[Ryder Warrick]

Ryder lead the two contestants out onto the stage and appointed them to the north and south points of the stage. After explaining the rules he walked off the stage and watched.

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.


The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

This was the matchup October had hoped desperately wouldn't happen. Tristan had beaten her last year, and it had been humiliating enough, but after their breakup, she was determined not to let him emerge victorious this time. The moment the duel began she sprung into action, firing a spell at Tristan quickly, her tone cold. "Stupefy!"

Tristan was still a little shaken from his previous duel. He wasn't sure what had happened between him and Jerara, but he knew it wasn't good. His next opponent was someone he had a lot of history with as well, and Tristan silently cursed the odds. He nodded to October, his expression blank as if she was just another classmate. She went first, sending a stunning spell his way. He blocked it, then started off calmly with a disarming spell.

As nice as it would be for this duel to be an easy one, October hadn't expected Tristan to go down in the first round, and she was prepared when he retaliated, shielding quickly and firing her next spell back. "Petrificus totalus!" She responded, choosing spells that would mean the end if Tristan made a mistake. October wasn't interested in playing games this round, she wanted to end Tristan as quickly as possible and move forward.

Tristan was struck by the similarities between him and October, at least as far as their strategy went. He had clashed a bit with Jerara, but he completely understood what October was doing. He flashed her a slight smirk after blocking her spell, then sent one back. "Langlock."

October wasn't in the mood for any of this, and Tristan's smirk only deepened her frown, positively glaring at the boy as she blocked his spell and retaliated. "Incarcerous!"

Tristan could tell October was annoyed with him, which only made him want to seem as calm as possible to annoy her more. He met her glare with a small smile, as if he didn't notice it. He blocked her spell, then sent another her way. "Stupefy."

October was relieved that at least Tristan wasn't messing around with any of the spells he had been using last year. For better or worse, the sooner this duel was over the better. She blocked his spell easily and moved as she countered, hoping to catch him from an angle he wasn't expecting. "Confundo!"

Tristan blocked October's spell, though he appreciated the different angle she had chosen. If he hadn't been paying close attention, he might have been hit by that. He sent another disarming spell her way, though he was starting to think he might have to surprise her with a more exciting spell.

October didn't care much about making creative spell choices, shielding against Tristan's spell and sending another one back at him. "Stupefy!" She cast, again trying to move in a way he wasn't expecting, to catch him unawares. She wanted this over and done with, and then she wanted to have nothing more to do with Tristan.
