Abby leads the two contests up to the stage and appoints them into the North or South side. She reveals to them the rules and point system before walking off the stage and standing by to watch. She instructs the duel to begin and waits.
OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.
Code:

Joanna was happy when she found out that the duels had started up again. She was still pretty happy with herself after her previous victory and she hoped to get another one today. Entering the duelling chamber she waited until her duel was called and she stepped up on to the platform. She eyed her opponent up and now, not really all that impressed. Then again she knew better than to judge a book by its cover as they had already won so they may be good. Once the match was called to start Joanna wasted no time and cast the first spell, "Stupefy!" she called out, watched as the spell zoomed straight for her opponent.

Ellie looked around the duelling chamber once more. She really was happy that they had started up again. During the holidays Ellie had spoken to her father of her previous win and though he had been happy, he hadn't exactly thrown her a party. This was to be expected of course, because Austiin expected all of his children to be excellent duellers. He had after all, trained them all himself and as Cameron had always said, he was an excellent dueller himself. Then, so was Cameron. Ellie walked up onto the stage and raised a quizzical eye at her opponent. The girl most definitely seemed confident in herself, perhaps too confident. She bit back a smart retort, something she usually did, in favour of just playing the game and instead cast a deflective spell in her aide.

Joanna rolled her eyes when her opponent blocked the spell, fair enough but why not take a hit on her. If that was her strategy then Joanna was going to get bored very quickly. When she realised the girl wasn't going to take a shot Joanna made her own move. "Petrificus Totalus!" she sai with force in her force, with her wand pointing directly at her opponent.

As Ellie knew, in duelling, strategy was everything. She had won her last duel simply by defending and she rarely took a shot. After all, she was much better acquainted with defensive magic as a first year then she was with many other forms. In keeping with her winning tradition, Ellie simply blocked the others spell and continued on.

Joanna was quickly becoming annoyed that the girl wasn't taking any shots at her. This wasn't a Defence Against the Dark Arts class, we weren't perfecting the protego spell. "Two can play at that game!" she shouted across the platform as she folded her arms and waited to see the girl protect herself against that.

Ellie smiled indignantly as the girl, Joanna, seemed to become annoyed at Ellie's own play. Soon she laughed as she realised that Joanna was not going to shoot a spell at her. Ellie wasn't annoyed, in fact she found this funny and instead just shrugged and yawned, pulling her hair in a ponytail and waiting. She was not going to simply throw a spell just to see the girl hit. Of course that was the point of this endeavour, but if she could annoy the girl sufficiently, perhaps she would win this anyway.

Joanna was getting beyond annoyed. Why was this good for nothing Professor not intervening at all? Joanna would rather both get disqualified for not doing anything than have a one duel against someone that didn't even appreciate the art of a good duel - why was she even here if she clearly didn't even care about duelling? "You know this isn't a physical fight right? You protecting yourself and me doing all the offensive work doesn't wear me down." she called over in a spiteful tone. It would make sense to just protect yourself and let your opponent wear themselves out with all the punches in a physical fight, but here they were still casting spells so it didn't make a difference.

Abby stared between the pair as their duel came to a halt. She shook her head and stopped the duel. "You can't do this guys. Miss Dragonov, she is perfectly allowed to defend herself only, it's not in the rules that she must be cast offensive spells." Abby knew it was likely annoying, but it was allowed. "Miss Hayes," Abby still felt weird saying that, seeing as she was no longer married and had changed her name back, "please be more sensible and fair in this duel." Abby stepped back and called for the duel to continue.

Joanna rolled her eyes as the Professor finallly interlined, it wouldn't have been how she would have handled it but she figured it was all she was going to get and Joanna didn't want to hold off the duel any more. Stepping back into position she flourish her wand, casting the stupefy spell at her opponent.

Ellie rolled her eyes at the girl and then at the Professor when she was told that she should fight. She shook her head and looked at Joanna when a spell was shot at her. She flourished her wand with a protego and then cast an expelliarmus. Why'd Joanna have to go and ruin the fun?

