Feeding ducks was an activity Monty hadn't engaged in since he'd been smaller than the smallest first year at Hogwarts New Zealand, but his good friend Arvo had a way of persuading him into each and every one of his light hearted schemes. It was a beautiful spring day, and for the first time that year, the grass that reached the lake front was completely dry. Making the most of this small pleasure, the Potions Professor sat down on the bank beside Arvo and tore another piece of bread from the loaf in his hands to throw it into the sparkling water. He didn't look sad, but his expression had been fixed in deep thoughtfulness for quite some time, until the happy quacking and splashing of the ducks seemed to be an entire world away.
