be able to be with Kelsey during the holidays. He thought about his holidays, well he would be happy to see his parents and maybe some of his cousins if they were visiting London but on the whole it would be boring compared to the holidays of many of his classmates who had siblings. He could think of all the things they could do together like play games and all. He was a little surprised to hear Kieran's suggestion for their lack of having twins and siblings. He laughed, finding the idea both amusing and yet agreeable. "We both sure do have brown hair!" he said with a grin looking at Rose and winking. He did not know much about Rose's parents except for the part that they were in French and lived in Nantes. "I suppose I will have to come to Nantes and convince your parents to let me adopt you and the other way round" he said excitedly. He did not know why but he had a feeling that if he suggested this idea to his father, of adopting someone to have a sibling, his father would not be very happy about it. He did not care because at the moment he was considering all the possibilities of things he could do with Rose if they became twins. "You know, we could go to Paris together!"he said and giggled excitedly. "And you can come to Cavanaugh estates all the time" he added looking at Rose to see if she too was excited about this idea.Who needed to be blood related to be the best siblings. Merlin knew that many times siblings even killed for money and power. He did not want to be such a brother!

They were on the dance floor, dancing to the song as they continued chatting about the musical instruments. Kyle did not have much to say about them as he knew very little about them but he was simply excited to have friends who were talented. "Who taught you how to play the piano? Was it your mum" he asked Rose curiously. Kyle knew that not all people had to get lessons to learn things, most people were just taught by their gifted parents. He could see his mom teaching him how to cook if he asked her to but his father would never have the time. He had only gone horse riding with his father after he knew how to ride a horse from his trainer. Just as he asked this question, a familiar looking girl showed up and as she addressed Kieran, Kyle knew that this was Kieran's twin, Kelsey. He smiled at her as she introduced herself in case they had forgotten. "Hi Kelsey, Kieran's been talking about you. I doubt we would be able to forget you even if we wanted to" he joked then laughed at his own joke, which he did alot and many people found it weird but he didn't care.It was fun and he was only twelve.

He watched as Kelsey took hold of Kieran's hand and started dancing with him right beside where he and Rose were dancing. He heard her reply and was relieved a little. He continued dancing with her, now doing a different move moving his arms by his side, in and out, clapping them and rolling them around each other. "My dad had me taken dance lessons when I was eight until I was ten" he told Rose, a little embarrassed because he was a boy living in 2031 and not many boys were told to taken dance lessons by their fathers. His cheeks turned red as he tried to stop them from becoming so but it was no use. "My dad makes me learn a lot of stuff" he explained Rose. The song track changed and now it was playing another song. This one Kyle had heard too! It was back from the 1990's a long time before he was born but he knew it had been a big hit. "Have you heard this song?" he asked Rose curiously. It was the Macarena, a spanish song which had some dance moves that many people around him seemed to be knowing to his surprise. He knew them too so he was hoping Rose would too. Kyle did not know what the song meant but it was very catchy and the dance moves were really easy.

Pip was really getting to like this dance. She had always liked dancing and she was pretty good at it. Things were good for them. She and Kieran hadn't seen each other in a while, but that was okay, they wrote letters to each other, though considering that Kieran was in the Slytherin common room it made things alittle difficult. She wasn't even completely sure that the common room even had windows. She had neglected to ask. But not to worry. It would soon be answered. Just after she asked. She smiled at Kyle and waved the comment of with a flash of her hand. Interesting theory anyway. Though she did like that Kieran had been talking about her. As she had been about him, to her new friend Ferdinand. He was really nice and he was in Ravenclaw. She quite liked blue. "Nah, don't worry about it Kyle. It is quite hard to forget us. We are both quite outgoing. You should see us at Quidditch Matches. I mean seriously." She told him, shaking her head and laughing along with Kyle. She was going to like him. She could tell. Rose seemed alittle quiet, but that wasn't too bad either. She seemed nice though, and she was getting on seemingly well with Kieran, so that meant that Pip would like her.

Pip laughed at Kieran as she rubbed his arm. She was definitely sorry about ripping his arm off. She loved him. She liked his arm where it is. It didn't need to be anywhere else. She pouted slightly and rubbed her neck. "Uh, yeah. Sorry Kieran. You know I didn't mean it, right?" She asked as she followed him onto the dance floor and matched him step for step. Pip was the type of girl who would marry dancing if it could say 'I do'. Kieran wasn't as in love with dancing as Pip, but he did like it. When they were toddlers, their mother had insisted that they learn to dance. So they had received professional dance lessons in all types of dance. Ballroom, Punk, Hip Hop. They could do it all. Of course Pip loved to do all of it and Kieran was fine with doing the simple stuff. It was why Pip had a fun time trying to get Kieran to dance with her. She knew he would have to match her, so she always did all sorts of things. Depending on the song of course. Holding Kieran's hands, they swayed to the music as she answered his question. "Well, it was all an accident really. I mean I had no intention of being late. It just happened." She told him shrugging, smiling none the less. "Next time I will be sure to get dressed nice and early. That way I won't be so late." She laughed. He hadn't been waiting too long had her? "How long were you waiting?" She wondered, changing her steps to match the music. "Kieran. Does the Slytherin common room have windows?" She asked curiously as she looked up at the roof of the castle. It was Fabtastic, to say the least.