Joanna resisted the urge to smirk at her opponent as she finally cast an offensive spell. Time for childish behaviours to end and to finally begin a proper duel. Joanna easily protected herself against her opponents spell and quickly sent off her own Petrificus Totalus spell at her opponent.

Ellie noted the girls smirk. She supposed she thought she had got her way, and maybe she had, but it was more owing to the fact that Professor Hayes was likely to tell her father about this duel and she didn't want her father to be told that she had just been standing there. She narrowed her eyes to slits as she saw the spell coming and flicked a shield for her protection. She was definitely better at defense then she was at offense. She hoped that it didn't become a problem. "Expelliarmus."

It was clear to Joanna that Ellington was good at defensive spells so Joanna decided to stray from the typical offensive spells after she had protected herself from her opponents spell and went with a basic trip jinx.

Ellie saw the spell coming and was able to protect herself before it caused too much of a problem. She hadn't been expecting a trip jinx, but then again she didn't suppose that she expected much of anything. She would be sticking to the basic three though, most likely. "Stupefy!"

Joanna expected Ellington to protect herself against her trip jinx, it was a simple spell but effective when done successfully. Protecting herself against her opponents spell. Flourishing her wand she called out, "Locomotor Mortis!" With some force behind it, hoping to do damage.

Ellie was annoyed at everything. She still couldn't believe that Joanna had actually complained about her not throwing spells back at her. She had no idea why the girl was complaining at least she was actually doing stuff. She looked over at Abby and it was only the widening of the Professors eyes that told her there was a spell coming, unfortunately she was too slow to stop it. Oh poop. The spell hit her in the torso and her legs jumped together. Ellie groaned and looked down at her legs. Point to you. She thought before rectifying the situation. "Fi...finite" She didn't have enough time to cast a spell back at her opponent. She had to concentrate on getting the stupid spell right. "Finite."

Joanna smirked when she saw her opponent struggle with the ending spell for her own spell. Taking this opportunity she threw out a stupefy hoping to finish her opponent off but by the time she had her opponent was free from her last spell but maybe she could still catch her off guard.

Ellie had managed to free her legs, but by the time she was done, another spell had been shot at her and she looked up. "poop!" She would smack herself later for swearing, or rather for using a word her mother perceived as swearing. Ellie barely managed to cast an adequate protego and stumbled backward behind the force of the collision. She was going to have to be careful to not be caught off guard again. It was not a position she liked to be in. Correcting herself, Ellie glared at Joanna, though she couldn't blame the girl, definitely she was trying to win, as was Ellie, but she couldn't expect to be duelling an amateur, though they were all undoubtedly amateurs, they had both won their previous matches. "Expelliarmus!"

Joanna easily protected herself against her opponents spell and threw back her own body-binding curse, wanting nothing more than to see her opponents body seize up and fall in defeat.

Joanna found this duel getting very boring, with just back and forth with spells, protect and cast, protect and cast, she almost felt like giving up as the excitement had worn away. Protecting herself she cast the disarming spell.

Ellie didn't know why, but her opponents demeanour was changing. Perhaps she was growing tired, or bored. Either way it was an advantage for Ellie. The redhead cast her protection and then stood facing the blonde. "What? Not exciting enough for you? Grow up, what did you think was going to happen?" She then countered with an expelliarmus of her own and waited.

Joanna rolled her eyes and chortled at the girls attempt to taunt her, "Oh puhlease." was all she said, too embarassed for the girl to even taunt her back, that was playground stuff, not duelling chamber stuff. After protecting herself Joanna thought about casting Tarantallegra so she could maybe get a laugh but decided not too and thought it best just to stick to spells that could finish the fight and went with a good old body binding curse.

Ellie smirked. "What, really? That all you have? No wonder you're going to lose if that's how you play the game." Ellie knew that there were many ways of winning a duel, least of all was the taunting. Ellie sidestepped the on-coming cruse with a flourish of her arms and then crooked her eyebrow at the other girl, daring her to try again.
