Lily was over this week. This month. This year. She felt angry, sad, lonely. Every time she thought she was getting better again, something else happened. Clifton wanted to be happier, Elliot had Alice, Lars... Lars had something. She didn't even know what, because she didn't matter to him either, he didn't trust her, he didn't care any more than Elliot did. And of course, of course, she had to be working with Clifton's new... new... whatever Knox was. She couldn't escape, no matter what she tried. So she had tried the last thing she could think of- tapping into Jasper's dark side. He was always good for a distraction, and despite the little voice in her screaming Jasper would hate her too, not want anything to do with her. She stood up on the tower, hair tied loosely back and wearing a jacket a little too big for her.

Jasper had been surprised when Lily had approached him, asking for a distraction. Especially when the idea they had eventually come up with for the distraction was something so un-Lily like that he hardly believed she had been part of the decision. He now carried the large box of fireworks up the steps to the tower where Lily would be waiting, though he still very much dubbed they would actually be used. Lily was sad, angry, upset. But she was still Lily. Jasper just hoped that he could be there for her and support her, even if he didn’t truly believe she would go through with their plan. He placed the box on the floor as he moved up onto the top of the tower, spotting Lily not too far off. He cleared his throat as he approached her. “It’s a nice night.” He said, by way of greeting. “Are... you alright?”

Lily looked over, pleased he'd shown up. "Jas," she sighed, striding over and going for a hug. "Let's light these," she moved away, dropping down to shuffle through the box. She didn't answer his question, instead picking up a promising looking firework. She walked over to the edge, casting a muffling spell so the firework wouldn't let off any noise. When she was sure it was done, she lit it, letting it shoot up a bit and smiling widely at the beautiful burst of colors.

Jasper hugged Lily briefly, but she then moved over to the box of fireworks. He looked on in surprise as Lily took one out of the box and lit it, he watched with awe as the colors burst into the sky. "Wow." He said with a small laugh. "You really wanted to do something different." He told her. "I'm next!" He hurried to set up one of his own, barely remembering to muffle it with a spell before setting it off, lighting up the sky with golden sparks. He laughed and turned to Lily, reaching for her. "You know, we'll probably be discovered." He told her as he placed his hand on her arm. "It's not exactly subtle, even without sound."

Lily smiled, watching his firework and summoning the box over closer. "Then we better hurry," She teased, picking up another one, casting the spell before setting it off, relaxing a little more as the purple sparks lit up the sky. She was a little relieved that Jasper hadn't brought anything too big. If they worked together, they should be able to get through the box in a few minutes, enjoy the colors, then make a mad dash to leave before they got caught, hopefully finding somewhere else to enjoy their adventures.

Jasper couldn't help admiring Lily as she set off the next firework. He followed suit, setting off the next one and admiring the colors for a moment. He glanced over at Lily, watching as the green sparks in the sky reflected in her eyes. "Hey, uh... this is cool." He said softly, feeling a strange feeling he hadn't felt around Lily in a while. Something about seeing her like this, so free and uninhibited, made him remember how he used to like her. He'd decided long ago that they were better as friends, especially as he had hurt Lily a lot the last time they veered away from that, but it was easy to remember why he'd liked her so much. She was still just as pretty, maybe even a bit more. "Thanks for asking me to do this." He told her. "I never thought we'd get in trouble together." He added with a slight grin.

Lily smiled, taking out a red one and setting it off. She turned to Jasper, laughing lightly and putting her hand on his arm. "Thank you for agreeing," She responded, reaching up and brushing a smudge of dirt from his cheek. "We just needed to find the right thing to do," she laughed again, moving to pick up another firework, another purple one. "And we just don't tell Rose," she winked playfully, the wind picking up and blowing her hair. She brushed it back, sighing softly.

Jasper felt a jolt go through him the moment Lily touched his arm, and another when she touched his cheek. He swallowed. "Yeah." He said weakly. "I mean, wouldn't Rose approve? She has the whole rebel thing going on." He told her, though he guessed Rose was more of a stick in the mud than she seemed. Jasper watched Lily for a moment, then shook his head and set off another firework, golden sparks raining down around them. He felt a burst of joy, and suddenly he was reaching for her. Before he knew it, Jasper had pressed his lips to Lily's.

Lily laughed lightly, brushing her hair back. "Rose likes you now, at least," she giggled, picking up a pink firework and setting it off. "She still worries too much about me, though," she pouted. She laughed a little and turned towards him, about to ask him something. Before she could, he had kissed her. She was surprised a moment, but after a moment she relaxed into it, laying her hands gently on his shoulders and kissing him back.

Jasper shrugged when Lily said Rose worried too much about her "I can get why." He admitted. "Though I know you can take care of yourself." He added quietly. The kiss took him by surprise, even though he vaguely understood in the back of his mind that he had been the one to initiate it. He kept kissing Lily, relaxing into it as well. It was different to the last timet his happened, though he still felt like he might panic when the kiss ended. Maybe that just meant it shouldn't end.

Lily had to admit that it felt... nice, kissing Jasper, it felt safe. He felt safe. She broke the kiss, laying her head on his shoulder for a moment. "We need to finish these fireworks before we're caught," She smiled, pulling back and tucking her hair behind her ear. "Come on," she murmured, almost shyly, giving him the chance to act like the kiss had never happened.

Jasper blinked a few times when the kiss was broken, a surge of confusing feelings blossoming inside him. He had liked the kiss, but he also remembered when he'd kissed Nell which was not that long ago. But that hadn't been a big deal, she had said so herself. But... both kisses had felt nice. Was it mean of him to even think of another girl now? Jasper shook his head a bit. "Oh, right." He said, still looking a bit dazed. "But that... was..." He faltered. "Lily, let's go to the dance together?"

Lily had moved to the box, taking out the last two fireworks. She straightened, half turning back to Jasper when he spoke. She looked up, blinking a little in surprise before smiling. "Sure, we can do that." she agreed easily, moving back and holding out the last firework. Golden and green. "Together, then run like hell?" She asked with an impish smile.

Jasper's heart was beating quickly, and he dismissed any thoughts of Nell that were maybe lingering. Though Lily sounded a little casual when she agreed, like it was not a big deal. Was it not a big deal to her? That they kissed? Jasper could barely find any words, but he nodded. "Right. Yeah." He said, trying to still his hammering heart. "Yeah." He repeated, reaching for the firework so they could set it off together. "On three? One... two... "

-godmod approved-

Lily smiled widely, glad Jasper was acting so much better after this kiss than the last one. She knew she would linger on it later when the adrenaline wore off and she let herself think about it, but for right now, she was with Jasper, in this moment. She giggled and copied his movements, stepping a little closer. "Three!" she finished and watched their fireworks soar up into the sky with a flourish. She giggled, grabbing his hand and pulling him after her, running from the tower, her fingers laced with his.

Jasper watched the fireworks go off, entranced for a moment. But then Lily pulled him along, and he remembered they had to run. He could only focus on the feeling of her hand in his as they ran, and the memory of their kiss. But he had the feeling that wasn't something they were going to actually talk about anytime soon. He let himself enjoy the moment, alughing as he ran after Lily.
