Ending Y45!
What a year it’s been! My brain still thinks we're mid-way through semester 1.

House Cup
The winner of the house cup is Slytherin!!
Though all of the houses tried, with Ravenclaw trying more than most, Slytherin still won the cup! They have managed it again! Truly amazing the way the slytherins keep managing to take the cup. Massive congratulations to Slytherin, and all the students who put the work in to help them achieve it. An honourable mention to all the other houses, and all the students who tried to get their houses to win. Maybe next year another house will win but for now, let's just all celebrate Slytherin's success. For now, you can head over to the End Of Year Feast, to have character celebrate in their houses' victory or loss, you can also find out who got the top points in your house!


Graduation
As always with the end of the year, graduation is in progress! Head on over to this thread to have a look at what the head boy and girl said in their speeches and to see all the graduating students. If you have a graduating student and have not already posted, then head on over and do it before the area closes (which will be in about a week and a half). If you have a prefect, professor or are an invited guest, be sure to head over to this topic and post reactions before it is too late. Graduates and their guests can also post threads within the area, especially if you want your character to interact with some of their guest, take the opportunity to do so before it is too late.


Thank You Professors!
As always, we’d like to take this opportunity to give a huge thanks to all the Hogwarts Professors who worked tirelessly throughout this year to be able to give you all the lessons that you were able to complete. Please do join me in thanking them! Being a professor can be a lot of work, and we expect a lot from our professors, but the admin is here to support the professors in it and help if need be. It is a team effort of course, so long as you communicate with us, we can help you. Any professors who would like to step back, now is the time to tell us.


Holiday areas
The holiday areas will open in their entirety tomorrow (GMT)! You will be able RP to your heart's content during the winter break. You could buy books or sweets and just ruin the quiet peace that the non-hogwarts kids and adults enjoy. As ever, if you notice that you can’t post somewhere you should or vice versa, then reach out to myself with the issue, and I’ll see about getting it resolved. Additionally, all students and professors will shortly see their allowance come into their galleons – so even more money to spend.

Buy Your Supplies
Those with shopkeepers should be reminded that students will have to buy their books and other supplies ahead of signing up for classes. Professor's if you have supplies necessary by year, then please do make sure students can find this out with enough time to buy supplies.

Promotions
Promotions to your new year group will happen soon (tomorrow GMT). Prefects and head people promotions will happen a little later during the break. Everyone will be able to enjoy their new group, and be sure to kit yourself out with all new avatars and graphics. The seventh years will be placed into the graduates group until they are eventually moved into the magic group. However, if you want to do that early, or move them to another group, you can head over to the standard group change here and request to be moved.


Applications
Almost all applications are now closed – the only ones open are generic group change, galleons, and plot highlight. They will reopen shortly after the new term has begun. But there may be professor positions or other positions available.


Sorting
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: SORTING! Sorting will be opening soon enough (likely Sunday evening GMT), so I hope you have everything ready to jump right in. As ever, the first person to post once it’s open wins the pride of being first! Be on the lookout for a post from the admin to indicate that sorting has been opened! Then you will be able to sort away until the area closes. Also join us in the speculation/reaction thread for sorting.

[Professor Cyndi Kingsley]

MESSI, which stands for the Most Extraordinary Society for Social Interaction, is a group that existed in days past of HNZ, and as the school year has ended, we are looking for the next group! ​

MESSI's goal has always been to focus on the Out of Character (OOC) aspects of HNZ, and this iteration is going to help us specifically focus on improving the onsite OOC aspects of HNZ.

As of this announcement, we are going to begin accepting applications to form a new group of members to help us, the site staff, on this mission. We are hoping that whatever mix of people join, however, are looking to take ownership over ideas and see them through from start to finish with the staff offering support but not being at the forefront of all ideas.

A reminder:
We are going to be introducing term limits to being a member. Everyone who is accepted will be a member for 1 IC year. Our hope is to make sure that whomever is a part of MESSI will be able to maintain their engagement level during this time. One of the issues we experienced previously was that over time there was less of a focus towards leading community involvement, and we are hoping that the term limits will help members to maintain their attention towards working together to see their ideas through from start to finish.

Once the IC year is over, applications will re-open and existing members will be encouraged to re-apply. For transparency's sake, we will always prioritize sharing the wealth and giving some priority to folks who haven't had an opportunity or who haven't had an opportunity in a while.

• the chance to impact the ooc areas of the site in a very significant (and hopefully fun) way! And you'll have some inside information to goings on around the site, which we will be expecting you to keep confidential
• access to the private MESSI forum to engage with all of the other members of that team.
• a fun MESSI badge

Costs:
Your time. We will be expecting that whomever joins is willing to dedicate some of your HNZ time to discussing, planning, and aiding in implementing the ideas and seeing them through!
