Meyke had had a fitful night of sleep. The strange room had seemed even more foreign to her than anything else in the castle, and she had struggled to fall asleep in a bed that was not her own. For the first time she had almost wished she'd gone to boarding school before now. At least she'd be accustomed to staying overnight in a strange place.
The sounds of th castle had been spooky, but at last her roomie hadn't snored all night. She hadn't even caught the other girl's name, much to her embarrassment.
Hoisting her heavy copy of Hogwarts: Potions, Meyke carried it with her down into th Great Hall. At least she had remembered where it was this time! Sighing with relief, she dropped the book down on the Slytherin table, right where she remembered it from the night before. She wasn't expecting anybody to talk to her during breakfast, so she might as well have something to read, right ?
Meyke opened up the book, but she couldn't read. Her mind just wouldn't focus.
