Dirty Little Secrets

[Lyra Potter]

Lyra Potter didn't really know why she was still with James Cade. Actually, that wasn't true. She knew exactly why she had yet to break up with him. Chemistry had never been lacking in their relationship. If she was honest with herself, she was also still punishing Felix. Lyra hadn't spoken to the Hufflepuff boy for nearly a week after the disaster that the Halloween feast had been. Part of her had been too angry to speak to him after he refused her, and another part of her had been too embarrassed to admit to him that she had been caught half-naked on top of her boyfriend by her aunt who also happened to be her Head of House. Lyra never wanted to repeat that event. She could only hope that Cyndi didn't tell her mother.

The brunette had met James in the Gryffindor Common Room and walked down to the Yule Ball on his arm. With luck, they didn't run into anyone on their way down. Link had told Lyra that the fling with Madeline was just that. A fling. After she had admonished him successfully, she had let the topic drop. She hoped they could avoid Maddie tonight all together. She looked around the hall. It was a beautiful winter wonderland. Lyra grinned at James. "What shall we do first?" she asked, squeezing his hand.

[Professor James Cade]

James was still dating Lyra though he wasn't really sure why. No matter how things were with Maddie he shouldn't be with someone he didn't love. Though their chemistry was hard to ignore he knew it had to end soon. Things seemed to be okay with Maddie though he had left out the part about being caught by Professor Kingsley with a half naked Lyra on top of him. Maddie's understanding would only go so far. As James fastened his tie and went to meet Lyra in the common room he had resigned himself to the fact that this would be their last event as a couple. When he returned to school for the second semester he and Lyra would be over.

Despite all that James couldn't deny that Lyra looked stunning. He made his way over to his date and kissed his date's cheek. "You look beautiful Lyra," Once they made their way down from the common room they entered the hall. It looked as beautiful as ever and reminded James how much he was looking forward to the winter break at home. He turned to Lyra as she asked what they should do first. "We could dance?
Or I could get us both some drinks?" He offered as he scanned the hall.

 

[Madeline Walden]

Maddie wasn't that excited for the Yule Ball this year. There had been such drama surrounding the last school event that she thought about not attending this one. Especially because she would have to see Lyra parading around with James and the thought of it made her feel sick. Nevertheless, she put on her dress and fixed her hair and walked down to the Great Hall, hoping to find one of her friends. Unable to find any of them she made her way to the food and drinks table to try and occupy herself while she waited for them to arrive. It also gave her the chance to keep herself busy so she would not notice her fellow Gryffindor's all over each other.
