First Years Lesson Two (Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors)

Mallory was pleased to see she remembered each students’ name as they came into class, smiling fondly at the lot of them. “Good morning, my dears,” She greeted when everyone was seated, standing from her desk. Her mahogany hair was wrapped in a braided bun, small pink flowers dotting her hair to match her powder pink robes. As she stood Amara stirred from beneath her desk, stretching and jumping on top of the wood to groom herself. Mallory paid no mind to the Sphynx cat. Her robes swished softly around her feet as she began to pace in front of the desks.

Now, I do hope you did your reading. Can anyone tell me what spell we’ll be using today, and what it does?” She asked, smiling warmly and motioning for a student to answer. “Very good, dorogoy, five points for you,” She continued on again. “Lumos, my dears, is a very simple spell, and very useful. It is a spell that illuminates the tip of your wand and allows you to see in the dark, working much like a candle or a flashlight.

Mallory smiled, pausing in the front of the room. “Today, I would like you to find a partner, perhaps someone you don’t know. I would like the two of you to work together not just today, but for the remainder of this semester. Your grades are separate, of course, but I would like each of you to remember that your education is not something you must pursue alone. You have support, both from your Professors and from your friends.

Mallory smiled, folding her hands together. “Does anyone have any questions about todays spell?” She asked, taking a few moments to answer all of her students before resuming the lesson. “Alright, let us go ahead and begin.” With a wave of her hand, she dimmed the lights. “I am right here if you have any other questions. When you have successfully cast Lumos, try to counter it with the spell Nox,” She instructed calmly.

Mallory wandered throughout the room, offering help to all who asked, moving back to the front as their time drew to a close. “I have seen remarkable work out of all of you today, my dears.” She turned the lights back on again. “Remember to do your reading, next week we will begin work on Wingardium Leviosa. Have a wonderful day, dasvadanya” Mallory moved to sit back at her desk, smiling fondly at all of her students as they were dismissed.

It had only been the second week of lessons, and so far, Eloise had been liking the lessons. Eloise quickly packed the things she needed for the lesson, took a while deciding on what earrings she wanted to wear, before deciding to go for the hot chocolate earrings, and quickly made her way down to her charms classroom. Once she arrived, she took a seat in the same spot she was in the previous lesson. Eloise then took out the things she needed for the lesson.

Eloise moved her attention towards the professor as the professor started off with the lesson. The Hufflepuff quite liked her charms professor. Professor Grayveson was nice, and she liked the lady's teaching style. Eloise grinned as she was picked to answer the question. "Lumos! It's a charm that lights up the wand of someone who's casting the spell! It's helpful if you're in a dark room trying to find something," Eloise says happily with a grin as she explains the charm. It seemed she was right, which she was happy about. Eloise continued to listen to what the professor had to say, writing down the things she thought were important, as she didn't want to miss any important notes. She nodded along throughout the lesson from time to time to show that she was understanding the content that had been given.

They were then told to partner up with someone and try the charm. Eloise looked around, noticing a few people had already partnered up, so she ventured out and asked a random classmate if they wanted to be partners. She grinned when they had agreed. "Lumos," Eloise says. It flickered at first, which made Eloise frown a little, before she gave it another go and managed to get it right the second time, as she saw the tip of her wand light up. Eloise gasped excitedly. "Oh!! Look, I did it! So cool!!" Eloise says excitedly to her partner as she points at her wand.

It wasn't long before the lesson had come to an end, and the lesson was dismissed. Eloise quickly packed up her things as well as tidied up her area. She then says a quick and appreciative thanks and goodbye to the professor, before heading out of the classroom with her friends and classmates, glad she was able to do the charm.

She ran quickly from the dormitory carrying her bag, when she ran into the classroom she saw that she was on time. When the lesson began she took out her wand and volunteered to answer. Lumos, illuminates the wand giving light. Yes, spells are her favorite lesson, Cass already knew that. When the teacher told them to look for the pair afterwards she looked around and her gaze rested on the gryffindor boys. @Chase Edwards , @Lewis Edogawa She knew Lewis only slightly. Hey any of you already have a couple? If it doesn't work out, she'll find someone else. She had not seen Tay, and wanted her as a partner. But she's sure to find someone, maybe that Hufflepuff girl she met.

Chase was SO EXCITED for Charms, even moreso when he heard the professor say that they would be actually trying out a real spell this week?! Holy moley! He immediately paired up with Cass when she offered, "Let's do this!" He said with a grin, and then smiled at the girl, immediately whipping out his wand and casting Lumos, letting the girl use Nox on his, and then the two of them switched. When he felt like they had a good grasp of things, Chase thanked the other Gryffindor and then headed out of the classroom once the professor dismissed them.

The first week at Hogwarts had flown by, and Arachne felt like she was starting to settle in a little. She had a hard time navigating spending time with her sister, though. Nessie wanted to spend as much time as possible together, which meant seeing each other between lessons and at every meal and every afternoon. Arachne felt guilty about it, but she was starting to get a little tired of it. She loved her sister, she did. But her roommates were so nice and friendly, and sometimes she would like to spend some time with them too. She worried that they would all become friends without her now, which scared her.

The Hufflepuff headed into the Charms classroom, taking her seat next to one of her roommates. She glanced at Eloise and whispered to her. "I like your earrings."She said quietly, quieting down once the lesson started. She was a little in awe of Eloise, who dared to answer the question without any problems. Arachne had known the answer too, but she would never have raised her hand. Arachne's heart sank when she heard they had to partner up, and she was relieved to partner up with Eloise, smeone she knew. She practiced with her and finally managed it too, though not before her partner. Once the lesson was over, Arachne was a little relieved to get out of the classroom. She wondered where Nessie was as she left, she wanted to show her her new spell.

@Eloise Flynn

Lewis already knew how to cast Lumos, since he was from a magical household, he wasn’t sure why he was even learning this spell. He held up his wand and said, “Lumos,” which set the tip of his wand alight. How was this a hard spell to do? It wasn’t that was the point. He rolled his eyes and waited for the rest of the class to finish. There were a couple of students here he knew to be from magical families who seemed to be trying the spell for the first time. That was just sad.

As their wands flashed on and off and she spoke Lumos and Nox felt the power. I'm Cass, thanks partner. She smiled and left the classroom.

Amias walked into the charms classroom and took the same spot in the room as he had in the previous lesson, though he waited until most had sat before he did so. The professor then got started on the lesson and though he knew the answer to the question was not quick enough to be able to actually answer. He found a partner, waiting till most had done so and then started on the spell. He knew Lumos, and could do it, so didn’t struggle with casting the spell. He did it over and over. Practicing the spell until the professor wrapped the lesson up and then he was able to head out of the room.
