Professor Misha Haden led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage respectively. He told them both the rules as well as the point system before walking off the stage to just watch from a good distance. He was sure this would be a good clean game, but he was ready to step in if he was needed to. ​

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Asher didn't consider himself to be an overly talented student, and he'd never used magic offensively against another student outside of the classroom. But if there was one thing he was good at, it was defensive spells. He'd been so terrified of what other witches and wizards could do to him when he found out he had magic, that defending himself had become him primary focus. Now was the time to put his skill to the test, and see just how useful it could be.

Taking his stance upon the duelling platform, Asher bowed toward his opponent, some boy he'd never spoken to before, or generally associated with from what he could recall. <COLOR color="darkgoldenrod">"I'll let you make the first move, mate." He grinned, gesturing for the other kid to start them off.

Ezra stood on one end of the platform, after reluctantly bowing to him he was in position and ready to begin. His opponent agreed to let him have the first shot. Ezra laughed, "Your funeral kid," He said raising his wand, "Stupefy,"

The Hufflepuff had plenty of time to prepare himself for the oncoming attack, lifting his wand steadily as the jet of red light headed toward him. <COLOR color="darkgoldenrod">"Protego." He incanted, conjuring up a transparent shield. The stunning spell ricocheted off to the side, fizzling into crimson sparks. "You're very cocky, hey?" Asher responded, flicking his wand back at the opposing Slytherin with a quick disarm. "Expelliarmus."

Ezra shrugged his shoulders as he effortlessly blocked the boys spell. "Yes, but most people go with arrogant," He laughed and cast Impedimentia at the boy.

<COLOR color="darkgoldenrod">"I guess you must - Protego - get called that a lot." Asher grinned, warding against the slowing spell and firing back with a jelly-fingers curse, while other offensive spells raced through his mind, trying to figure out what to use next. This guy wasn't going to go down easily.

Ezra shrugged casting a shielding charm to block his pathetic attempt at a curse. "Haters gonna hate," He laughed firing a stinging hex at the boy.

Distracted by coming up with a retort, Asher was too slow to throw up a shield with his wand, instead raising his left arm to cover his face as the boy's curse made contact with him, causing the bare skin to turn red and welt up. Hissing through clenched teeth at the pain, he tried to ignore it, focusing on the duel at hand and just grateful the spell hadn't affected his wand arm. <COLOR color="darkgoldenrod">"Stupefy!" The Hufflepuff commanded more forcefully, red light erupting from his wand and arcing toward the Slytherin.

Ezra blocked the boys attempt to stun him, he had clearly given up trying to trash talk him, he was fine with that, happy to keep quiet and beat him. "Expelliarmus"

Asher was quick to throw up a shield, deflecting the disarming spell with more force than previously and immediately following it up with a jelly-brain jinx as the shield faded.

Ezra had to admit he was getting bored. He just wanted the duel to end, and he was determined to be the victor. He put up a shielding charm to block the spell sent at him and cast a trip jinx of his own.

Distracted by the stinging pain in his arm, Asher was too slow to defend himself from the spell headed his way. In an attempt to move out of the way, he felt the jinx hook him on the feet and stumbled, falling to his knees. His grip tightened on his wand, determined not to let it fly out of his hand. The boy got back to his feet, his brow furrowing, and aimed his wand forward once more. <COLOR color="darkgoldenrod">"Stupefy."
