Hi! I'd like to ask, is an unsorted character (becoming a first year) allowed to have an inherited wand instead of buying one? Is this allowed? What are the rules for wands? Thank you!

Hi there,
Inheriting wands is risky business to begin with (wands always choosing the wizard and such
). I find that it's just simpler to enforce that wands must be purchased, this prevents first years from saying they have super special/rare wands that they don't have. This also makes the entire system very uniform and very, very simple.
If you want your character to be the exception to the above and to inherit a wand I'd be willing to have you PM me and explain why it's important to your character that they inherit the wand and whatever else you think might influence our decision, but generally first years must purchase a wand.