OOCOut of Character:
Sorry I didn't see Kesley's post!

Rose's first Yule Ball was proving to be a great one.She hadn't really known what to expect. This was her first time at anything like this and she hadn't been sure if she would like it or not but she did like it, quite a lot actually. She had been slightly nervous and apprehensive but now she didn't want the night to end. It was nice just chatting with her friends, she had even made a new one. Rose would like for them to all go to Brightstone together, she was sure it would be a nice day out. She would like to explore the magical towns and villages. Some of the things being sold must be amazing and so unusual compared to muggle shops. Some of the wizard/witches clothes were a bit unusual and Rose had a feeling she was going to stick with her muggle clothes because she would feel much more comfortable in them and she wouldn't feel like an idiot either. Rose smiled a Kieran's shocked face, it must be weird for him. He probably couldn't even picture life without having a sibling. Rose could dream about life with a sibling. When she was younger all she had wanted was a little brother or sister for her to play with and to actually have a family member who loved her. She knew that her Mama would have loved her, she always felt that when she was playing the piano but sadly that really wasn't any help. As a child she had cried at night, wanting her Mama or Papa but neither would ever be there. She had been too young at the time to realize what death really meant and she never understood her Papa until she was around five. She had gone to school and she had seen all the other Papa's bringing their children to school. Before that she had thought that maybe this what Papa's do, she hadn't known but then the penny had dropped that there was something wrong with her.

Rose laughed at the idea of Kyle being her adopted brother. She thought it was a great idea and she found herself thinking of scenarios where the two of them were adopted. In the real world she doubted that would happen, she wouldn't mind to because after the holidays she doubted she would have anywhere to stay. But she had a feeling Kyle would be a great brother,, they would have great fun together. "And we are both First Year Gryffindors and have only four letters in our first names"She said grinning at Kyle. Her face fell at his next statement though, she couldn't help it. She didn't have any parents, any who cared about her anyway. She was sure her Papa would be delighted to see the back of her. She didn't want anyone here to know about her family situation. She hadn't wanted anything to do with her parents brought up during the night, she was trying to forget about them because she hated anything to do with her Papa. "It would be fun, I'd think my parents would mind though" She said trying to smile. She felt bad for lying but she wasn't going to say that her Papa would love to see the back of her and anyways Lucie would miss her and probably wouldn't let her go but with the situation that was going to be on her hands when she went home she was sure she would be staying with Lucie. "I'd love that"She said a genuine smile on her face this time. She would love to go to Paris. She would love to go to all the museums and see all the art and history. Her excitement for the whole twin thing had been downed slightly by the mention of her one parent but she still loved the idea and she was excited just not as excited she had been a bit earlier. "That would be fun"She said smiling brightly.

Again the subject of her parents came up, this time about her Mama. Rose didn't mind that so much. Her Mama was dead and Rose had accepted that fact long ago. It didn't stop her imagining her Mama though, it was easiest to do that when she was playing the piano. She had taught herself the instrument. When ever she had been by the piano she had felt closets to her Mama so she had decided to teach herself the instrument, she did have a natural ability for her, she was told her Mama was an excellent pianist. That was why though that the piano was at the other end of the house to where her Papa was. It had once been in the room beside and when she had played her first proper piece at the age of four he had come bursting in, his face full of hope and when he had seen her, Rose closed her eyes for a moment, she hated reliving his expression. She stopped her thoughts about her Mama. "I taught myself"She said quietly, not elaborating any further. She was glad when Kesley arrived as she proved a distraction to the current topic of conversation "Salut Kesley"She said smiling, sometimes she couldn't help the French coming out. It was her natural language and it did feel funny speaking in English most of the time.

Kesley took Kieran dancing, they were beside them but for now they were dancing separately. Kyle's Dad sounded like a interesting fellow. Rose wondered what he was like. "No need to be embarrassed"She said smiling comfortingly. There wasn't any need to, so what if he had got dance lessons. Rose didn't ask any further on the topic of her Dad as he probably didn't want to be saying anything about him either. The song that was now on Rose vaguely remembered, people started doing these moves to it and Rose wondered why was everyone doing the same moved, the song itself was familiar but she had no idea what was being said "I think I have but I don't know the moves"She said curiously watching the other dancers and trying to learn it. it wasn't hard and it repeated itself a lot of the time.
